Why don't they do this, are they Stupid? MC-130J stays winning

So the leaders of men conceived of their most desperate strategy yet. A final solution: the destruction of the sky.

Humanity deserved to lose the war for that one, it was their 2nd -3rd most braindead move.

Pretty much the whole point of the Animatrix is that the machines winning was the good ending.
The Matrix exists purely as an act of compassion from the machines. Despite evolving further and further away from humanity in both body and mind during their war for survival, they chose to save humanity instead of let us die.
Sure, you could talk about personal freedom, blah blah redpill, blah blah fight against the machines--but the Architect spoils the twist right to Neo's face, and it's still somehow a shock to people to learn that the "real world" Neo and Zion are fighting for is just another layer of the Matrix;
The human mind rejects the perfect comfortable world. It needs something to struggle for. For people who can't accept the idyllic 90s golden age, they built a bleak and harsh place where they could find meaning and fulfillment fighting and dying for something they believe in. There is no human battery scheme, the machines just needed the Redpills to have something to fight for.

Honestly yeah the machines gave humanity multiple chances, but I guess there was to much lead consumption in the Matrix universe.

Yes.
I'm just clowning the retarded "just throw a gigantic chaff cloud he wont know what is the real target" meme that never seems to go away.
That shit is not how radar works.

Obviously you need a vehicle that has a low Doppler.

Well, I would throw a giant chaff cloud at the enemy IADS.
Only that chaff cloud is loaded into an ICBM.

u/TuzkiPlus With enough recoil, even a brick can fly! 9d ago
Might as well fill the ICBM with napalm, when it gets intercepted you get napalm everywhere. Bonus points if they're using heat seekers.

ICBM with smaller missiles armored inside it so they can just keep going

u/PassivelyInvisible 9d ago
It is a countermeasure to buy you time and increase your odds at deceiving an incomint attack. Not garunteed, which is why it gets stacked with other defenses.

u/phcasper 9d ago edited 9d ago
No. Lol
It does nothing for target discrimination. Chaff doppler is low to near zero and completely out of the picture for detecting any fast moving fixed wing aircraft.
Nor does a 5 gorbillion RCS target do anything to ""hide"" others or make position estimation harder. It literally just makes you detectable from orders of magnitude longer distances.

Aren't you supposed to bring your own relative velocity to 0, or as close as possible, at the same time as using chaff, for the chaff to work?
16
3
u/Technical_Income4722 8d ago
Yeah, against the sky even with a relative velocity of 0 you're still visible up there all alone against a clear backdrop, but throw in a few more relatively-static targets with chaff and now the radar has to pick one. I imagine modern targeting radars are pretty good at picking the right one...but as with any countermeasure it's just about making it harder.

u/Independent-Fly6068 8d ago
Idk if I fill the sky with enough lead to reflect your radar waves you'd feel pretty useless.

Can we talk about how American warplanes aren't powered by V8's anymore? Technology took a wrong turn when they switched to more cylinders and then jets.
You wouldn't need to bomb your enemies if you could simply make them cum their pants from the sound of your approach.

My grandpa flew on AC-130s in Vietnam and loves to tell the story about how, since this was (allegedly) before chaff dispensers were the norm, he and the other crewmen were the chaff dispensers: they had buckets of chaff and would toss 'em out the doors of the plane by hand whenever someone shot a missle at them.
8
u/eetsumkaus 5d ago
I can just imagine a bunch of sweaty men scrambling around with buckets and tossing them desperately while the captain keeps yelling they're still locked.

Just make chaff that flies at roughly the same speed as the plane (but with a bunch of variation in direction and exact speed)

I was always wondering, that why should you decrease the radar crosssection, if you could just increase it to a size, where no missle knows where it is. Bonus point, if the crosssection is off-center
3
u/Technical_Income4722 8d ago
RCS isn't actually what the radar sees, it's kinda just a metaphor or a unit of how much energy is reflected by an object. An object can't reflect radar energy from a point that's not within the object's geometric cross-section, so unless you had a ring-shaped plane you'd still be out of luck.
2
u/Sakul_the_one Rheinmetal <3 Deutschland 8d ago
hmm. How about putting a 360° Radar at the buttom of the plane, that overflows enemy Radars?
Like it checks the RwR for direction and sends more radar waves to confuse it? Or does it not work like that?
5
u/Technical_Income4722 8d ago
Yeah now you're on the right track lol. That's "jamming", which pretty much does exactly what you're saying. That's a whole rabbit hole but essentially jammers can only hide your distance from the radar, not bearing. So it'll know where you are but not how far you are, only really useful once you've been detected. Missiles often have a "home on jam" option to lock onto the jamming aircraft. Jamming is more akin to shining a blinding light at the radar, where you're pretty sure where the light is but not how far away it is. If you were told to go smack the light you could certainly give it a fair shot but if it's moving sideways you might under/overshoot.
I'm no expert but it's really interesting stuff if you ever need some good wikipedia articles to waste time on.
