Ranty Rant - Advice Okay Tired of suffering every month

Hey all, every month during luteal is terrible. I went on birth control (Seasonique or Seasonal..one of those) to stop my periods entirely to try to help things. It didn't help, my body never really adjusted so I came off so back to regular cycles and I am just miserable.

Please, if anyone has actually gotten real and proper help from a doctor, did you seek out a specific type of doctor? I don't want to waste money on someone who is going to tell me that this is normal and to try to exercise or something.

I'm in Toronto by the way, if anyone knows anyone good to see in this area.

I am on zoloft, but as a daily anxiety med, not a PMDD-only med. Does anyone take zoloft everyday but then increase dose during luteal and does it make a significant difference?

Thanks in advance. Tired of crying for no reason. 🤪

I'm in Ottawa and my gynecologist (who was recommended to me by a fellow PMDD sufferer) has been an absolute godsend. On the off chance you'd be willing to come this far and can get a referral, let me know lol.

My daughter (16) is on Zoloft 150 mg for GAD from the psychiatrist. But she agreed it was PMDD. So we were to a gyno at Sickkids. They gave her Synd bc she can't handle estrogen due to it causing migraines. However she is not doing well on Slynd right now.. Sigh.

I’m so sorry the Slynd isn’t going well. I know how frustrating it is trying a BC & having it fail you. Wishing your daughter luck 🤞🏽

My daughter has PMDD and takes daily Zoloft, but her doctor just gave us the go ahead to increase it by 30% the week leading up to her period.

We've wanted to try this before, but her periods were super irregular until she started Slynd bc.

I am journaling my symptoms and such monthly for a while now hopefully to get diagnosis soon. I was on zoloft for 2 years as a daily medication for anxiety. Tbh ended up not working as hormones changed (pregnancy and postpartum) they put me up to 200mg a day. I had the worst fatigue and brain fog of my life, and had alot of mood swings and SI during luteral. I am also in Ontario. I had to go to er because I was in a massive dissociation episode and they took me off zoloft had to taper and now I am on a low dosage of another ssri. Told me to go on a hormonal bc ( I have copper Iud atm). I am debating on going on seasonale again I was on it before baby 2 and 3 with pretty stable moods besides luteral panic/ doom. Tbh once I was off the zoloft things got alot better.

Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible.
I’m glad things got better for you once you stopped Zoloft.
How do even get diagnosed with PMDD in Ontario, do you have to specifically see a gyno?

As far as I know yes. My np told me to journal and keep notes of my symptoms so I can show an gyn. When I went to the er the psychiatrist did think it was pmdd thus the hormonal bc recommendation.

Im an hour away from Toronto and went to a gyno through a family doctor! They diagnosed me and was part of a study about PMDD.
Unfortunately they did put me on birth control and I …couldn’t handle BC but at least it’s diagnosed so it could help you more?

😭 sorry the BC wasn’t great for you either.
What else did they suggest after that?

I haven’t gotten back to them, but i think it was then antidepressants! I also went to a naturopath and they can provide supplements if you wanna go in that path too! I’m sorry I don’t have a lot else to say about medication! I just wanted to reply to just tell you that you’re not alone! I think your answer might be a gyno!
