I know this is googleable and that psychtoday has a search engine but this is sensitive enough that it would be nice to hear personal recommendations. I'm trying to help a loved one find some help with coping with quitting drinking that isn't just AA - their story doesn't quite line up with what AA focuses on and they feel like it's not as helpful to them as it is to others.

I'd love to know if any therapist or clinic around the Rochester/Troy/Utica area has been especially helpful to anybody here or their loved ones. Bonus if they're LGBT friendly/experienced, double bonus if they might have some experience with religious trauma.

This would have been later evening 10/12 or early morning 10/13. Did anyone else hear it? It sounded like thunder but there was just one loud boom, no followup, no lightning I saw, and there was no rain at the time. Anyone know what was going on?

Hi! I homeschool my two neurospicy kiddos (ages 7&9) and I’m looking for other families in the area that we can go on field trips with and just be able to plan weekly hikes and other fun things. Before COVID I had a lovely group for my eldest (who’s since graduated) but that was in a different county, not to mention it dissolved. I feel as if it’s harder to find groups like these now?!
If anyone could point me in the right direction to be able to find recommendations and also some resources that the county may offer.

Oakland County gardeners- what's your plan tonight? Are you bringing in all the veggies still out there and calling it a season?

I have quite a few tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and tomatillos that could use another week or so of growing. However, it could frost tonight with the forecast as low as 41.

I also have a bunch of Dahlia flowers I could consider bringing in.

I'm curious what everyone thinks!

I know Michigan has the taxable value uncapping rule after a ownership transfer, but I want to make sure I am calculating the millage rate jump correctly for Rochester Hills specifically. Is there a local calculator or tax estimator tool you rely on?

Me and my partner are looking at wedding venues and want to get married in 2028. I have always loved this as my dream venue, as I want to get married on a budget in a garden venue, and I also love its on the lake. The only concern I have is that the maximum amount of time you can book for the day is 2 hours.

My question is if we’re having a smaller wedding at around 75 people, and I want to have enough time to take photos there of the wedding party, me and my groom, and with family, will we have enough time plus the ceremony? We wouldn’t want a super long ceremony, but I’m worried 2 hours won’t be enough time for everything. For anyone who has been to a wedding here or had their wedding here, what was your review of the place? Was there enough time for everything?

Another issue we might have is finding a reception hall to have the rest of the wedding after our 2 hour block is done. We want somewhere close to a hotel or has one built in to stay overnight as this would be a wedding a bit away from where we live. Anyone have any recommendations for places near this venue?

Lastly, if this place isn’t the right fit for us, anyone have any budget friendly venues under 5k preferably or close to that budget, that would have a similar setting like this in Michigan? With an outdoor garden?
