My phat CECHH died last month. I got around to trying heat gun reflow on RSX after Syscon showed likely BGA failure. Shocker: it didn't work. Not even long enough to boot to XMB to recover the EID_Root_Key.

All that glorious data is lost :( . So, I pull the drive to stick it into the slim 2101 I just cfw'ed with evilnat 4.92.2.

Thats when I saw it. A 1TB WD Blue SA510 i bought a few years ago when I jailbroke the CECHH!! F-ing A theyre selling for $280 now! Lol.

At least thats a win.

Long live PS3 hacking!

I recently saw that they made a crash team racing port for pc and psvita and I was shocked, it's one of my favourite games of all time, I really wish it was somehow ported onto the PS3! That would be awesome. Should we expect anything?

My super slim used to boot pretty quick and wouldn’t require me to intervene at all, I could turn it on with the controller and I would hear it beep a few times occasionally but most of the time it just started like normal

I swapped hdd and had to reinstall and update to the latest and it takes a while to boot and will often fail and just have the front panel light turn off where I have to press the button again. It will boot eventually bit its very annoying

I recently bought this PS3 Slim (CECH-20xx) and ran a thermal test for around 5-6 minutes. Do these temperatures look normal, or should I be concerned about the console’s condition?

Just went over YouTube and saw this and was shocked to see what is possible in Black Ops 2…. It is almost like Plutonium on PC. I am really hyped to see where it is going. What are your thoughts about it ?

I have a PS3 Fat, model CECHG01, that has been sitting unused for several months.

When I plug it into a power outlet, the red standby light never turns on. There is absolutely no light at all until I press the power button.

When I press the power button, the green light turns on for a few seconds, then the console shuts off completely. The fan also starts and stops at exactly the same time as the green light, although I can't see the fan itself, I can only feel it running briefly.

After the console shuts off, there is no red standby light or yellow light. I can repeat the same behavior by pressing the power button again without unplugging the console. It turns green for a few seconds and then shuts off again.

What could be causing this? Could it be a faulty power supply (PSU), or is it more likely to be a motherboard issue? Has anyone experienced the same symptoms with a CECHG01?

Hi all, I have a backwards compatible model PS3. I’ve used a PS5 controller in the past for PS3 games as my aging ps3 controllers keep wearing out. I have Bluetooth PS2 controllers that keep losing connectivity as well. Is there a work around to get the later controller to bypass the DualShock 2 requirement for PS2 games? I’ve seen modding videos of guys being able use the latest controllers, is there a dongle or anything I can use on the PS3? Trying not to buy another refurbished DualShock 2 controller that’ll die in a year or two.

Is there a cross platform third party charger that I can use across multiple consoles or even Xbox?

Browsing psx place and came across this.

Hope to see it implemented in the next Evilnat release! Also wondering if it increases the external limit from 2tb too? Presume not as it's gpt above 2tb.

Only question I have, most hdd's I've seen that are 2tb or more are 12.5mm or 15mm so won't fit in the hdd caddy (unless you go ssd, but given the price of them currently)

Is there a trick/mod to make larger drives fit?

Please note, if you try this it obviously involves flashing your nand/nor so I am not responsible if your console bursts into flames, or bricks!

Is there a place for placing bounties in the PS3 hack scene?

I noticed the BF1943 dlc mod, and I know a little about mod menus. However, I would like to see Terminator Salvation get a PS Move dlc mod for the Sharpshooter.

Hi, I have an old version of cfw installed, been out of the scene for at least 10 years. Can someone point me in the right direction of a guide on how to modernize?

I believe I have rebug with cobra installed right now, uses webman

Not sure how much has changed, but ps1 and ps2 games aren't working so I think a fresh install might help, then go from there.

Hi all!! I just thrifted a PS3 and I'm trying to mod it, I currently have firmware 4.76, and I'm trying to keep it at 4.91 or lower as this is easiest to mod (from what I can tell), but my PS3 won't let me use the internet without updating the system. Anyone have any idea on fixes for how I can get around this and be able to use the internet without updating, or, how to install a lower system update that 4.93. I'm pretty new to this all so any help is appreciated :) I've been following MrMario2011 tut
