Recommendations for lower back pain?
Hey Office Chairs!
I have been lurking for a while so I’ll try to make this as straightforward as possible.
I have lower back pain and yet, have to sit at a desk all day. Then I sit at the same desk and game at night. Wait for it… I’m sitting on a wooden dining chair with a cushion xxx
I’d love to hear your thoughts about the best “being for your buck” office chair that supports the lower back.
I’m a graduate student, so money ain’t flowing. I found a steel case leap v2 for $550, but that’s out of my price range. Hoping to spend up to $250 max
I’ve been scouring FB marketplace with no luck for at least a month. Hopefully there’s a chair out there for me!

Keep searching. You can likely find a Leap v2 from a private seller close to your budget. But I would echo what was said. No matter the chair you are in, taking breaks is key to success. Spending 8 to 12+ in a bad chair is unbearable, but even in a good chair you’ll develop pain from being locked into a chair too long.
I have a standing desk and use a walking pad for 1-3 hours a day. It’s been a game changer for my health and doesn’t feel like exercise and allows me to stay productive during the day. But it allows me to move more and still get after a lot of the things I’d do sitting.

Get a chair with lower back support built into the backrest. Don’t get one that has a flat back with just padding.
Used office furniture stores are a good place to check. You can sit in a few chairs before you pay. In my experience their stock comes and goes, so a new chair makes a good backup. Price is probably around $100-300
If you want something newer, there are Desky chairs that are around $100 to $300 and up.

Exercise, stretch, mobility work. Everything at least 3x a week.
