Bloodline. Old but good.

Came here to say this. Not even my usual type of show and I’ve rewatched it 3x already. When you finish the series watch the movie!!

u/dylhen Sep 03 '26

Didn't love the movie tbh. I prefer the series ending as a hard end. Just my take tho. Felt the exact same way about peaky blinders.

u/TurnOutrageous25 Sep 03 '26

Totally get that, my friend and I followed the series together and she felt that way about the movie too. Haven’t watched peaky blinders yet but it’s on my list! I didn’t know there was a movie too so that’s exciting

Wait did you guys watch Vikings? I'm trying so hard to get through it but I can't help but compare it to last kingdom and it falls SO short.

3

u/TurnOutrageous25 Sep 03 '26

I tried and couldn’t get past season 4 I think but she’s rewatched it a few times now, i feel like last kingdom is so much more plot and character heavy, Vikings just didn’t get me as invested. Vikings Valhalla was good though!!

And thanks for the peaky rec! it’s way past time to check that one off my list, only been sitting in my watch later for years haha

Don't wait another day on Peaky! One of the best series I've ever seen. My husband & I both loved it.

1

u/dylhen Sep 03 '26

Peaky was a great ride. Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy kinda carry it but thankfully they're very present.

Someone recommended it and I went through it so fast. So great.

u/IngenuityThink1614 Sep 03 '26

The episodes are 30 mins, they go by quickly. The show surprised me with how much I genuinely enjoyed it and I have been anxiously waiting for season two.

Saw “I Swear” last night on Netflix.
True story about and English youth how has everything going for him but at 15 yrs old develops _Tourettes syndrome. Sad yet funny and a good feel ending.

I asked ChatGPT to enlist all of Harlan Coben's in descending order of their IMDB. And started watching.. here's the list -

The Innocent (7.8) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Stranger (7.2) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Safe (7.2) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stay Close (6.9) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fool Me Once (6.8) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Run Away (6.9) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Woods (6.5) ⭐⭐⭐½ Caught (6.5) ⭐⭐⭐½ Gone for Good (6.3) ⭐⭐⭐ Hold Tight (6.2) ⭐⭐⭐ Just One Look (6.2) ⭐⭐⭐ Missing You (6.1) ⭐⭐⭐

Netflix currently groups 12 of these in its Harlan Coben collection, while newer releases such as I Will Find You and Lazarus are also Coben adaptations.

Some other underrated/less explored recommendations(consideringyou have watched all the basic ones like better call saul, mindhunter etc.)-

  1. Behind her eyes
  2. The stranger
  3. The beast in me
  4. The Chestnut man (crime & thriller)
  5. Karma (parasite movie type)
  6. Dept Q
  7. His and Hers
  8. How to get to heaven from belfast
  9. Half bad
  10. Locke & Key
  11. Lovkwood & Co
  12. The residence ( very entertaining)
  13. Signal (korean)
  14. Silent Truth (korean)
  15. Mouse (Korean)
  16. The sinner
  17. I will find you

Heartfelt- 1. Move to heaven 2. Fisk (comic) 3. Voicemail for isabelle (movie)

I just watched The Life of Chuck. It's a Stephen King movie, and it haunts you king after the credits roll. I recommend it.

Lots of good shows and series listed here. For a few laughs you could watch a quick comedy movie. I just saw The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy and it was hilarious.

Watch Dark and don't let the subtitles or dubbing discourage you. It's a perfect show.

Shows with other quirky Aussie leading men Dark matter, The Mentallist, Hawaii Five O, the Glades, Longmire, Mr Inbetween

or netflix mystery types other than the harlan coban ones - Good Girls guide to murder, lincoln lawyer, night agent, the diplomat, black doves, Dept. Q, Untamed (this is both actually), man on Fire

u/Terrible_Welder2954 Sep 03 '26
