ShowbizPH Mon Confiado’s dedication to method acting is insane. He spent a month living with actual fishermen for his film 'The Fisher'.

That's pretty cool. One of the weird things I found with local tv dramas were people in roles of farmer but they looked more like they were farmers in the sense that they owned the hacienda with their amazing complexions.

u/goyeetit 12h ago

For real! I remember watching a drama a decade lr so ago.

Trueee. Like what is even the point of having makeup artist on site, kung yung mga artista gusto maganda sila lageh sa camera. It's doing deservice to the craft pati sa story na pinoportray nila.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MON CONFIADO?

Mon Confiado could have put on a faded shirt, smeared dirt on his face and called himself a fisherman.

Instead, he went north and spent a month living among actual fishermen. Lost weight. Darkened his skin. Learned what the sea does to a man who depends on it for food and got acquainted with a life that doesn't give a damn about movie stars.

His character is Pedro. The film is The Fisher, directed by Paul Soriano.

21 October. In cinemas.

I wonder what kind of story paul soriano have for the masses, diba BBM supporter asawa niya? Or is this a different paul

•

u/superkawhi12 13h ago

He is actually the reason why Toni campaigned for for BBM.

•

u/CosmicHalimaw 14h ago

Its the same dude. BBM sila kasi kamag-anak niya si LAM

•

u/Most-Scallion-6580 13h ago

Nephew in law in Liza Marcos si Paul Soriano tapos Ninong ni Paul at Toni sa kasal si BBM.

•

u/Anythingtwods 13h ago

Isn't his side that's a bbm supporter or something? I'm not sure tho

•

u/RustyViolining_33 13h ago

Kala ko guni guni ko lang na pumayat siya because he looked different when I saw him a few months ago. Props to him👏

u/hachoux 14h ago

GANITO! This is how serious actors prepare for a role. It doesn’t have to be method but deep research sana.

•

u/DitoDoonAtKungSaan 14h ago

Da who ung nagbasa lang ng libro?

•

u/More-Tackle2016 14h ago

Madami. Lalo na yung new generation.

•

u/Anaguli417 13h ago

"Tinurukan sa leeg"

Uh what? Context? Wala akong TikTok.

•

u/More-Tackle2016 13h ago

Yung scene is tinurukan sila para mawalan ng malay. Then the way they acted (pati si enrique rin) the 'nawalan ng malay' moment was the worst acting ive ever seen in my life.

•

u/hachoux 3h ago

Can’t remember who exactly, but a GMA7 actress featured on 24 Oras. And yep, most new gen actors, as the comment below said. Considered good take na ata kapag di nabulol or nalimutan yung lines

•

u/SwimmingAd4160 9h ago

Love it when method acting is actually method acting and not just being an asshole to your coworkers

•

u/Negative-Heat-9948 8h ago

Was about to say the same sentiment.

•

u/lpernites2 14h ago

This is why he is one of the best actors here in the PH

•

Grabe preparation.

•

•

u/Key_Sea_7625 50m ago

Dati kasi uso pa ang real auditions and scouting. Ngayon, backer backer nalang.

•

u/Relative-Look-6432 14h ago

Mon Confiado is one of the few Filipino finest actors. He can portray any roles and characters tapos kaya na ma-immerse.

•

u/solar_is9 14h ago

Watching F1 HAHAHA

•

u/ChampaMom 14h ago

Now that’s a good question

•

u/ariamkun 13h ago

He starred as Ferdinand Marcos before?

•

u/mydogsnameispenny0 13h ago

Ganyan yung method acting. Di naman need ng cheatling lols

•

u/eljawn 9h ago

Grabe bilib ko kay Sir Mon, tunay na “last of a dying breed.” Hope he inspires new Filipino actors pagdating sa ganitong dedikasyon at passion sa sining.

•

u/calmeststorm100_ 14h ago

Anong sinabi nung method acting ni Maris Racal & Anthony Jennings?

•

u/kayescl0sed 2h ago

HAHAHAHAHAHA

•

u/ThePeople10 12h ago

There are actors that cant simply act as the character they are playing, but there are actors that actually live the role that they were given. Mon is the latter. I very much wanna see how this goes on the 21st! Great stuff

•

u/pastel-pink08 14h ago

Ang galing talaga ni Mon Confiado! Heneral Luna palang fav ko na sya

•

u/kayescl0sed 2h ago

“Si Luna ang pinakamahusay kong Heneral.. bakit ko siya ipapapatay?”

SENT CHILLS TO MY SPINE FR

•

u/Russ_Rojas13 14h ago

One of the actors who deserve more flowers

•

u/TheServant18 14h ago

Nung mapamood ko to sa El Fili Stage Play sa UPD, humanga ako sa kanya, ang galing niya as Simon Ibarra

•

u/Glittering-Passion34 5h ago

He is like one of the best actors talaga. Di papogi, he showcases his skills.

•

u/atemoyaatis 14h ago

•

u/givesyouhead1 14h ago

My favorite actor. 🥰

•

u/badbadtz-maru 11h ago

Me too!! Nasabi ko na to sa ibang thread pero he was such a dzaddy when I saw him sa Eastwood a few years back. Nahiya lang ako magpapic hahaha

•

u/salty_microwave 9h ago

HWHAHAHA I GET YOU

•

u/kuntiloxox 5h ago

•

u/SageOfSixCabbages 13h ago

Medyo pedantic pero this is immersion or role research, which is completely different from method acting.

Hats off to Mon for doing this kind of prep work for a role.

•

u/Confident_Stand_5628 14h ago

Since mahilig mga direktor dito sa PH ng kabit roles, dapat magspend din mga actor/actress ng 1 month as kabit

•

u/Sweettooth_Banana 14h ago

Still on my bucketlist, to go fishing with a pinoy fisherman.

•

u/kthine 11h ago

even before dedicated na sya, what a great actor indeed

•

u/anonchilde 13h ago

Dying breed of actors

•

u/hey_justmechillin 14h ago

Hahaha. Kidding aside, galing nya talaga.

•

u/Accomplished-Exit-58 13h ago

•

u/slyslysly96 12h ago

Made me think about that one kristen stewart interview about men and their…method acting.

•

u/ulo99 11h ago

One of the best actors in Philippines for sure.

•

u/PercentageRoutine310 10h ago

Sucked the boobs of Mara Lopez in Palitan (2012). That’s dedication.

•

u/nohesi8158 10h ago edited 9h ago

Him, John arcilla and Joel torre are just a masters of their crafts fr

•

u/matchatwix 11h ago

That's why he and Romnick Sarmenta are both my goat and my zaddies....

•

u/Designer-Summer-1495 21m ago

This is how it should be. Parang sa SK, for example si Shin Hye Sun yung role niya sa Angel’s Last Mission Love is ballerina.  She enrolled in private ballet lessons immediately nung na-cast and underwent 6 months  of intense training.

•

u/ZerpMeizter 15h ago

Isang saludo sa 'yo, Heneral! 🫡

•

u/Foreign-Injury-6412 14h ago

One of the OG’s

•

u/One_Radish3902 14h ago

ganito naman talaga dapat eh. kaya naamaze ako sa korea eh. in a sense na pagdating sa acting inaaral talaga nila yung mga dapat gawin. kung may specific role na need gawin inaaral talaga nila kung paano.

•

u/EldenBoredAF 12h ago

Of all the countries you could have named, Korea pa talaga. All they do is gain and lose weight or gain and lose muscle, depending on the role, which is easy to do if you're an actor.

•

u/FrostyForestFungi 7h ago

Real. FL is introduced as poor, bread winner, and shi but wears expensive outfits, owns the latest whatever phone, and lives in a fancy ass apartment in SEOUL.

•

u/LucySuccubus 4h ago

Method acting is not the end-all-be-all method for acting. There's different methods that work for different actors, but "the method" is not for everyone. Some tap into the emotional memories of their past, some can work on the emotional catharsis of an imagined situation, and some can emulate a collage of observations. The importance of an actor is to be the vessel of the text (script), and whichever ways they can embody the truth of the character is enough.

•

u/leivanz 12h ago

No. Method acting is a style/technique pero some actors don't do that to be on the character's shoe. Kaya nga method, hindi they should or we should.

•

u/n3Ver9h0st 14h ago

Insane! One of the GOAT

u/OpportunityJolly182 14h ago

Grabe ang love and passion nya sa craft nya!!! Amazing

•

u/Sea-Wrangler2764 12h ago

Truly a gem in the industry.

•

u/Illuminastrid 11h ago

Mon will give it all, he doesn't even half ass his performance even on his VMX films. He just knows ball.

•

u/squammyboi 11h ago

One of the few actors I admire the most!

•

u/mamaaaay 10h ago

I will watch the movie dahil kay Mon Confiado’s post. Di na kinailangan ng ads eh hahaha

•

u/chidy_saintclair 8h ago

The goat actor for me

•

u/cyst2exist 7h ago

Huge respect to this dedicated actor

He deserves an award for this

•

u/Ghostr0ck 3h ago

•

u/Prudent_Director_482 3h ago

hahaha tanduay for the win

•

u/cerinza 3h ago

Aint he the actor who got sick real bad too for eating dirt as part of method acting, or I am thinking of a different one?

•

u/Admirable-Metal952 2h ago

Star Cinema: “Anong method acting??? Eto wig suotin mo!”

•

u/trem0re09 2h ago

Pano ba yan? Like may contact na ung agency nya san sya makikitira? Tapos babayaran ung tumuro?

•

u/mytabbycat 1h ago

Diba ganito din si Christian Bale. Grabe sobrang dedicated din non pag may role.

•

u/Key_Sea_7625 56m ago

Kidding aside the true understanding talaga lies sa pagiging part/direct involvement. Hindi sa pagaaral lang and pagoobserve from afar.

•

u/victimfulcrimes 32m ago

Just a month?

•

u/SleepIsCrucial 13h ago

Ok sana kaso si Paul Soriano yung nag direct. Ewwww.

•

u/Minsan 14h ago

Method acting

•

u/averagePizzaAoS 15h ago

I too am excited to watch Paul Soriano's The Fisher™️ at the nearest SM Cinemas©️ while drinking Coca Cola®️!

•

u/King_Paymon 12h ago

I can't look at him the same way again after he tried to steal those Milky Way bars.

•

u/vhicay 11h ago

Pero same same pa din naman anh acting nya

•

u/Venatrix_ 14h ago

That’s such a professional move. He probably did that too para maging effortless and magmukha talaga siyang farmer. Nothing gives me the ick more than having light actors/actresses play roles of impoverished people tapos bibigyan sila ng fake tan at ng make up na mga 5 shades darker.

•

u/DotKey9513 14h ago

Yeah, one of the best.

•

u/pclamer 12h ago

Wow. Living a life of a fisherman. So brave.

•

u/ziangsecurity 11h ago

there is nothing insane about this one. There are some actors doing something like this
