Discussion Why do you think the concept of Aliens in the verse was bad given everything that already existed?
So I KEEP seeing people say, “It was a bad Idea to introduce Aliens into the Story”, in one way shape or form. Whether or not you like the Otsutsuki of the way they were implemented, we’re just discussing the concept of Aliens in Naruto.
Aliens were introduced in the series within the last year of its publication when Kaguya was introduced by Madara’s story to Hashirama, but from the beginning of the series and throughout, we’ve been introduced to:
1.) Superhuman’s (Ninja)
2.) Other Species of Human (Kisame)
3.) Supernatural Abilities (Ninjutsu)
4.) Kaiju (Animal Summons & Biju)
5.) Hulk-Like Transformations (Curse Mark)
6.) Zombies (Edo Tensei / Pain Bodies)
7.) Chakra Mechs/Avatars (Susanoo/Kurama Avatar)
So I have to ask… What isn it about the concept of “Aliens” that takes you out of the series? Or is it not actually the concept of Aliens existing, just implementation of them.

Naruto follows the fantasy people think of when they think of ninja.
Using elemental abilities that interact with the world, the hand signs, and being silent/invisible ninja.
The concept to be made more interesting has this taken to the extreme by using chakra, energy of the body, to manipulate the world around you and the people who themselves also hold chakra.
If people are using these elemental attacks they would need to be superhuman at baseline to be able to jump high, move fast, fight for days.
Animal summons follow that principle of interacting with nature through the chakra of both parties. Having them talk might be a little far fetched but it’s not a huge stretch given these abilities.
Biju kind of make sense because they serve as an origin story to where chakra was built from. You can derive chakra from ancestral beasts without leaving into the alien race route.
In regard to kisame and weird animal people, it could be the result of experimentation using these new elemental powers/applications of chakra, or just a side effect at birth for these elements in some way. There are so many things we can do in real life we never would have dreamed of so imagining how crazy those effects would be if elemental powers were the norm makes these situations more normal for the verse.
Curse mark is a jutsu trying to replicate natural chakra. This can be seen as a “messing with the natural order of things” or honestly just mixing things together and getting a bad outcome.
Kind of like if you mix two chemicals and they explode when trying to get a different outcome. Still makes sense.
I will say Susanoo is absolutely bullshit. The skeleton (first stage) can make sense, but once they start getting into the walking mechs is when it starts to get into the “this isn’t a show about ninjas”.

Yeah, I think Susanoo hurt that aspect of the series. Like you said, if it remained at the Ribs stage, sure but when you introduced the full mech, you create a domino effect.
But that’s what i’m saying right? He did that, but he also threw in his spin on Zombies… eventually, Aliens existing doesn’t become farfetched, but when people start saying they were a bad idea for the series, that’s when I have to look at it like… Os it though? XYZ already exist.

I wanted to see more of the other civilizations getting steamrolled and how they fought back. Chakra monsters vs high tech natives would have been a great spin off.

Yeah that part of the lore always kinda irked me we always hear about the otsutskis killing other planets but we never see these other races, like if you're gonna do the alien stuff don't all the way don't half ass it

There's a reason why the "Giant Space Flea From Nowhere" is considered a bad trope to use. People don't like the rug being pulled out from them at the last second, especially when it becomes obvious that it didn't add anything other than be sequel bait for Boruto.

That’s what I’m saying though, that objection isn’t a concept-based objection to their existence. It’s the implementation that you’re pointing out.
Let me ask you this… Do you think there was a better way to do Otsutsuki in the verse, avoiding that objection? Or do you just think Aliens in general, no matter the implementation is not a fit for the series.

I liked the ninja anime being about ninjas not aliens with godlike reality warping powers.

i just want more ninja stuff. the kaijus and gundams could definitely be cut back as well

I actually like the otsutsuki Clan conceptually
Their whole theme is Japanese folklore heroes turned into space invaders.
Their designs are also neat

Aliens always seem like an bridge to far but its also kind if unavoidable with a lot of shonen that go to on to long if you’re constantly having to build up stakes and make each enemy more powerful than the last eventually you will inevitably reach a point that you end up fighting with aliens or God, or in the case of Dragon Ball both

I think people usually tie aliens to modern pop culture. But the Otsutsuki still followed the design of ancient folklore gods, which Naruto has always done so I don't think they look out of place at all. It's probably the introduction that felt too late

The Otsutsuki are bad because they're basically all the fucking same when the series is fundamentally opposed to that. They aren't people, they're parasites. You can't reason with them, so they have nothing to ground them in reality.
If the Otsutsuki were extra terrestrial but had unique goals, had values that let them be agreeable or flexible, they would be infinity more enjoyable to have as characters.
In my mind, the first Otsutsuki after Kaguya should have been an ally.

Came out of nowhere and it was introduced towards the end of the series

That’s implementation then, not a concept related issue. Or do you think Aliens really do not fit the series, in spite of everything else introduced in it, Kaiju, Zombies, Avatars, etc.

I think the concept of Aliens was fine. I think most people have a problem with the implementation of it and through concept with. If it was implemented into the story better, then most people wouldn't have a problem with the concept
