Gave the exam a few days ago and just thought I'd write a review.
The majority of the questions were numericals (yes you heard that right), roughly 40/70 questions were numericals where we had to do some calculations to find the answer.
The numericals weren't that hard though, all of them were patterns discussed in the assignments or lectures. There were a lot of questions lifted straight from the assignments though, like direct 1-1 copies, there were also some questions which had some numbers changed here and there.
Best advice I have for you if you're reading this in the future is to go through **ALL** the assignments and make sure to study every single numerical type problem from them.

Do the nptel team send the actual scores of the nptel exam or just the final scores( assignment + exam)
r/NPTEL • u/Strange_One9095 • 16h ago
Can these pyqs be found anywhere? If anyone has attempted this earlier , how tough was the paper compared to the assignments?

HELP ME GUYSSSSSSS
This one course is fuckin nightmare please don’t ever take this course 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have exam on 25th oct and the problem is all of the assignments had like 95% fill in the blank questions and very weird marking scheme. For eg. if got one right answer you get 0.25/0.25 marks 🤡. Whoever is handling this course for the students i hope you fuckin rot in hell.
I got no hopes tbh. I think im gonna fail this course because there is no way I can type exact answers in decimal places and btw if its not exact, they are marked wrong even if you are off by 0.005 range.
Although they have said that they will put some mcqs and match the following questions. Bro…. Wtf is match the following doing in this exam….
Like they only had to give us 50 mcq questions, it was that simple.
Please help if anyone have any tips. And don’t tell me to choose that option which is longer in terms of words because this exam will only have numerical values. 😭🙏

Hi All. I just read this year's assignment and could answer more than 90% of the QS in the exam. I've never read the slides or never the videos. I'm not a IoT guy either. That's my experience this year. That does not mean that you have to follow the same procedure, exam patterns etc may change over time.

I took the NPTEL Understanding Incubation and Entrepreneurship exam on October 18, 2026, as an open elective in my 7th semester. The exam was conducted in two shifts, 9 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM. I appeared for the morning shift, but I also have a few friends who took the afternoon shift, so I can share their experience as well.
Honestly, the exam was very very easy. There were 50 MCQs divided into 3 sections containing 10, 15, and 25 questions, respectively. Almost all the questions came directly from the 12 assignments. Only 1–2 questions were a little difficult to recall otherwise, the paper was pretty straightforward. Everyone I spoke to from both shifts finished answering the questions within around 20 minutes after starting the exam.
The total exam duration was 3 hours, but the submit button was enabled only after the first 90 minutes. So, even if you finish the exam in 20 minutes, you have to sit and wait for the submission button to get enabled.
If you're planning to take this course, just go through all 12 assignments properly. Based on my experience, that should be enough to handle most of the questions. Overall, the exam was very easy, so there's no need to stress too much about it.

Hey everyone!
I'm enrolled in the NPTEL Computer Networks course by Prof. Neminath Hubballi (IIT Indore), and my exam is on 25 October 2026.
Unfortunately, I couldn't watch most of the lectures because I was busy with my college mid-semester exams, quizzes, and other academic work(currently in 3rd year). Now that the exam is very close, I'm trying to prepare as effectively as possible with the limited time I have left.
I'd really appreciate help from anyone who has taken this course's exam previously or is preparing for the upcoming exam.
I have a few questions:
I'm not aiming for perfection at this point; I just want to prepare smartly and score as well as possible.
Any genuine advice, resources, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

r/NPTEL • u/Silly-Bluejay5425 • 1d ago
how to prepare for it???only mcqs or assignments also???
r/NPTEL • u/Informal-Rich-2922 • 1d ago
The paper was divided into three sections
15 X 2 (MCQs)
10 x 2 (True or False)
10 x 5 (subjective questions with 250 word limit)
The subjective questions were very analytical, and cross-cutting. You had to have knowledge of all texts to be able to answer them properly.
It would have been great to prepare if we knew beforehand that this will be the format. It is terrible that they keep this information from us (makes no sense, just tell us what the format is, we can prepare well then!)
Only a few questions were from the assignments and nothing super factual about the authors, just textual reading was tested.
I had scored 25/25 in assignments but don’t think that will keep up with this heavily subjective format of the rest of it.

Need some urgent advice from anyone who has done an NPTEL/Swayam internship before!
Context: I’ve been selected for the 12-week NPTEL Winter Internship at IIT Roorkee. The registration Google Form has a strict deadline of tomorrow (Oct 20). The email clearly states: "In case of non-submission by 20th Oct, the offer will stand withdrawn and extended to waitlisted candidates without further communication."
The Problem:
The Google form has a mandatory file upload for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) signed by my college HOD.
My college is officially closed today and tomorrow for Dussehra holidays. It reopens on Oct 21.
My HOD has agreed on WhatsApp to sign the NOC, but he can only physically give it to me on Wednesday (Oct 21).
What I have done so far:
I got official email approval from my IIT Roorkee professor allowing me to take short leaves for my college end-semester exams.
I emailed the NPTEL support team asking for a 24-hour extension to submit the NOC, but haven't received a reply yet.
My Question:
Since I physically cannot get the NOC by tomorrow's deadline, my plan is to create a "Placeholder PDF" containing screenshots of the IIT Professor's approval email and my HOD's WhatsApp message confirming he will issue it on the 21st. I plan to upload this to the Google form to beat the Oct 20 deadline, and then email NPTEL the real NOC on Wednesday.
Has anyone done this before? Will the automated system or admin team instantly reject my application if the uploaded file isn't the official stamped NOC? What is the best way to save my seat?
Any help is really appreciated! 🙏

So a few days ago I asked in this sub how to prep for this exam and for any pointers and as usual got no valuable replies so I thought maybe my experience would help someone in the future, so here u go..
So first off I was confused as which ai related course I should choose so I picked 2, first this one and the other ai: foundations and algorithms. I registered for both but after looking at first 2-3 weeks assignments of both this course seemed easier as the foundations one had msq and fill in type questions. So I registered for this one's exam only (ai related)
Moving on....(It's a 12 week course btw)
I had the exam today. 2nd shift.
I didn't study much only the weekly quizzes.I thought those should be enough as only 50 questions r asked.
(And the weekly quizzes questions were pretty straight forward less calculations and only mcq type.)
BUT🙂
The 1st sec had 15 q (2 marks each) all were msq types. I DID NOT EXPECT THAT...☠️
2nd sec had 25 questions (2 marks each) 1st 15 q were mcq which went goodish and the rest 10 were calculation based in which u had to type the answer.
I DID NOT EXPECT THAT EITHER..☠️⚰️
so yeah I guessed and used common sense and that part went umm nvm🙂
3rd sec had 10 q (2 marks each) and it had only mcq ...pretty easy and assignment quizzes based.
So yeah overall I won't be scoring high🤧. I'll pass by a margin I think🤔.
If those mf msq and calc based questions were not there I would've done better. But I wouldn't have guessed as the weekly quizzes didn't have them.
If u take this course prep well is all I would say.
