Room is too big and too square.

Very little can be done outside creative decorating like raising one side and creating an attic or subdividing the square into an L shape and creating a balcony.

Edit: you could also raise the south and north walls and make a barn style roof

You could put a open or closed garden on the roof with solar panels to help breakup the monotony. Though it might be a bit difficult to pull off something nice without using some of the furniture items you can only get in the store.

If you prefer a more aesthetic building structure, which in turn will help with your roofing problem, your current house looks like it's trying to go for that Victorian era American plantation housing design with the wrap-around porch. If you search google for images of those types of houses, you'll see they breakup the monotony by making use of indentation and keeping things tight. Roofs will look their best when you stick to rectangular structures (3x2, 4x2) rather than squares (3x3, 4x4, etc.) with 2x2 rooms being the only square exception due to its ability to conform to corners. Looking at your screenshot, it looks like your core is 8x6 tiles, which is quite big and more difficult to fill in the space aesthetically unless you breakup your building into townhouses (6x4 in the front and back) or quad townhouse design (4x3 in the front and back, 2x8 on the sides) .

And as a side tip, don't feel the need to make your homes 100% Florivox Cabin set. The base game sets are actually good at creating a wide variety of styles that fit. The standard wood set for example is a more fitting design for Victorian era housing. Florivox Cabin shines much better when used towards Victorian gothic or A-frame cabins.

Here are some keywords you can search for images online to help breakup the monotony of your structures. Remember, it's all about rectangles, not squares. That's your key to better roofing.

1. Buttresses (great for gothic structures)
2. Dormers (universally nice)
3. Wings (or Ells, or Upright and Wing). L, T, H, -|-, |- are examples of how to orient and design your wings. Wings also help you keep rectangular grids rather than squares, which are much easier to create aesthetic designs.
4. Single window balconies. The indentation breaks up flat looking walls. For example, you could leave your wrap-around porch at the ground level, but then use single balconies on the second floor to help breakup the pattern. The cabin set has nice all-glass single door that you can use with a half-wide floors (0x5 x 1 tile) and white fencing from the standard wood set.
5. A-Frame housing, which works amazingly well with the Florivox Cabin set. A-Frames can also be multi-layered. So you have a small triangle at ground level with indented doorway to enter the house, then a second floor that is 1 tile back from the first floor, but has a 0.5 tile forward indent on the A-frame roofing to create what looks like a nice cut-out. Lots of ways you can play this out, as well as adding balconies and turrets to create powerful designs.
6. Housing turret. These also look fantastic with the Florivox Cabin set because the round walls have an all-glass option, and the round roof tops give a nice and sharp chateau look.
