Which of these hypothetical Big 3s would you build your team around?

  1. Magic + MJ + Hakeem

  2. LeBron + Kobe + Shaq

  3. Steph + Bird + KAJ

Assume all players are in their prime and spend their entire careers with your franchise.

Who'd you pick?

Team 2 is probably most talented but I’d be most nervous about chemistry risk, Shaq staying engaged, LeBron wearing on his teammates, and potential off court problems. Spacing isn’t great either.

Team 1 is elite on both ends. I’d be concerned about the spacing, and it would be tough to find good shooters who are overall competent players to surround them with given three max salaries.

Team 3 is the least talented but the best chemistry and fit. Defense isn’t as good but Kareem was elite and Bird was actually a very high level defender, Curry is small but at least tries. Defense is the easiest trait to find when trying to cobble together a team outside of three max salaries.

Team 3 probably takes it for me

So your telling me I get to take Jordan AND Hakeem? I don’t even care who the third is, give me that duo every time

6

u/inefekt 2h ago

MJ and Hakeem literally combined for 8 consecutive NBA championships. They are two of just three players to ever win MVP and DPOY in the same season. Hakeem is the only one to add a Finals MVP to those two awards in the same season. MJ the only one to also win the scoring title with those two awards.
They potentially have the greatest ever point guard, the greatest player ever and the most skilled, two way center ever.

  1. It’s the most unselfish group

8

u/Reasonablereasonz 10h ago

I agree, but Defense is an issue. That’s why I think mj magic Hakeem is the better bet

10

u/ahoy_shitliner 7h ago

Give me 1 easily. The defense this team would put out would be ridiculous.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s i always felt that if Jordan and Hakeem were on the same team they’d be unstoppable.

28

u/Whit3Pudding 16h ago

I have only seen Kobe Brons and Shaqs entire careers so can’t really be too objective here. But in any case that trio is unbeatable as long as Shaq doesn’t start shitting in LeBron’s shoes.

8

u/ethos1234567890 13h ago

So they lose immediately?..because that’s definitely happening

2

u/Whit3Pudding 12h ago

Most likely

3

u/PittFanIAm 11h ago

They might be the 3 worst shooters of the 9.

Magic MJ and Dream for sure

1

u/inefekt 3h ago

Only team with DPOY players, and they have two of them. More major awards among them than anyone else too. Plus you got two arguable top five players OAT, one of which should be considered almost unanimously as the GOAT if it weren't for a whole bunch of deluded LeBron stans who have infested NBA discourse over the last couple of decades.

6

u/NoMajorsarcasm 13h ago

Mj Magic and Hakeem

10

u/turdnuggets7 3h ago

People saying Shaq, Kobe, and Bron are just wrong. No way those three could exist together. It’s option 1 all day for winning.

62

u/Fluffy-Cap-458 16h ago

Group 2 is just way too strong, mainly because of Shaq. I know people like to say Hakeem neutralized Shaq back in Orlando, but he wasnt the true Diesel until LA. Couple that with prime Kobe and Bron? That's wraps and no disrespect to the other legends on here.

22

u/FlashwithSymbols 16h ago

Yup, Shaq with LeBron facilitating…. And then you also have Kobe to deal with. It’s too strong.

21

u/Mobile-Analyst8580 15h ago

You guys just don’t understand how unstoppable Jordan was.

30

Oh yeah nobody ever says this on this sub

Yeah that was a real hot take

That was the most room temperature shit I’ve read in a while

2

u/kickspecialist 3h ago

I just saw a post about Jordan being the second most well known person across the world in the 90's behind the other MJ. Basketball was no where near the global popularity it has now and it was mostly pre-internet.

Oh and Magic? There is a reason he is still in most people's top 5.

2

u/ponyboy56- 14h ago

Oh I understand but as unstoppable as he was he still didn’t win a ring in the 80s.

6

u/ethos1234567890 14h ago

How many rings did LeBron win in the 00’s? LeBron took longer to get his first title than MJ. Hakeem got to a Finals as a rookie. Magic WON a title as a rookie…and was FMVP.

3

u/Bbrazyy 10h ago

Magic got drafted to a team with Kareem lol

2

u/ponyboy56- 13h ago

Hey I wasn’t being sarcastic or knocking Jordan I was just making a point about winning is about teams and this was a team question.

2

u/JONYLOCO 10h ago

Yeah he played more than 6 years....

3

u/Swiggle_Swootie 8h ago

I mean, rich of Zele to take this stance… don’t remember him getting past a prime Boston or LA.

1

u/AlpsImpossible3133 Lakers 5h ago

the pistons beat prime bird and the celtics only a few years removed from a ring. they went 7 with LA in a series many argue they were cheated in. I wont bring up 89' cuz magic and scott were hurt

1

u/Rsj21 3h ago

Remember his pass to Larry Bird to DJ for the assist in ‘87? - classic. Possibly my favourite game from the 80s

2

u/Lazy-Emphasis668 4h ago

31 is old according to Isiah.  then Lebron had to wait for Tim Duncan to be ancient and still lose the rematch against and older Timmy.

Its why anything Isiah says hold no weight anymore, since he just makes himself look bad at most

Yes. I’m an MJ guy but I feel like the LA synergy is so good.

1

u/ceelo18 11h ago

LeBron will be useless if he isn’t the alpha on his team. No way Kobe is playing second fiddle to him

5

u/Post-Formal_Thought 14h ago

And it wasn't true that he neutralized Shaq. Shaq did his thing, Olajuwon just outplayed him.

5

u/ethos1234567890 14h ago

Shaq and LeBron need the same space on the floor though. Defense just packs the paint against both. These are all great trios, but the fit is worst with LeBron and Shaq plus we all know Kobe and Shaq can only get along for so long before developing friction. Both of the other trios are better chemistry both in terms of personalities and play styles.

10

u/Tgmg1998 Spurs 16h ago

Hack a Shaq all day. Have each player take turn fouling his ass

The most talented, but I’d be way too nervous about the chemistry, and spacing is not great.

3

u/VASlum 14h ago

This team will be good.. but their personalities will have them fall apart.

2

u/colblair 9h ago

No chance I'm picking those guys, we already saw Kobe & Shaq struggled to work together because of their egos - you think that's going to be better by adding Bron. You'll get one season out of them.  1 and 3 have dynasty potential.

2

u/Returninvestor 7h ago

Shaqs laziness will not fly with both kobe and lebron on the roster. They will split.

1

u/R1T-wino 15h ago

This is about who you would build your team around. So what happens if team A decided to add Ben Wallace?

1

u/lewinskys_ex 14h ago

1

u/RocketDog2001 12h ago

u/ForlornDM 14h ago

Kobe and Shaq could barely handle playing together by the end. Whoever’s fault it was, whoever’s ego was too big, doesn’t matter. The partnership broke down. That’s information we don’t have elsewhere. The reason it’s important is we then have to consider LeBron fitting into an already fractious dynamic. I don’t see it working out well. That team may eat itself alive.

It’s close but I take Team 1. The gap between Jordan and Steph is greater than the gap between KAJ and Hakeem, and although Bird is maybe a better fit for the modern NBA than Magic, they’re extremely close in terms of overall impact. Team 1 also has two elite defenders, which mitigates Magic’s deficiencies on that end. Team 1’s biggest weakness (I.e., shooting or spacing) can be mitigated in a variety of ways, but finding a 3-and-D wing or a stretch big is clearly a top priority. I also like the odds of MJ or Magic developing into a good shooter from distance more than I like the prospect of Steph turning into a lockdown defender, for obvious reasons.

6

u/X_F-I-Live-Early 14h ago

Team 1 no doubt. I think people sleep on how great Magic actually was. Then you have the Quadruple double threat Hakeem! My gosh

20

u/Great_Standard3441 16h ago

All 3 trios are great. I am leaning towards Steph, Bird and Kareem because of the shooting.

6

u/_Frozen_Flame_ 16h ago

I would agree but it's the worst defensively too which means if they're having a bad shooting night (yes I know this may be too literal) they're gonna struggle to contain the other teams

5

u/Radiant-Road-7858 14h ago

Weakest of the three yes but not bad. KAJ was elite defensively, Bird was pretty good and made several all defensive teams, and Curry wasn’t good and is small but wasn’t terrible. Just surround them with decent wing defenders and they’ll be fine.

7

u/CurrentDragonfly58 16h ago

Steph, Bird and Kareem is a really interesting combo. The spacing would be insane with Steph and Bird, and Kareem gives you that unstoppable inside scoring. Hard to go wrong with that trio tbh.

1

u/inefekt 3h ago

Easily the worst of the three groups defensively though, especially on the perimeter. Agree it's the best shooting group, no questions asked.

5

u/Thin-Performance-177 15h ago

Group 1 is not even close, the most complementary while arguably the best players ever at their respective position

1

u/inefekt 2h ago

LeBron stans only see the name 'LeBron' listed and immediately just vote on that....probably why that team is the top comment. Bunch of glazers immediately hitting the upvote button when seeing his name.

6

u/tribriguy 13h ago

Team 1 is going to have the best team chemistry. Team 3 second. Team 2 is always going to be problematic. I can’t see them meshing.

4

u/Foxtrot_Kilo0913 15h ago

Damn..this is actually a tough question. Nice one OP.

anyways, id pick Team 1 i guess.

5

u/Tom_JonesDD3 15h ago

MJ Magic and Dream.

LeBron Kobe Shaq is the only Trio that that features three defensive players

Yes I know Shaquille played defense when he felt like it

I think team one can live with Magic’s defense when you have MJ and Hakeem.

How could anyone stop #2? They could barely stop Kobe and Shaq.

2

u/antiquity11 14h ago

I think so too. Just a Duncan Robinson-type 3 point shooter and I don't see how you can possibly beat them.

2

u/Returninvestor 7h ago

They'd stop themselves. Shaq was known not to take practice and conditioning as seriously as he should of. That already pissed off kobe and LeGM isn't letting that fly either.

How can anyone stop 1? they couldnt even stop Jordan and Pippen

Against teams with a higher average number of wins than LeBron has faced in his career....that's who.

3

u/Master_Kiwi7434 15h ago

Magic, Michael, and Hakeem win that.

3

u/Jaded-Round-6660 15h ago

1 without question for me, all you would need is a few shooters on the vet minimum or second round rookeis and you would win it all, would make building a team so easy

5

u/Timmay_mmkay 16h ago

Magic, MJ, and Hakeem would be so nasty

5

u/Hot_Celebration5347 76ers 15h ago

3 gives the most variety to build around. All three have some good variety but I would think Steph’s shooting just makes the biggest difference

4

u/horsehasnoname 15h ago

Imagine guarding Kobe at the top of the key and here comes Lebron to set a hard pick, and now your caught in between. Lebron slips the pick and barrels towards the basket and you try to pursue. Kobe lobs the ball towards the basket and all of a sudden all you see is Shaq's nuts right in your face as he yams the ball for the alley oop.

1

u/inefekt 2h ago

you could come up with any number of 'imagine.....' scenarios for all three teams lol

6

u/notanAI_ 10h ago

All these teams are nuts but given the SPECIFIC parameters you gave: I'd want 3. All in their primes and I get their entire careers? Sure I lose Bird but I keep Curry and KAJ for ages, and I wouldn't have the crazy dynamic of team two with Kobe and Shaq

8

u/TheInnerMindEye 14h ago

Im gona go with team 1.  Magic, Jordan  And Olajuwon?!

The greatest PG ever, the greatest SG - and player, one of the greatest centers ever. They all know how to win. Even if egos clash they put it to the side to win. Incredible inside out game with Magic and Hakeem, and Jordan is Jordan.

They all compliment each other completely. This is a guaranteed winner.

Team 3 has the best shooters ever alongside Kareem. Deadly for sure. They'll need a slasher though.

Team 2? Egos are gona clash. U got Kobe and Shaq - which only worked for a short time plus LeBron. Kobe and LeBron are gona have chemistry issues. U never kno maybe Kobe gets Bron to get with the Mamba mentality and develop killer instinct. I genuinely think Team 3 falls apart due to ego, and u cant build seriously because LeBron will want to be traded after a few years regardless if you are winning or not. Also Shaq cant hit free throws and is a bully, going as far to dump his feces on Team mates while showeing, or put their mouth guards under his ballsack. Kobe will be mad at LeBron and Shaq if he thinks theyre  not being aggressive enough or have the right work ethic/drive. LeBron shuts down as a result (2011 finals), which causes Kobe to quit because his team isn't giving effort. This team is the. Biggest risk... but if they click... super. SUPER scary

3

u/ManusRightHand 13h ago

Robert Horry played with Hakeem in his prime (1992-96), Shaq in his prime (1996-2003) and Duncan in his prime (2003-08). When asked who was the best big man among the three, Horry said "Dream is #1 by far" https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeDGi5hS7i3/?dlrf=aDN1MHUzeG5sY2V1

1

u/Cornpop_mcgoo 12h ago

I can’t see why Lebron/Wade worked but Lebron/Kobe wouldn’t.

1

u/inefekt 2h ago

lol are you seriously comparing the personalities of Wade and Kobe? They are about as opposite as you can get. Wade very gladly handed the reigns of his own franchise over the LeBron. There is no way in hell Kobe is doing that. And that is where the assumed personality clashes would come into play....nobody willing to give up being the alpha.
I can't imagine that would be an issue with the other teams. Magic is one of the best teammates you could ever imagine, willingly handing over the mantle of NBA top dog to MJ when he saw it was apparent. Hakeem is pretty easy going as well, never really heard anything about ego or clashing with teammates and he has said multiple times he believes MJ is the greatest player he has ever seen. I doubt he would be reluctant to concede top dog status to MJ.
Team three would be similar though it's hard to say who would be the top dog....it probably should be Kareem, but his personality and intellect would not be the type to cause friction, and history shows he willingly conceded top dog status to Magic. Steph is as easy going as you can imagine and again, he has a history of conceding top dog status when he was with KD. There was no discourse surrounding Steph and KD and any simmering friction that may have been around after KD won Finals MVP over him. Maybe they just both look at Bird and go 'you the man Larry...show us the way'.
Team two features three massive egos, none of which would even consider the notion of being second dog to anyone else. It would be a firecracker ready to go off in a big way....

1

u/Gannicus_Glory 11h ago

I dont see how egos would matter when it didnt matter in practice. When Kobe started his prime... 3 peat with Shaq. When Kobe joined the olympic team with Lebron... undefeated

Any team with MJ. and I'd get Hakeem and Magic too? Team 1 all day.

2

u/jpgonzo24 14h ago

Realistically, #1 simply because of the defense, but also magic is arguably the best point guard, Dream is really top 5 center all time, and jordan is the goat.

Or IT for that matter. Or baby Shaq in Orlando

4

u/Caeolian 16h ago

2 or 3.

Ain't nobody got an answer for Shaq. Bron is too versatile. Kobe is gonna go off with the shot creation. The defense of these 3 combined is O.P.

Steph and Larry are going to Fry just about most of their match ups unless Steph is having an off night. Steph isn't the best defender either. Kareem is gonna get his buckets because Shaq and Hakeem ain't stopping the skyhook but Kareem can't be out on the perimeter guarding anyone either. He's essentially going to be a good rim protector, glass cleaner and he'll get you 20-24 pts and 6-10 rebounds a game if not more as well as at least 4-5 blocks a night.

1

u/inefekt 2h ago

The defense of these 3 combined is O.P.

lol are you completely forgetting team one has two DPOYs and possibly the two greatest defenders of all time at their respective positions? They are head and shoulders the best defensive team of the three.

2

u/gimme_the_light Celtics 16h ago

Jordan is the goat, and team 1 has the best defenders, but it’s 2 or 3. 3 has the shooting, but 2 has scoring and athleticism and above average defensive ability. I’d probably go with 2 if I had to choose one of them.

2

u/Equivalent_Ad_9662 15h ago edited 15h ago

This is hands down going to be 1.

Listen, all 3 teams are going to barrel through regular season and most of playoffs in any given year, so the difference will be in the finals in a 7 game series. That means you want a team with the least weaknesses to exploit and the tightest defense, who is going to close out the series in a dogfight.

That means this will be between 1 and 2. Steph’s shooting will somewhat get neutralized when defenses close down especially with Jordan or Kobe defending him. More importantly, he will get exploited on offense, so 3 is out.

Between 1 and 2, I’m picking 1 because 1) Shaq’s free throw shooting is a liability in the playoffs in a close series; 2) Magic, Jordan, and Hakeem can defend all and any 5 positions; and 3) Jordan will close games out when it comes to crunch time.

1

u/TheInnerMindEye 14h ago

Magic also has one of the most clutch shots ever so keep that in mind too

1

u/Equivalent_Ad_9662 14h ago

Hey, you are right. Imma feel safe with the rock in MJ’s hands regardless.

2

u/StableNew947 13h ago

On paper team 2 has the most overall skill but we’ve seen the Kobe and Shaq project only lasted so long. Add in the biggest egomaniac of them all, LeBron. That team is doomed to self destruct regardless of how skilled they are. Egos would be the downfall.

Team 1 seems to be oddly constructed with 2 guards. Not sure the thinking behind that. I’m still saying team 1.

1

u/Iluvpunny 16h ago

It’s a win / win either way. But you I have go with MJ and the boys.

1

u/CalvinBeezle 16h ago

MJ, Steph, and Shaq

1

u/iAmBlind247365 16h ago

Group 1 and it wouldn't even be fair

1

u/BoardFragrant1885 16h ago

Second team with poa defensive guys who can knockdown open shots filling about 5 of the roster spots beating everyone

1

u/Dazzling_End8412 16h ago

In a vacuum, I'm taking MJ, Magic and Hakeem but if this is for modern ball, gotta be Curry, Bird and Kareem

1

u/[deleted] 16h ago

Steph, Bird, and Kareem compliment each other better in the modern NBA specifically. The shooting and passing from Steph and bird would make Kareem's life easy, and Kareem would cover any defensive struggles they have. But any other era, Magic, MJ, and Hakeem is just unfair.

Lebron and Shaq is interesting but I don't think their games actually compliment each other well.

1

u/IGetItILookBrandNew 16h ago

1 or 3 is the only way

1

u/MikeOrTara 16h ago

1.

I'd fill out my team with a few 3 & D wings, a pure shooter type, a rim running big (8th man level), a quick-ish type backup pg and a couple of big bodies.

1

u/xdarkreignx 15h ago

First one is probably the most balanced. Magic can feed them both the ball and you have two scoring threats with two DPOY on the same team. Team two, all three need to have the ball to be effective creating a significant log jam and frustration between the three of them. Team three with Steph and Bird team can can great space and would cause trouble, but defensively Kareem is the only major threat. Bird was decent, Steph is a liability. I see the first team as giving the most in both sides of the floor.

1

u/Exciting_Contest_222 15h ago

Number 1, I’m picking group 3 for chemistry & teamwork. Can see Bird making the shots, and Steph will always be open if Bird is being defended. Kareem being Kareem. They look like they can be cohesive

Number 2, I’m choosing group 1.

Number 3, I’m picking group 2. Group 2 looks like they’ll argue allot. Young Kobe played selfish early on. Then shaq would get fouled too much. I can see the trio arguing allot

1

u/Sweaty_Perception116 15h ago

I love Hakeem and The MJ's but Shaq and LeBron with Kobe as Jordan Jr. that's a lethal combination. Bird Steph and Kareem would be cool af.

1

u/xFc361 15h ago

MJ Bron and Shark

1

u/anyrotmg 15h ago

2 is way too good, LeBon running the offense help Kobe take less bad shot and set up Shaq better.

1

u/weshouldgo_ 15h ago

I think 3 takes it. 2 of the best shooters OAT on the floor at the same time?? And Kareem's (nearly) unblockable sky hook? Good luck with that.

But 1 has much better D than 3. And Jordan.

And then there's 3- no one is stopping prime Shaq.

Anyone who says "...and it's not even close" can't be taken seriously.

1

u/IrexUranus 15h ago

This is close enough that it would largely depend on the players they have around them.

I would choose Kobe-Lebron-Shaq flying blind on the rest of the roster. And I'm an MJ guy through and through. But Shaq makes them a nightmare matchup for anybody, and really tilts things in their favor.

If you put a team of 3 and D guys around MJ, Magic, and Hakeem, and a couple of extra scrub centers to play hack-a-Shaq with, that would be a difficult matchup for virtually any grouping around Bron-Kobe-Shaq. Nothing is guaranteed, it would just create some matchup problems.

Now, the same could be said for the Bron-Kobe-Shaq roster...a bunch of 3 and D guys to spread the floor, including some solid shooting big men on the perimeter, would make them an even bigger nightmare matchup.

But the Kareem-Steph-Bird roster would be the most intriguing to build around. 2 lethal shooters with one of the most savvy big men with an impossible to block shot that he perfected, and could hit from anywhere inside 18 feet...you put the right combo of players around them, and that team could end up being the most OP of the bunch.

2 looks dominant, but I think you’re going to have ego problems. I could see Kobe freezing the other two out, and losing as a result. Which is what happened with the Lakers super team that lost to Detroit.

1

u/Jolly_Party1779 15h ago

Most well balanced is definitely MJ, MJ and Hakeem.

1

u/Novel-Repair-6048 15h ago

Team #2 is OP.

1

u/Mobile-Analyst8580 15h ago

I’m gonna say it once again: Hakeem faced Kareem and Shaqnin the playoffs, and he was clearly better than both. Kareem was old and Shaq was young. But they met and Hakeem was better.

1

u/Its_J_Just_J 14h ago

It’s feels crazy to say the Shaq Kobe LeBron team is the weakest.

1

u/TastyPoopKnife 14h ago

Magic, Michael and The Dream for the win. Hakeem may be the 3rd best center on the list but not by a big margin as he was amazing. But paired with the greatest point guard and greatest player of all time and we are good to go with these 3 players.

Modern Era: Group 3 Pre 3 point revolution: Group 1

1

u/ponyboy56- 14h ago

Geez this one’s a wash to me but if a trade could be made sending Steph to 1 and Magic to 3, then 3 would have the edge.

1

u/Post-Formal_Thought 14h ago
  1. Build out with shooters, defenders and rebounders and we are ready for anyone.

1

u/wyc1inc 14h ago

Kobe and Shaq won 67 games in a season and also went 15-1 in the playoffs in another season. 3 straight titles. And you are going to add either the best or 2nd best player (depending on who you ask) of all time?! My god.

1

u/MadSnikt 14h ago

Nobody is beating Jordan, Magic and Olajuwon

1

u/NP148 13h ago

Even though I'm more of a Bird fan, gotta go with 1. You got great offense and spacing + great defense

1

u/Few-Leader8324 13h ago

2 my only concern is Kobe tbh well Kobe and Shaq all things considering.

1

u/theseustheminotaur 12h ago

Olajuwon and Jordan together is going to be insane. Throw magic in there and that team can run and dominate the glass. Rebounds and defense wins games. It also just so happens you've got 3 very clutch performers too

1

u/BuntDuan 12h ago

Depends on the era. Back in the day they built a team from the inside out. Today they're building NBA teams from the outside in

1

u/eslabs987 12h ago

Team 1. Greatest passer, greatest scorer, greatest defender. Pretty easy to build around

1

u/BLK-DRGN-KATANA31 12h ago

I'm going with JJO, The G.O.A.T not to mention one of the greatest Defensive players ever. One of if not the greatest floor general ever and one of the best bigmen to ever grace the Game. Give me Air, The Dream and Magic all day.

1

u/dominion1080 12h ago

1 no question.

1

u/LandruCasey 12h ago

Man this is a solid hypothetical to keep us entertained until the season starts. All 3 of these lineups are scary.

1.

All players are in their prime!!?? I draft Scottie and Rodman with 1987 MJ / GOAT. I would put money on them vs Kobe Shaq LeFlop or Steph Bird Kareem. MJ + Scottie + Magic + Hakeem fresh prime!!?? Can you imagine Magic playmaker no-look passing with them - or just keeping the ball since SOMEONE has to double cover The GOAT. And we already know how compatible MJ was both Offensively AND Defensively with Scottie and Rodman. 1985 Hakeem would NOT back down from Shaq, and Rodman would wear him / get him in foul trouble by halftime. I agree with another comment here that LeBron is not compatible with Kobe as second fiddle.

Always bet on The GOAT.

u/AsianCastleGyatt 10h ago

Damn

I got 24 Kobe (complete version) 2009-10

I got 34 Shaq Most dominant peak physique 2000-02

And i got the 23 Lebron Cavalier where he was Hungry to bring his land the Championship 2016

1

u/OkDetective2041 10h ago

Magic & MJ is insane, the amount of points scored along with defense? and hakeem? you have a fast, strong, yet offensive group that would dominate.

1

u/colblair 9h ago

2 will give you the best single season before the egos explode. The others will give you a dynasty.

1

u/SplashBroSteph 9h ago

1st and last

1

u/Gontofinddad 9h ago

Basically all even. 2s the worst one because they will break apart and demand trades after a couple years. 3 is the easiest to build a roster around, so I’ll choose 3.

1

u/dolphin56333 8h ago

Lebron is on of the player who had better teammates but less trophies, but y

1

u/OpinionDude5000 7h ago

Group 1 has the goat. The all time shot blocker, and the all timer assist leader.

Group 1 for sure.

1

u/Wilhemar 6h ago

Team 1 easy.

1

u/Inner-Cardiologist43 6h ago

The 3 in the pic

1

u/mellow_magyar 5h ago

Magic-MJ-Hakeem takes the narrow win. They have the best combination of elite perimeter scoring, interior defense, playmaking and two-way versatility. Team Shaq-Kobe-LeBron and Steph-Bird-Jabbar may have glorious offenses, but team 1’s defense wins the games

1

u/GojiraChained93 5h ago

MJ/MJ/Hakeem. I don’t mind 2 but MJ + Hakeem is gonna sell me everytime

1

u/Lazy-Emphasis668 4h ago

Magic, MJ, Hakeem would be a cheat code, that never loses.  MJ and Hakeem both managed to dominate without floor generals like Magic but nice to have, and Magic was one of the best at utilizing teammates

Shaq and Kobe historically had beef, since Shaq's effort during off seasons was unreliable.  dont know how you would fit Lebron in their, who historically needed to be ball dominant, and didnt play well with bigs.

Steph Bird Kaj would have synergy for sure. but hard to compete with MJ Hakeem on the same team.  Steph is kind of weak defensively, and Bird was an ok team defender, but didnt have the athleticism to guard players like MJ.

u/UniversityDeep5919 4h ago

There wasn't a need to scroll anymore after I saw Jordan, Magic, and Dream!

1

u/regal19999 3h ago

Hot take but so is Phil Jackson

1

u/dubrea 3h ago

LeBron Kobe And shaq break basketball. They just need a sniper at PF and sf (bron would need to pg on this team)

1

u/inefekt 3h ago

Best player - Jordan
Best playmaker - Magic
Best defender - Hakeem
Best perimeter defender - Jordan
Best winner - Jordan
Most dominant - Shaq
Best shooter - Curry
Longevity - LeBron

Group 1 - 13 x championships, 9 x MVPs, 3 x DPOYs, 11 x Finals MVPs (35 major trophies)
Group 2 - 13 x championships, 6 x MVPs, 0 x DPOYs, 9 x Finals MVPs (28 major trophies)
Group 3 - 13 x championships, 11 x MVPs, 0 x DPOYs, 6 x Finals MVPs (30 major trophies)

Also 'spend their entire careers with your franchise'. Lol, LeBron is NOT doing that EVER. He has no loyalty, he would find a way to get himself off that team at the first sign of hardship.

1

u/Frozen_Tears14 2h ago

1 for me! They are like the most complete team and the best defenders among the 3 teams.

1

u/WestEndz 2h ago

Jordan magic and hakeem would be unstoppable. No need to even scroll past. Olajuwon schooled shaq in the finals. And shaq even says that.

1

u/Tipiphonehome 2h ago

You got them in the right order.

1

u/Sad_Assumption5203 1h ago

I really like Cap, Curry & Bird, but Dream, Magic and Jesus is naaaaaaaaasty.

1

u/triassic_broth 45m ago

I'm taking LeBron every time. His teammates don't matter.

But if I had a choice I wouldn't choose any of these trios because they don't compliment eachother well.

LeBron and Jordan need to be with at least one star shooter. Ditto Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Kareem and Hakeem.

1

u/Sea_Finest 34m ago

I’ll take Dream, Jordan and Magic.

1

u/Malaburoad 22m ago

Lol that's easy LeBron kobe and Shaq

0

u/girlslikecrypto 16h ago

2 and it’s not even close.

1

u/Tgmg1998 Spurs 16h ago

Honestly Steph, Kareem, and Bird

1

u/nossssss888 16h ago

Ant Jaden Rudy

1

u/antiquity11 14h ago

They're all awesome and I'll take any of them, but probably #2. Just add a spot up 3-point shooter and I don't see how you can beat them.

1

u/ironeagle2006 13h ago

Give me team 1 then for role players throw Rodman on power forward. Trust me if he's winning and getting boards he's happy plus he'll be told you're here to clean the glass and play defense only don't worry about scoring at all. His ass will be happy. At small forward give me Chris Mullin or Dominic Wilkins. Just imagine Magic running the break with the Human highlight reel or Jordan waiting to jump for it.
