Talk / Discussion New shorts bonus program
So all over twitter right now is the new news of youtube rolling out a shorts bonus program that offers youtube partners extra money for posting a certain amount of shorts each month. It’s only invite only & in select countries. I was just wondering if this is only for youtube partners who already post shorts or can long form creators who don’t post shorts also be invited? I’m a long form creator and don’t post shorts but I feel like it’d be kinda unfair for this to be only for creators who post shorts. What do you guys think?

See the official info from YouTube: https://youtube.com/shorts/PX2YgUuXK4Q You have to be in the YouTube Partner Program in the US, UK, Germany, Brazil, Japan or South Korea.

Just add Mexico and France and that would be Tiktok's 1 Monetisation, Tiktok also has this bonus stuff, I don't know when they got it buu I've seen post where there videos only got 50 dollar but the bonus is like over 300 to 500 dollars

Does changing country of residence on the settings make a difference? lol

I got an invite and I suspect this is intended to ease some creators into the February monetisation changes - where you need to get 10 million views in 90 days to stay monetized
By encouraging people to have a bigger backlog of content, you're more likely to hit the first few targets
It feels like they know the monetisation changes are gonna cull a lot of legit shorts makers and this is trying to offset that

So question, does this replace the old shorts fund?
Because I've seen a massive drop off on revenue this month and I can't tell if it's me or YouTube.

I just posted about this. My video had 371k in one month. It was 1/10 and the best views video ever in a 30 day period. The next month it dropped to 19k. There is nothing organic or gradual about that massive decline. None of my videos, which average around 100k ever had such a fall off. Something def has happened and it impacts revenue.

My RPM went up a whole dollar in the past month but I’m seeing a lot of people saying their revenue is dipping. But I got invited to this bonus program and it says it ends in January, then YouTube has that new shorts policy crap in February

All the wording in the terms and service say it’s a bonus not a replacement. I personally haven’t seen anything to imply the shorts revenue pool is going away.

I got this exact bonus and I only make shorts (US)

Ok so I’m assuming it’s only for creators who already post shorts to their channel

It doesn’t matter if you think it’s unfair or not, it’s about what YouTube says it is

I recently got this as well, and I had just given up on shorts. Guess I'm going to try again!

I got invited to this, I do all long short and live but mainly shorts daily so I’m excited about this since I was just doing it for the fun of it so it feels like an incentive to push a bit harder on my editing skills
