Purchasing Advice - PCPartPicker list feedback 2400$ build

Post image

Currently trying to make a pc build to buy within the next year. The only problem i have rn is fitting under the 2400 budget that i have set for myself without sacrificing too much of the aesthetic side of the build. I’m planning to play fps games like OW2 and valorant at 300fps. Any advice or ideas?

You could get a 9070xt if you lower some of the premium stuff here, the expensive Lian Li fans and AIO specifically unless you personally want them and willing to spend the extra for aesthetics to sacrifice performance

This! Your aim is for performance, not looks.

thats true but im not sure if i even need the 9070 xt. how significant is the difference between the standard one and the xt?

u/Ass_Pancakes 3h ago

About 10-15% for 1440p in benchmarks. Though the 1% lows can be significantly better from what I read.

Depends on the price difference between the xt and non xt for you however usually you want to prioritise performance before looks since you get a pc to game 1st and look at second.

1

u/True-Bonus5922 3h ago

price difference is about 200€:(

2

u/godlyuniverse1 3h ago

What's that percentage wise, the XT is about 10 to 15% better than the non, so id pay about a 20 to 25% increase in price for it

so you need 9800x3d but not better gpu or more ram…

Go with 9070xt otherwise whats the point to spend this much money and dont get the good stuff of the proper build.

You can switch to 7800x3d and to 9070xt

No, he can change to cheaper cooling and still go with a 9800X3D & 9070 XT, and it will still come cheaper.

The 9070XT is just 100-140 euros more for a referrence variant. The Lian Li AIO & Fans alone are nearly 400 euros.

7800x3d i think is sweetspot 9800x3d could be overkill. And fans if you go too cheap you buy yourself fan noise.

u/Bluemischief123 3h ago

You're spending nearly 400 euro on two fan packs and an AIO, get rid of the extra fans and get a cheaper alternative RGB AIO and buy a different case that has ARGB fans already.

im thinking abt replacing the AIO but i rly like the design of the lian li ones specifically. do yk any alternatives?

The arctic freezer iii 360 has better performance (gamers nexus test), dies less and is one of the cheapest aios. Their fans are also good, and they have reverse fans if your case needs them. Save yourself €250 or get the 9070XT with the extra money

u/True-Bonus5922 2h ago

okay i’ll look in to that. thank u!

Absolute bonkers that ram is the second most expensive thing in that build. I would try and buy secondhand or something to knock at least 100 euro off the price.

Also PSA (Important!!!) you are buying crucial which is owned by Micron. They dont produce consumer ram anymore so they’re no longer offering replacements when RMA’ing. I would personally stay away.

Other than that build looks fine but you can definitely get a cheaper cpu if you’re playing above 1080p. You’re also paying extra for the Lian Li aesthetics but I get the appeal so I won’t judge.

1

u/True-Bonus5922 3h ago

yeah when i had started looking at buying a pc initially ram was like 200€ for the best ddr5 6000 kit but now its just ludicrous like that. dk whether to wait or just buy now anymore cause prices seem to just keep rising

u/True-Bonus5922 4h ago

I forgot to mention that i am buying everything in Europe, specifically Germany

Try to get saphire pulse or maybe xfx, instead. Gigabyte doesn't have the best reputation.

1

u/True-Bonus5922 3h ago

whats wrong with the Gigabyte gpu’s? cause i havent heard anything personally

2

u/NotZQ_CODM 2h ago

Not good reputation. Their RX 9070 XTs had hella problems (okay well it was basically one problem but it was very very very common)

1

u/mhautelv 1h ago

Known for issues. Very bad temps. Issues almost every Gen. Id avoid if able. Saying this as somebody who's got rtx 2060 gigabyte btw.

You’re spending way too much on the aio and fans imo. Also, the 750W and 850W versions of that PSU have a really bad fan. Its louder than average, and Ive seen multiple cases of the fan failing after just a few months. I'd get the lian li sx850p, nzxt c850 or corsair rm850x for like 15e more

1

u/True-Bonus5922 3h ago

yeah the part abt the cooling is true but i feel like there isnt anything on the market that suits my aesthetic preferences quite like those fans do. thanks for the comment on the psu i’ll go and change that rn

Pretty similar build here, only difference being I have a 9600X & 9070 XT and different cooling setup. Also a B850 board. The rest of the stuff are the same just different brands.

I'd suggest you go with a 9070 XT since everything else is pretty much of the highest end here (well, at least within this budget range). Could certainly go with cheaper cooler & fans for now.

GPU Prices will go up so snatch the best you can now. I doubt cooling will go up.

You can go with the Lian Li Dynamic Mini V2 case, comes with GPU support bracket, vertical GPU mount and many other QoL additions compared to the OG fishtank cases from Lian Li . It's the same price as your case. You could get knockoffs of these Lian Li fans if you really want them for 1/3 of the price or less and it's basically the same performance & quality, check AsiaHorse fans they're a pretty reliable and well known brand. You can get 3packs of 3 (which is the total amount of fans you need) for like 120euros in total.

Go with a 30$ air cooler for now (a dual tower can cool the 9800X3D easily), later on grab a fan-less Lian Li AIO for half the price (since that's what you're into), install the pre-existing fans on it and you're good to go and that's like 150-200euros cheaper already.
For reference, I'm running my 9600X with the 105w TDP on bios with a single tower Arctic Freezer 36, temps are peaking at 60-65c in gaming when the CPU power draw peaks at ~90w, maybe hit 75-80c during shader compilation. The 9800X3D max power draw is 120w but it will never draw that much during actual gaming, so expect the same results or slightly better if you're running a dual-tower air cooler.

Also check the Lian Li Edge Gold PSU (either 750 or 850w will suffice even with a 9070 XT, 850w is the safest option and leaves more room for upgradability, personally I went with a 750w cause the budget was really tight and I still have 250w to spare, even more if I undervolt the GPU). It comes with sleeved cables, it's built specifically for these fish-tank cases and also includes a Fan hub.

Small FYI: I have a Powercolor Reaper 9070XT (it's a reference tier variant). Haven't seen it going over 51celcius at 100% usage with the Performance profile. No coil whine but that's just lottery, noise levels are bearable, if you're playing with speakers or headphones you won't hear it. The silent profile is, well, silent.

Just mentioning that cause I've seen noise & thermals complaints about the Gigabyte variants for AMD GPUs. I was looking to buy a Gigabyte one as well and changed my mind last minute.

You can get more for your money - the Lian Li parts are too expensive for no benefit other than aesthetics, and there are much less expensive alternatives that look similar.

Suggestions below that now only provide better performance with a 9070 XT, but also cut over €100 from your list while keeping the same aesthetic, with an AIO that has a larger square LCD screen and fans that look almost the same as the Lian Li SL.

  • CPU Cooler: Switched to a the far less expensive Thermalright Peerless Vision 360 that has a larger 3.95" LCD screen (vs the Lian Li's 3.4").
    • One of the 3-pack of reverse flow fans is for the radiator, replacing the fans that come with the AIO so all fans in the case match. With the radiator mounted on the side, the fans will be intake but still show the nice side since they are reverse flow.
  • Video Card: Upgraded to a 9070 XT. Not sure where you were seeing the price difference mentioned in the other comment - this 9070 XT is only €90 more than the 9070 in your list.
  • Power Supply: Upgraded to a better quality Tier A 850w ATX 3.1 unit (the MSI A-GL units are Tier B).
  • Case Fans: The other 3-pack of reverse flow fans will be intake on the bottom of the case, while the two single pack standard flow fans will be exhaust at the rear.

Oof i made this mistake too. Bought the regular 9070 and only realized it wasn’t xt when it arrived, so i returned it and bought the correct one

1

u/tristam92 20m ago

drop lian li stuff, and you can improve gpu budget then
