To the Western Conference, I have some bad news... you're going to get your butts kicked this year by the San Antonio Spurs. They're gonna win 67 games. They're gonna be up by 30 points in a lot of them. There's gonna be a lot of high fiving. A lot of 3-pointers. A lot of people standing, because the 12th man on the team dunked to put them up 40 with two minutes left.

so many high fives.

I feel ancient for remembering this copy pasta

Where is the original?

u/rottenapple927 1d ago

I can already envision Wemby playing a lot of low minute games because of blowouts lol

7

u/LampSsbm Carter Bryant 22h ago

I kinda hope not just so he can maintain his endurance and stamina throughout the season during his long minutes

9

u/rottenapple927 21h ago

Facts but you also don't want to run him into the ground given his height. Who even knows how to manage Wemby's minutes anymore.

yeah I like what I have seen from jakobi this preason. he can bring instant three point shooting. I think the spurs can develop him into a good three point shooter who can come off the bench. its early days but wright has had a great draft with the reed and jakobi picks.

u/widelyruled 23h ago

Is it just me or does Ja'Kobi kind of remind you of Patty Mills? Undersized PG with lethal 3 point shooting that just has that juice.

13

u/carelesssportsfan89 Victor Wembanyama 23h ago

thats a spot on comparison I think Ja'kobi is going to replace jmac by next season.

u/pwtrash 11h ago

Yeah, I'm thinking he might have worked his way into a fulltime spot with the team (on the team, not the rotation). I have trouble believing he's as good as he's shown, because...second round. But dude can shoot from anywhere.

Great way to end the preseason. GSG!

Puro Pinche Spurs!!!

u/MaccTHC "What the fuck is this?" 1d ago

Watching the kings regularly would give me depression I think

15

u/AdCommon6529 1d ago

Harper baby!

7

u/widelyruled 23h ago

That third quarter run was unreal!

this is my favorite time of the year halloween vibes + spurs basketball 🎃

u/JarvisCockerBB 1d ago

I just woke up from a coma. Are the Spurs the best team in the league ?

25

u/Hot_Bobcat_7986 1d ago

No, the kings are just the worst

5

u/ToadlyAwes0me Area 51 1d ago

I don't know about that one. Simmons has looked good and Acuff is a dawg.

7

u/widelyruled 23h ago

Who do you think is worse though? I think its hard to make an argument for the Kings being better than anyone right now.

2

u/Lanky_Corner_3688 23h ago

Pelicans prob worse rn

2

u/widelyruled 9h ago

I'll take the Over then on the Pelicans wrt to the Kings. The Pelicans won't be good, but they just have a lot of random guys who I think will help stack some wins. I think Dejounte has looked good in preseason. They randomly added Mathurin who will give them bursts of scoring. And Zion always shows flashes. I'll easily take that over a Ben Simmons led team.

u/Drisurk GO SPURS GO 1d ago

This team looks unstoppable bro

34

u/Euphoric-Relation-20 El Jefe 1d ago

Playing the kings will do that

1

u/WhoreyMatthews 6h ago

I don’t know man. Wemby is a legit cheat code and Dylan Harper already might be the best guy in the entire league at getting to and finishing at the rim.

38

u/Destanio9357 Devin Vassell 1d ago

I think Tobias starting will make the 3-guard lineup make a world of sense. He can set screens, pick and pop, grab boards and fixes the size gap.

Devo can be first sub in to give one of Castle or Harper rest, whoever is leading the 2nd unit. Hell even Fox might be the one given that role.

Personally here's what I think the 15-man depth chart will be sorted with Tobias' return;

Starting 5:
G: DeAaron Fox
G: Dylan Harper
F/G: Stephon Castle
F: Tobias Harris
F/C: Victor Wembanyama

Depth:
G: Devin Vassell
G: Jordan McLaughlin
G: JaKobi Gilseppie

F/G: Keldon Johnson
F/G: David Jones Garcia

F: Julian Champagnie
F: Carter Bryant
F: Harrison Barnes

C: Luke Kornet
C: Tarris Reed

Overall a deep, deep team. We are going to make one hell of a run.

34

u/yae4jma Jeremy Sochan 1d ago

I think Vassell is just better than Harris.

14

u/Lionheart0021 22h ago

That starting lineup is not gonna work against Denver or NY, or any team with a strong PF.

It could work against OKC because Devin can handle Chet lmao

17

u/LampSsbm Carter Bryant 22h ago

Devin legit uses spite to fuel him against okc and it’s so beautiful to see lmfaoooo

3

u/gregatronn 22h ago edited 20h ago

Depends on the opposing team , but Tobi is probably the better overall 4. That's not to say Devin can't play the 4, but hes also playing out of position. However Devin's better than Champ at bodying players.

0

u/WhoreyMatthews 6h ago

Agreed. They’re so different it's hard to compare them. Tobias has aged into being a solid 4 who can bang with big strong bigs. Dev is a movement shooter who is naturally probably a 2 but can play the 3 as well

0

u/gregatronn 6h ago

If anything they'd fit well on the court together! I'm sure they'll share the court together a lot!

2

u/management_leet 18h ago

Vassel is so much better then harris, he aint going anywhere

4

u/xbhaskarx Carter Bryant 1d ago

Or, or, just start 2/3 of Fox/Castle/Harper alongside 2/3 of Harris/Vassell/Champagnie and that way we won't have problems...

2

u/siphillis Gregg Pop-a-bitch 1d ago

I still don’t love that spacing. The bigs will be spacing the floor for our guards

18

u/widelyruled 23h ago

Harper and Castle's outside shooting has looked better and better -- I trust their 3s more than Wemby's now. Let's see how it goes first before declaring it's a failure?

3

u/someguyfromtecate Victor Wembanyama 23h ago

Once this team is complete, we will have Wemby, Reed and Quaintance grabbing a lot of boards for our guards and wings missed threes. This will help our team’s groove when it comes to shooting percentages.

1

u/GabeIsGone Victor Wembanyama 20h ago

That’s old criticism, find a new slant.

u/GymMouseP 23h ago edited 23h ago

Gillespie should get the final spot. DJG, Brown and whoever should be the 2 ways. Jayden is #14 even if he sits out the whole year since he was a 1st round pick. It might be interesting (and a little bit funny) to sign Rob Dillingham for the last two way since he was waived by Charlotte. The three two way players can be up for 50 games each.

1

u/KitKatF07 5h ago

Dillingham is the Sochan of guards. Interesting in theory but could never put it all together.

imho last 2-way should be injury insurance. To me that means more size.

9

u/GymMouseP 23h ago

I was surprised CB and Reed played so little.

6

u/Vast_Pipe4509 23h ago

Same - Reed didn't hit the floor til what, end of 3rd quarter?

5

u/LampSsbm Carter Bryant 22h ago

I think they also wanted Kornet ready to go so that’s why Reed wasn’t in so soon

5

u/Legitimate-Garlic325 23h ago

I was happy with Reed. I wanted a bit more from CB. DJG had a tough time tonight

6

u/xbhaskarx Carter Bryant 22h ago

DJG has had a tough time almost every time

1

u/KitKatF07 5h ago

Confidence issue. He knows the team isn’t keeping 3, under 6 foot, guards. We know who the two they are keeping. He’s headed back to Austin if no other NBA team wants him.

1

u/xbhaskarx Carter Bryant 1h ago

DJG is like 6'3"? And the open spot on the 15 man roster is at shooting guard? It's not confidence he hasn't looked the same since his ankle injury.

5

u/rottenapple927 1d ago

Glad the preseason is over with. Now on to the real games.

9

u/blue-anon GO SPURS GO 1d ago

Great way to close out pre-season! I'm still not sold on the 4 guards + Wemby starting lineup, but I guess we'll see.

3

u/lebeefstew Put 'em in the dungeon 1d ago

I think that’ll look a little more solid once Tobias Harris comes back

2

u/blue-anon GO SPURS GO 22h ago

Meaning that you think Harris will start?

1

u/lebeefstew Put 'em in the dungeon 10h ago

I think he might, but we shall see

3

u/nokarmawhore Tim Duncan 19h ago

My main concern with this lineup was thinking we’d have Devin, Julian or keldon running point but it looks like one of our point guards will be out there at all times. Fine, cool. Stagger their rotations.

3

u/death210902 Blake Wesley 23h ago

are they gonna be dimming the lights on the crowd this season

1

u/Long-Jelly-5679 Manu Ginobili 13h ago

It seems like it. I wasn't a fan, but that's a minor issue. GSG!

3

u/gyomd 16h ago

I didn’t have the time to look at the game. Fox seemed to have a pretty good game no ?

2

u/suavekm GO SPURS GO 1d ago

Heres to a healthy season 🤞

2

u/bowlofthoughts Tim Duncan 21h ago

Harp 🪉 with 0 rebounds?! Trade him!!

2

u/Jackburton06 17h ago

Without injuries this torster is a nightmare matchup for most of team during regular season. 60 wins or more if everybody stay healthy.

3

u/0reos- 23h ago

I thought that we were washed up and nobody on our team looked like they had learned anything new or practiced anything at all? Why is there optimism in this thread?

5

u/scarykicks Victor Wembanyama 23h ago

It's funny how much criticism these keyboard warriors will talk about a preseason game.

Spurs gonna destroy the league this year.

2

u/McNugget63 1d ago

Harper 4 MVP im calling it

1

u/deneuvig Manu Ginobili 15h ago

Fox is looking pretty spry right now, haven't seen him as dynamic in a while

1

u/KitKatF07 5h ago

I just don’t see how most teams other than OKC,  are going to be able to counter the Spurs 3 guard lineups. Especially if Vassell continues to be able to defend big forwards like he’s shown recently.

-6

u/xbhaskarx Carter Bryant 1d ago edited 22h ago

They couldn't even maintain a 30 point lead smh

Can we not to back to missing free throws please... 75% but it felt like 65% when we had like three guys miss within a minute.

Edit: no jokes allowed
