Sadness He was too young
We had two wonderful beagles, they were best friends. Link was always a bit of a dumpster fire, allergies, seizure disorder, frequent bouts of pneumonia. We had it all under control, then his lymph nodes swelled up. We got the worst news, it was lymphoma. There is no cure in dogs, best we could hope for was remission.
We decided to put him on the chemotherapy. His first two treatments went well, he was reacting positively.
Then came this week. He went in for his third treatment, and was a little down in the dumps the next day and had some vomiting. It wasn't unexpected, he did with his first dose of this drug as well. The next day he was drinking, holding the water down. If he didn't eat the next day he was going to be admitted. Next day his breathing was rough. We brought him in and he had a bad case of pneumonia. When they administered the IV antibiotics, he crashed.
He was supposed to go into remission and have more time. He was the healthiest I have seen him in a long time on Monday, and now he's gone.

My heart goes out to you. We have the same story. My boy was only 4 when he got his lymphoma diagnosis. He passed 2 weeks ago today and I wish I could say it gets better. Because right now it only seems to get worse as I got the call he’s ready to be picked up. It’s such a cruel disease and it’s gut wrenching. Please know he’s up there with my boy now. Hugs to you😔 know you are not alone.

You are not alone, my baby Pepper was never diagnosed but suspected lymphoma. He passed away almost a week ago. He also had a lot of complications besides suspected lymphoma, GI bleeding and anemia.

This is a community of support for Pet owners whose Pets have passed away. It is actively moderated.
Pet owners, as loving, caring people, often have strong opinions on pet care practices. Some of these are controversial. This is not a forum for debate on such issues, nor is it a place to scold a contributor for a perceived mistake in managing their pet. We intend to provide a safe haven of understanding and support. Strident, mean-spirited posts or comments will be deleted. Those who persist in preaching versus caring may be warned and then banned or may be banned permanently based on nature of the topic. If a conversational thread meanders into a discussion unrelated to pet loss support, it will be truncated.
Those who post here are vulnerable and hurting. Even a minor slap has a hard sting. Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to turn away from our computers or put down our phones and hug a healthy, happy pet are truly blessed. Threads must remain supportive and caring, even if one disagrees with something that has been said.
