New Mod Intros 🎉 | Weekly Thread
Congrats on becoming a new moderator. Every community on Reddit started exactly where you are today: with a party of one.
The community-building journey might feel a little lonely and that's what r/NewMods is for. Here you'll find and connect with other mods who are on the same journey you are.
So, introduce the community you created. Maybe share a little bit about why you created it. And, while you're at it - say hello to your other mods!

💡 Tips & Education Any tip please?
I created meme subreddit on 24 september and I've been managing everything completely on my own. I'm posting content, handling the traffic spikes, and trying to build it up, but honestly, it feels like I'm doing all the heavy lifting alone while everyone else is just lurking. How do you guys manage a community by yourself when no one else is posting? Any advice for a solo mod trying to keep a sub active?

❓Ask r/NewMods u/JBMagi is seeking to moderate sfw – new mod looking for a team to shadow
Hi all,
I'm hoping to find a mod team willing to take on a trainee. I've never moderated before, and I'd rather learn it properly from people who know what they're doing than figure it out alone.
What I'm asking for: a chance to shadow your team for a few weeks. Start me with limited permissions (or none at all), let me watch how you handle the queue, reports, and modmail, and I'll ask questions as I go. Once you're comfortable with my judgment, I'm happy to take on whatever grunt work you need.
About me:
7-year-old account, 2FA on, verified email
Business owner, about 25 years in construction
Based in Florida, usually online mornings and evenings ET
Reliable, take feedback well, and won't go rogue with permissions
What I want to learn:
Mod queue and removal reasons
AutoModerator basics
Handling modmail and difficult users
I'd especially like SFW subs in construction, home building, home improvement, Florida/local communities, or hockey, but I'm open to anything that's a good fit.
If your team has room for a trainee, comment or DM me. Thanks!

❓Ask r/NewMods should i open one community? is it too early on reddit?
r/NewMods • u/Squishy-Lover-101 • 1d ago
Wins 🎉 LET'S GO!!!
I know it ain't much, but still, I JUST GOT MY FIRST 3 WEEKLY VISITORS!! I basically just posted a bunch and 3 times a day (only 3 because I don't want to be flagged for spam) I Replied to comments or Comment on Posts that are related to my Subreddit. I wrote to them that I wanted them to join, and i guess they did!

❓Ask r/NewMods r/AskJapan
Hi. I'm not a new mod, but I am newly moderating r/AskJapan
And frankly, I need help.
I mean - it's definitely a cool subreddit name, and I think it has huge potential, but I feel lost about how to begin.
I removed all the bans and mutes (about 100),
I've made pathetic banners and icons - those definitely need fixing,
I added my two rules,
I tried to mention "new sub" in some other Japanese subreddits, but most of them banned and muted me without discussing it. Including \r/Japan. So meh. I've similarly got myself banned for "spam" by mentioning it on several other Japan-related subs.
I've posted in "needamod", asking for ones that speak the language. But that post was removed - IDK why; I've asked the mods. They haven't responded.
Now what?

Wins 🎉 Thrilled and thankful for hitting the 50 members mark
The r/puzzleseason community has been slowly but surely growing!
What worked (in order of helpfulness):
Introducing myself in the newmods weekly thread helped a lot so thank you for that!
Regular posting of content and no spamming
Posting informative and techniques about solving puzzles
Engaging in other related subreddits with genuine posts also helped some
What didn't work:
Cross posting is tough and mostly not possible. Even with explicit permission of the mods didn't work out for me
Asking for polls didn't lead to engagement on the subreddit
Scheduling posts isn't possible with images which was a bummer
Any suggestions or tips for improving further?

❓Ask r/NewMods Wiki isn't showing up? Even though there's a page made
Hi! I'm the mod of r/kinusaiga. I'm making a wiki to help beginners get started, but when I made my first page today, there's no way to access that as a user despite having public visibility on (you don't see it from the subreddit). Please advise! Thank you!

Wins 🎉 (Almost) hit 99 members in three weeks

Our little community, r/ColourMap, is getting close to 99 members!
It might not seem like a huge number, but for a small subreddit dedicated to my game, ColourMap, this is a big milestone!
❓Ask r/NewMods Getting lots of visits and new members but...
Hi, my sub reddit seems to be going well, BUT I'm the only one posting... I post once a day, everyday, but I'm not getting much comments and even less posts from other members...
Why nobody's taking part in the community ?
My community is about French learning, and I post a Word of the Day. Should I post other things as well ?
Any tips on why I'm not getting interaction? Are my stats still good news or not ?
I don't know what to think about this, it's my first sub reddit.
I'd appreciate any advice, thank you !

❓Ask r/NewMods How do I see the followers on my sub.
I’ve made 3 posts to the sub.
It says I’m now an inactive moderator.
How do I fix this.
Also, I had a stalker right now who is likely trying to take over the sub (which has three followers, all of whom are likely them).
How do I see who the followers are on my sub?
Also I posted to that sub 2 weeks ago; why am I considered inactive?
Also, there is a real human who is stalking me on here; with 8 accounts thet have contacted me over 100 times in the last day or two.
They are likely trying to take over this sub, iust bc they are that abusive and shitty of a human. How do I deal with that?

Wins 🎉 25 weekly visitors! Small win, but I’ll take it :)

A small milestone, but it’s nice to see our little community growing :) If you feel like stopping by r/Empacer and joining the conversation, you’re very welcome. No pressure at all!

❓Ask r/NewMods How do you handle possible rule violations when you’re unsure?
Hi guys I became a new mod a few weeks ago and I still have doubts about whether a post or comment breaks the rules even after reading them
How do more experienced mods handle situations like this? Could you share your experience and tips?
