Sport Fishing

I’m visiting Paderborn soon for 10 days, already have a licence to fish in Paderborn but need some advice with locations? All the lakes seem so vast! I have experience carp fishing and also predator fishing but I won’t have much time on the bank. Are there any spots that are good for a quick bite? Any type of fish really I would just like to catch 😅 PM if you would like to keep it private, thanks!!

What do you mean with a license to fish in Paderborn? There is the general fishing license, which is required for fishing in Germany. Then you need to be allowed to fish at the lakes. I am not aware of any which you can just go to. Most belong to some fishing clubs and are for members only. For some there are licenses with which you can fish there for a limited time

What I mean is I have a general licence to fish in Germany, I’m aware of a few lakes that you buy day tickets for, I’m just looking for any spots or day ticket lakes where I’m more likely to catch, I’ve fished for carp on habichtsee a while ago and although I did catch it was hard work 😅

Do you know if Padersee is one you can fish on a day ticket? I’ve seen a lot of fish there

I am quite sure Padersee doesn't have day tickets. Last I knew it was even limited to a couple days a year for members of the fishing club.

Lippesee was quite popular a few years back, I don't know how good the spot is currently. There are day tickets for it

Maybe try to reach out to some of the local fishing clubs and ask them for ideas and input.

They can probably tell you some about the lakes that have and how well they are populated at the moment.

That’s a good idea, thanks

For most lakes or rivers like the Pader, Lippe or Alme you are not allowed to fish as a visitor!

You maybe have a "Fischereischein aka Angelschein" (a general permission to fish in Germany) but you also need a "Fischereiberechtigungsschein aka Angelkarte" (a fishing permit for a specific spot).

To get a fishing permit for many lakes or rivers, you typically need to join a Angelverein (local fishing club) first.

The only options for guests to buy a day ticket are to my knowledge these three:

  • Lippesee
  • Nesthauser See
  • Habichtsee

So your options as a visitor are limited in Paderborn.

What I mean is PM spots if people don’t want them made public
