Unanswered What's the deal with "yearning" trend?
Been seeing lots of posts about it recently. Seems to start with this genderbent Draco fanart thingy:

But I've seen it used a lot in other things as well as if the internet has just discovered a new fancy word (which...I know what that means since I was at middle school 20 years ago and English isn't even my first language so shouldn't be something phenomenal, no?)
Something like here:

Or this:

I just don't get how genderbent Draco translates to yearning at all. Even the other examples above that I mentioned are far better cases imo.

With demure, I'm pretty sure the "very demute, very mindful" meme was the reason a lot of people started using it more.

Answer:
In an interview a developer for the new Wolverine game said Sabertooth yearned for Wolverine which is a really strange word choice and lead a lot of people to think they were trying to force some kind of homosexual overtones into the Sabertooth / Wolverine relationship and lore.
This pissed a lot of people off and was memed the hell out of on gaming subreddits

Answer: With respect to the genderswap Draco Malfoy, her design and artwork seem to be triggering strong feelings in people who are self-interpreting these feelings as romantic desire. The fact that Malfoy is a school-aged character from a story set in a school has offered fan artwork a different path than the usual hypersexualized path that fanart often takes (see: Bowsette), one of slice of life and romance. (Though, don't get me wrong, there's tons of hypersexualized art of her, too.) While these themes are not new to fanfiction and fanwork as a whole, they are new to these online circles, and are thus taking over these circles by storm as a new trend.

answer: yearning is often used in slang nowadays to mean they're desiring someone, in a romantic context
basically it means there is hot girl and people want hot girl
