Group chats in mixed company

So i have a solid group chat of friends from high school (20+ year friendships). It’s evenly split betwixt OSU grads and Sooner Fans. For the past several years we’ve texted about football nearly every Saturday. Even the last two years. It’s been oddly quiet the past 3-4 weeks for some reason…

Anyone else having the same issues on their Bedlam-based group chats?

OU isn’t a school it’s the start of a sentence, OU didn’t go there either. And no I don’t have any banter because the OU grads I know and work with aren’t complete chimps and I could care less about people that didn’t go to school there, I normally ask those people why they don’t root for Alabama or Ohio State because those schools are better than OU and they didn’t go there either.

Okay, so let me offer this scenario. Since I'm a Sooner grad I raised my boys to ne Sooner fans. But my oldest went to a college that didn't have a D1 football program, so he has retained his OU fandom. In fact, he's always wanted to see an away game so we went to the Michigan game together this year.

At any rate, what's the consensus on him? Is he permitted to be a legitimate OU football fan? Or is he disallowed since he didn't go there?

Personally, my rules are you can be a legit fan if any of these are true 1) you graduated from there 2) you went to a small college that didn't have a D1 sports program, 3) you paid someone's tuition who went there 4) you have a family member who is attending there (nuclear family) and your college didn't have a D1 program. If none of the criteria are met, then I agree that person is a "tee shirt fan"

Thoughts?

Be a fan of whoever scratches your itch. I'm from an era that only OSU grads were fans of OSU (because we were marginal at best) - Les, then Gundy started to turn the ship just as I was leaving school. My kids, by order of transitive properties, can and should be OSU fans. I think your rules are legit.

This is real talk. None of the sooner fans have said anything since we lost to TU. But we aren’t the ones who talk any trash. Especially the last 2 years

My OU friends have been quiiiiite! Except for one, he said that OSU could leave our defense at home and OSU would still beat OU this year with how they are looking hahaha but overall he is pretty pumped for OSUs comeback
