Paolo was the only one that turned up..
5
u/SharkNBA Apr 20 '24
more like Paolo was the only one that turned over 😭
0
u/SonicNarcotic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
First Playoff game..?! Geez, remember what were you doing at 21yo..? Cut him some slack, the guy is in control of our destiny...
4
5
u/misterdave75 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Mo, Suggs and JI played their hearts out, but sadly they couldn't help much on offense.
3
u/SonicNarcotic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Paolo's defence was there too.. Unfortunately his turnovers were high today, but it was his first taste of Playoff basketball, so..
Mo, Suggs and JI brought great energy in moments, but overall the entire team seemed to be suffering from stage-fright (nerves)...

u/doublegg00 Goga Bitadze Apr 20 '24
this was just game 1 boys. our team is young and the best way to learn is experience
4
u/bchill13 Apr 20 '24
83 points just ain't gonna cut it. When offense is such a struggle, can't miss as many free throws as this team does.
5
u/themoreyouknow_95 Apr 20 '24
This game sucks, but people should chill on drawing big conclusions for the series. Playoffs are not the same as the regular season, big swings happen all the time.
I don't feel great with the way our offense has been closing out the year but there's still a lot of basketball left to be played.
4
u/johall Apr 20 '24
We shot historically bad and still got within 15. Make FTs and even SOME more 3’s and we’re going to be ok
2
u/theImplication69 Apr 21 '24
Cavs also shot historically bad from 3. 0-18 run
0
u/johall Apr 21 '24
44% from the floor and 81% FTs. Let’s not act like they were offensively awful
12% better from the floor, 18% better FT
2
u/6142778WC Apr 20 '24
Just 1 game. All we need to do is steal one in cLEAVEland. Let's get it Monday night. MAGIC TOGETHER!!
3
u/Background_Ruin_5880 Apr 20 '24
Donovan Mitchell is such a likable player.
2
u/SonicNarcotic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Without Mitchell, that's a pretty poor team... He played really well overall, took control of the game several times when we started clawing it back...

Remember Rafer Alston? Yeah, I'd take him right about now....at least he showed up to playoff games.

u/Mr-Mills Franz Wagner Apr 20 '24
Sad. We all thought it would happen like this, but still really depressing to see our offense shit the bed like this. Our point total is dog shit.
2
7
u/5nax Doris Burke Apr 20 '24
Trailed by 10+ for the entire game with very occasional runs to get out hopes up. Once again hoping for better offense next game.
4
u/Chao-Z Apr 20 '24
Lights too bright for the young team today
-6
u/tofubeanz420 Apr 20 '24 edited Apr 20 '24
Nah no 3pt shooting all season.
2
u/SonicNarcotic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Our shooting percentages were all down on our averages.. Meaning, we can and have shot better, but not today...
11
u/Careless-Yam-3823 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
AB needs minutes that are going to Gary and fultz
3
u/themoreyouknow_95 Apr 20 '24
This, he may be the best defender of the three, and frankly can't shoot any worse than any of them
2
u/Yung_Hibachi Apr 20 '24
Embarrassing! But we didn’t need to make any moves at the deadline I was told. This is what was always gonna happen.
3
u/mylastphonecall Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
insane how we were beating teams like the Celtics and starting AB and Goga and we stopped running that lineup and we start dropping easy games and getting killed this game on boards and in the post 🤔
0
u/GeraltFromHiShinUnit Franz Wagner Apr 20 '24
Idiot
1
u/mylastphonecall Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
that's about the level of analysis I expected from your post history💀
1
u/Dr_McPogi Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
You know that was 60 games ago right? What a pointless observation. Get over it. We're not starting AB and Goga in the playoffs.
0
u/mylastphonecall Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
yes because observing what consistently beat contenders is a pointless observation... nice. love how this sub is full of people that continuously show they don't know ball. you should link me your take on who we should pick #1 in the Paolo draft.
0
u/Dr_McPogi Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
It really is. I like Goga but he hasn't played meaningful minutes for at least half the season. He's not going to be tossed in there now. They've got Mo and Wendell playing at the same time because these are guys Mos trusts even though they basically got no minutes together all year. So whatever you and I think about a guy who has 3 other centers ahead of him is pointless and just adds to the negativity. I can see AB getting minutes, but trying to make a point that AB and Goga starting is the answer, is just you trying to be clever. It's a 7 game series. Get it together.
And I wanted Chet, happy with Paolo, didn't want Jabari. I also wanted Okafor instead of Dwight. What other pointless shit you wanna banter about?
1
u/mylastphonecall Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
at that point literally every comment is useless because we aren't the coach. online forums are for discussions, saying a comment is useless or pointless because you are not quite literally the coach and going out of your way to be an asshole is what brings negativity.
lmfao makes sense. I don't trust the opinion of anyone that thought Chet could be a first option or thought he was the guy for this team. always flawed logic and lacking ball knowledge.
literally everything is pointless to you so stfu and stop replying then

u/escapedhousefly Jett Howard Apr 20 '24
Magic lost this game. Cavs gave us plenty of chances but we couldn't take advantage.

81 points in a playoff game in the year 2024
1
u/GrapefruitMedical529 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
I know it's the Magic but...this is still what I hoped for just...reverse the scores

u/Niceshotpiccolo Desmond Bane Apr 20 '24
We need to figure out how to make it work without Harris cause he’s fucking horrible
3
u/SonicNarcotic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
I'd rather see AB missing all those shots.. (at least he'll be learning as a rook)..
7
u/gabelliot93 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Anthony black over Gary Harris and fultz
0
u/stinx2001 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
I'm big on AB but he's not even close to ready.
1
u/gabelliot93 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
I agree, but if Harris and fultz are gonna play and make absolutely no shots, I might as well was a taller defender out there
4
u/stinx2001 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
I think I'd rather start WCJ over him to match up with Cavs bigs.
2
8
u/EffectiveExact8306 Apr 20 '24
Gary Harris needs to be off the team. He is probably the worst player I’ve seen in my life — worse than Chris Duhon.
2
u/jwil06 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Lol, a professional basketball team shooting 30% from the field and missing 11 free throws. Unreal.
7
u/dlbags Wendell Carter Jr. Apr 20 '24
Wild to lose a playoff game from not being able to hit free throws.

Apr 20 '24
Not a magic fan but wtf happened to Wendell Carter? I thought he was gonna be nice
1
u/lickthetips Apr 20 '24
Who knows?! When we drafted Paolo he started shooting the 3 ball and playing the perimeter more. We need to create space for Franz and Paolo but I don't understand how the rest of his game completely fell off. When he first got here, he was great in the pick and roll, had good hands, was a great finisher, and could play some bully ball with a decent post game. All of that has disappeared.

I want Franz out of here asap. He showed he's not built for play-off competition.
2
u/Biscadosnove OnlyFranz Apr 20 '24
He was bad today but his world championship run last summer shows your take is not right.
-2
u/ElMaloso87 Apr 20 '24
He shrunk today, and it showed in his play. Hey, I want him to make me eat a fat slice of humble pie because I want the team to succeed.
He was charmin SOFT today.
1
u/MagicHoops3 Apr 20 '24
He was the best player today????
-2
u/ElMaloso87 Apr 20 '24
😆 how many drinks have you had already?
2
u/MagicHoops3 Apr 20 '24
Paolo had 8 turnovers and shot like garbage. Suggs was terrible. JI had nice defense. Everyone else was garbage. Franz was best by default. But everyone sucked.

I wish Gary Harris would get a terrible case of diarrhea for the entire season
4
u/sharpeshooter32 Apr 20 '24
Blazers fan here, can I interest any of you in anfernee Simons? Dude plays 0 defense but he'll hit threes and put up points
1
u/YodaDunk Apr 20 '24
What's a fair trade? I think top targets are Donavan Mitchell, Monk, maybe Murray from ATL.
8
u/dwninaho Apr 20 '24
Gary is such a fraud man. Him and Fultz better not be brought back. They don't help the offense at all and we cannot continue being this bad offensively if we actually want to improve.
There are guys out there who are not big names that can help this team move forward.
7
u/Virtual-Quantity7120 Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Think I would bench Fultz and Harris after this game and put in Black and Houstan
4
u/zackarykapowski Apr 20 '24
We lost this game and beat ourselves w horrific shooting all around. Unacceptable.

I will say, we've played terribly with long layoffs all year, I hope they get more in the swing of things for game 2, we can't have every single player have off shooting nights at the same time
-1
3
u/rustystatic Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
Refs cooked this game. we shoot better in the others and we do fine
1

Too much tween tween dumb shit for one of the tallest rosters in the league bro this shit is frustrating as fuck even Paolo
1
u/sharpeshooter32 Apr 20 '24
Franz was awesome last year I don't remember what happened. I'm a blazers fan and he torched us every game
1
u/Background_Ruin_5880 Apr 20 '24
He's arguably improved in every facet of his game outside three point shooting. It's his three-ball that's been heavily off this year.

u/Programmer-Gullible Apr 20 '24
Lmfao of all things you’re blaming Franz? Sure he’s only got 18-5-3 but he’s still shorting 50% when we’re 34% as a team. He’s also got 0 turnovers unlike Paolo’s 9. This is a team loss but Franz is far from the reason.
2
u/Yung_Hibachi Apr 20 '24
Well we’ve shot horribly from 3 but at least our… no, FT shooting is also shit

It's so nice the team is paying homage to past Magic greats, like Shaq and Howard, by missing every FT they can.

Paolo and suggs are only true untouchables. Franz will make a nice trade piece for Trae or Murray.

Suggs and Isaac are part of the core too. Also untouchable IMO.

Cavs had an 0-17 from 3 run and were still up 15.
This series is cooked.

u/mightymouthcrv Paolo Banchero Apr 20 '24
This game went as about I expected. This is how we looked before that last win at home. Our weaknesses have been exposed. I’m curious to see if we make adjustments for game 2. Our guards and our bench have got to be better.
1
u/M4C4K4NJ4 Stuff The Magic Dragon Apr 20 '24
You must not have watched a game all year. Mose doesn’t make adjustments and never has a game plan.

Dude Cleveland sucks we should have easily won! They only scored 88?
1

We were rolling with Goga beginning of season. 12 straight wins. Why did we go away from that.
2
3
u/Biscadosnove OnlyFranz Apr 20 '24
This bullshit of "not conclusive enough"... Then allow the team to retain the timeout and another challenge.
1
u/dlbags Wendell Carter Jr. Apr 20 '24
It’s now or never. Magic need to go on a run or put the kids in and regroup for Monday.
2

Shocker a challenge benefits Cleveland. That was clearly off Mitchell

Honest question, where’s the rest of our guys? Goga, AB. This rotation has been strange

u/Nystral Franz Wagner Apr 20 '24
Playoffs means that the bench is shorter and the teams generally go with their starters longer. Jingles playing would be unusual on most teams.

This team better go practice free throws after the damn game. I can't believe they missed all those free throws consecutively.
