New Flair: Iranian Voices ONLY (Please Read Before Posting)

July 2026 Edit

The moderation team has changed this to a mod-only flair. We will quickly apply the "Only Iranians May Comment" flair whenever it is clear that the OP is specifically looking to hear from Iranians on the subject.

We are testing this out to see how it goes. We will update this post if anything else changes regarding the flair.

Today we added a new post flair: Iranian Voices ONLY

These threads are meant to center on the perspectives of Iranians, especially during times like these where outside noise can overwhelm the conversation.

What this means

Only Iranians may comment in these threads and violations may result in a ban.

Why we're doing this

r/Persian has always been open to everyone, and that will not change. But in these times, it's important to create space for Iranians to speak directly without being drowned out by outside voices.

This flair allows that space to exist when the OP chooses it. Non-Iranians may also choose this flair to ask questions directly to the Iranian community.

Where this applies

This rule applies only to posts using the Iranian Voices ONLY flair. All other threads remain open to everyone under our usual rules.

Final note

If you are not Iranian, please respect the purpose of these threads. There are many other places in the subreddit to participate.

Arts & Culture Irania — Iranian Community App: Persian Businesses, Housing, Jobs & Events

Hi everyone! I hope it’s okay to share a small announcement here.

We’re a small team of Iranian developers, and we recently launched Irania for iOS and Android. It’s a bilingual Persian-English app for Iranians around the world, currently available in 57 cities across 26 countries. Some of the cities include Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Dubai, Berlin, Paris, Istanbul, Sydney, and Tbilisi.

With Irania, you can:

  • Ask questions, share experiences and recommendations, and reply to people in your city.
  • Find Persian-owned businesses and services, explore them on a map, read reviews, and save favourites.
  • Browse local events and gatherings, concerts, business deals, job opportunities, and housing listings, including rentals, roommates, and homes for sale.
  • Find free items offered by neighbours through the Wall of Kindness.
  • Check your city’s weather, dollar and other exchange rates, local and Iran-related news, and a daily Persian phrase.
  • Use the Persian calendar and date converter, with Iranian occasions and local holidays.
  • Read city-specific guides for settling in, covering topics such as housing, work, healthcare, and everyday life.

You can also submit listings and community posts for others to discover. Available content varies by city, and we’re continuing to build out the app.

We’d love for you to give Irania a try and share your honest feedback or ideas for what we should add next. Thanks for reading!

Discussion Why doesn’t the US arm the Iranian people & officially recognise Reza Pahlavi as the leader of this revolution in Iran? Arming a thousand of Iranian people costs way less than an interceptor missile & more damage to the regime, & recognising Pahlavi costs the US nothing. Why aren’t they doing it?

I honestly don't understand. Why the heck doesn’t the US do this? Armin Navabi is a huge supporter of Donald Trump & always praises him, even when many Republicans criticize Trump's policies he is there to defend Trump. But as you can see here, even he is becoming frustrated.

This doesn’t make any sense tbh. The US armed many rebels in the past and got the governments in those countries toppled, even if those governments weren’t that unpopular. The Islamic regime on the other hand is so hated especially after January that people will not pass on any chance to topple this regime. Why would the US not take advantage of such an opportunity by arming the Iranian people and officially recognizing Reza Pahlavi as the leader of this revolution?

Question What's your opinion on her? If you don't like Reza Pahlavi as a leader then would you accept her leadership after the regime falls?

Language & Literature Ossetian - Cousin language of Persian

Thumbnail

Ossetian, natively called Iron, sounds similar to Persian because they are both Iranic languages.

Ossetian is an Eastern Iranic language directly descended from the ancient Scythian tongue.

Persian is a Western Iranic language directly descended from Middle Persian in Greater Khorasan region.

Iranic languages separated from one another around 3,000 years ago. Regardless of the very lengthy separation from one another Ossetian and Persian still share many core Iranic similarities, namely similar verbs, body parts, colors, each elements, and number system.

Discussion Iran After Islam

Despite the Arab worshiping Islamic regime trying for the past 47 years to push Arab/Islamic cultural extremism upon the Iranian people and force Iranians to adopt Arabic names and cultural norms as if we are living under an Arab caliphate, the majority of Iranians today dislike Islam and have left the faith due to this barbaric regime.

Our official language is Persian, which is completely unrelated to Arabic and our country is called Iran meaning land of the Aryans and has been the name of our lands and people for over 3,000 years. We originated as an Iranic peoples from Western Central Asia and Arabs originated as a Semitic people from the Arabian peninsula.

When this genocidal dictatorship falls, Iran will return back to embracing its Iranic roots and promoting its own Persian traditions and names. Khodaro Sepas!

I‘m actually in shock writing this. This comment was in response to a comment left in a post about Iran executing a woman due to blasphemous social media posts. The person I was replying to left one of those “well the US is publicly executing someone“. Mind you I was not the only comment pushing back on this, but somehow stating I was an iranian woman warranted a permanent ban. When I responded to the ban notification asking what I did wrong and told them I really was an Iranian woman, they permanently muted me. I’m genuinely so disappointed because this seemed like a reasonable sub and I had no idea they would be so reactionary to silence Iranians.
