Need Advice Trouble with eggs; any possible recipes I won't hate?

I usually hate eggs but will occasionally crave them (probably need a certain vitamin or something), and I need to increase my protein intake. When I make them I can usually just eat a couple bites until I gag, then the rest of it goes to my dogs. The only type I kinda enjoy is devilled eggs. I've tried them fried, scrambled, omelettes, frittatas, in fried rice but I don't like them at all. I've even stopped eating vanilla ice cream because I can taste the yolk in there, and also find eggnog disgusting.

It sucks because I'm really picky with meat, and burned out on Greek yogurt when I was heavily into fitness. I'm getting sick of beans and lentils.

Am I a lost cause?

devilled eggs is already a win, try adding some smoked paprika and a little pickle juice to the filling, it changes the whole taste

I love pickles, I'll have to try that!

Why not try pickled eggs?

Just plop some boiled eggs in an old jar of pickle juice wait 2 days and youre good to go.

Good idea, if I don't like them I know someone who would appreciate them. I have a bunch of eggs I need to use up soon.

If you end up liking them, make yourself some ramen eggs next. Same process, different liquid. Then you just cut them in half and add them to ramen. It's also a great way to enhance cheap packets, just add some veggies that you like along with and enjoy.

Since you like deviled, what about egg salad- hard boiled eggs, Mayo and dill is all I use.

Are you sure you aren't mildly allergic? Anyways, as someone that is highly allergic, there are ice cream brands that don't use eggs (Blue Bell being the first that comes to mind) or you can go for gelato (Talenti doesn't use eggs for the cream base).

Pickled eggs are an option, but I've seen people willing to murder over a good deviled egg recipe so I don't see the problem with making a big batch there. Just get one of those deviled egg plates that has a cover for the top as well.

I usually use Greek yogurt as a substitute for mayonnaise when cooking, and add things like hummus into my diet to get those proteins I miss out on due to needing to avoid eggs to an extreme degree.

Would also like to suggest chickpea flour. Bob’s Red Mill has some. I use it to egg-free omelettes. Just add in your favorite veggies, salt and pepper to taste. Even some other seasonings if you prefer.

How about egg salad sandwiches. They have all the ingredients of deviled eggs plus bread 🍞 😋

If you like bananas, you can mash some bananas up and mix them with one egg per whole banana. Then add a bit of vanilla extract and any other seasonings/mix-ins you want and cook on a pan or griddle like pancakes. I like mixing in cinnamon, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips (not all at the same time! :D), but there are so many things that would be yummy. You can add a bit of flour if you want, but these pancakes are delicious without! Banana is such a strong flavor that I usually never taste egg when I make these. This is one of my favorite breakfasts!

Why not just have hard boiled eggs, since thats what Deviled eggs are made from? Also, have you tried just egg whites? If you get egg whites in a carton, you can put them in smoothies (they were already heat treated, so they can go in the smoothie in liquid form without hurting you). Also, I love eggs with cheese. If you put cottage cheese in them that will up your protein intake too. Cottage cheese can also go in smoothies. Have you found a protein powder that you like? Add that to your smoothies.

poached egg on toast!!! you can cook it till the yolk is harder (or fuck it you could even scoop that yolk right outta there once you crack it into the water w a spoon) and then butter on toast or bagel or english muffin or even waffle! and salt and pepper on top! if you like spice i also put crushed red pepper on mine:))) (and cut up the egg!)

If it's specifically the yolks in the ice cream maybe try the egg whites to make some scrambled eggs to see if it's that flavor in particular?

Maybe adding some sautéed vegetables to a scramble would cut the eggy taste. Chopped bell peppers, onions/scallions, mushrooms, spinach, herbs like basil or parsley … many good options. Can just pour scrambled eggs over already sautéing veggies when they get to the state you like them.

Maybe have hard-boiled eggs? They're similar to deviled eggs.

Also egg salad - it's the same as deviled eggs but chopped up

How about egg salad. Hard boiled eggs, chopped up add mayo or mayo/yogurt mix, mustard, dill pickles chopped, salt, pepper

Are you interested in trying other proteins if eggs turn you off?

Chickpea flour can be used to make egg-free omelettes. Quinoa is a grain that is high in protein and is a complete protein. Beans and lentils also work.

What kind of food do you enjoy/are safe foods for you?

If you like deviled eggs, would you maybe like egg salad?

Everyone has some great tips. I also had the same aversion but I realized I just like my eggs over cooked and heavily seasoned. Most people leave some egg still runny or wet, i hate that. I also agg salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and crushed red pepper.

So eat them deviled. You could try egg salad or potato salad. I dont really like scrambled eggs either. So what if you have a few bites and the dogs get the rest. Its good for the dogs too.

Make egg salad using the same spices you use for deviled eggs.

If you're after protein, and the thing you dislike about eggs is the yolks, you're in luck - the whites are where the bulk of the protein is, and you can buy pasteurized egg whites in a carton and add them to smoothies to up the protein content.

I used to give my dog eggs but I think he's allergic.  Have you done an allergy test?

Maybe try a Dutch Baby if you’re fine with a sweet, typically breakfast food? They’re blended and baked, and topped with powdered sugar.

I love deviled eggs so I feel like egg salad should be an obvious choice for you. I’ve only ever had deviled eggs with generous amounts of paprika and chopped pickles inside so just do the same thing for egg salad. There’s also the difference in mayo that you use as well, regular mayo doesn’t have too strong of a flavor but Kewpie or Dukes Mayo have a distinct flavor that may help you not focus on the egg yolk taste as much. Eat it in a sandwich or by itself, or even as a dip and there you go.

Like everyone else suggested, egg salad. Also, it sounds like all the eggs you don't like are yolk-y and the fact that you like deviled eggs (where the yolk is what's mainly changed) makes it sound like the yolk is the main issue? You can try most of these things with just egg whites and see if that's more tolerable for you

Vanilla ice cream doesn’t necessarily contain eggs. Frozen custard, yes, but not necessarily ice cream.
