I'll inform the tomcat maintainers.
They should be ready for discharge from the mental asylum.

one of the things I love the most about the Tomcat is that the B and D variants could take off from the carrier with a full payload and didn't need afterburner because, in the words of a Tomcat flight crew, it had excess power on the catapult. sounds ridiculous

awesome video, but why the Hornet music in a Tomcat video?

Watch Speed and Angels, a great docu about the last cohort of pilots trained on the F-14

Wish it had not been retired when it was and instead kept flying for years.
Beautiful plane.

Beautiful plane whose time has passed. Still my favorite plane, but the US no longer needed such an older costly airframe to keep flying, and the Hornet family traded some range and performance for much lower sustainment cost and higher readiness.
For perspective, the maintenance on the Tomcats was about 3x that of Hornets.

Just let it go already. Â It's been over 15 years. Â Jesus. Â No other Vietnam vintage jet gets this much internet fanboy wankery.
Well, maybe the A-10. Â Which has one thing in common with the Tomcat. Â They'd both be slaughtered in a modern fight.

a modern Tomcat version would be about as useful as an F-15E. and the A-10 would actually have had a role in Ukraine at the start of the war, given the Bayraktar videos we've seen

40 mile long stalled convoy is an A10 pilots wet dream

Somewhere in eastern Europe, they say you can still hear the pilot weeping late at night because they didn't let him sortie
