Savory finger foods

I have a couple of upcoming events that will require bringing finger foods. I'm looking for another option than a sweet treat (plenty of those recipes out there!) or fruit. I will often do fruit on a skewer with is really visually appealing and goes over well. Just looking for some savory options. I had thought of stuffed mushrooms. Any ideas? Suggestions for stuffed mushroom recipes?

The site “Eat Figs Not Pigs” has many savory finger foods under the category of “game day foods” that may fit the bill!

I haven't looked at that site in a while, thanks for the suggestion!

Ooh, spinach balls. I used to make those when I was a vegetarian, hadn't thought of a vegan version. My kids hated them, but I loved them.

Tofu and veggie skewers are a really good idea.

Please no hummus that’s all anyone ever has as the vegan option everywhere

Bar Tartine mushrooms are incredible, even better prepped ahead, can serve them on a little pick with a chunky crouton

These dipped radishes, omit the butter use all tahini and a few drops toasted sesame oil in the tahini

Endive leaf “scoops” with a chickpea salad and tiny bit of fresh dill for garnish

This is a group of plant based eaters so there will likely already be some hummus there.

Hummus is everywhere for a good reason!

Look i’ve been veg for 30+ years so maybe i’m jaded but literally the only option for… decades, at parties and restaurants and such has been some variation of hummus and crudite or hummus and greasy veggies wrap

There’s just too many delicious easy better options

Will the stuffed mushrooms be able to be served warm? Stuffing needs to stay warm imo. Marinated mushrooms are easy and can be made ahead of time. Same with marinated carrots. Olive tray with roasted red peppers. I do skewers with marinated artichoke hearts, cherry tomato, can do mozzarella ball if everyone is not plant based or replace with black pitted or green stuffed olive. I recently made "sun dried" tomatoes in my air fryer which were incredible but I ate them all right away lol.

Sorry....finger foods. Ignore my suggestions avoid marinated mushrooms or carrots...however you CAN add the marinated mushrooms to a skewer. I made chick pea salad mini roll ups (sliced tortillas), each one with a toothpick, for a wine tasting event. Even my non-PB friends loved them.

It's pretty close by so the stuffed mushrooms can be warm. I agree cold stuff mushrooms aren't very appealing. Marinated mushrooms on a toothpick, or 2 on a skewer would work. It's interesting, you can have a bowl of fruit, or an assortment of fruit on skewers and the skewers go first every time. It's just more fun to eat off a skewer I guess.

This is very close to my recipe.

I use either white or baby Bella Take off ends (I trim and marinate for later if they're good).

BUT I parboil the caps for 5-6 mins. Take out of boiling water and let drain upside down. Better this way.

Plain breadcrumbs, copious amounts of garlic and onion powder, fresh or dried parsley. Leave out parm. Salt & pepper. Taste for seasoning levels. Add oil til moistened bit not sopping. Like medium wet sand lol.

I spray pie tins and bake. 350ish til browned on top.

Stuffed mushrooms are a clutch move. I like to mix finely chopped walnuts with sautéed shallots, garlic, and spinach, then bind it with a bit of tahini and nutritional yeast before stuffing. Bakes up with a nice umami punch.

Bruschetta

Hummus and carrot / celery / bell pepper sticks or crackers.

Guacamole, bean dip, artichoke dip with dippers as above.

Spiced roasted nuts. Mixed nuts roasted with a nice spice blend and salt.

Homemade croutons; cube up slightly stale bread, coat with oil and salt and roast until crisp. Use a nice loaf and let it get stale and dry first

I make a bean dip that might be an option because it is different than hummus. 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained, and 1/2 cup salsa blended together in a food processor. You have to label it because it looks sort of gross but it's really good.

There are so many great bean dips. Refried beans work too. White beans and garlic, and loads more. I’d love to try yours

oven baked chips and homemade salsa... not sure if that counts as finger food but I love it

Bruschetta is pretty good if the individual slices are nice and small. Topped with bought or made things like; cream cheese + salsa, chopped cooked mushrooms and garlic, chopped tomato and parmesan. (vegan cheeses, obviously) and there are others, these are just what I do.

Sausage rolls. Make them small with vegan sausage and add mustard or chutney. Most bought puff pastry is vegan.

Many supermarkets have vegan party foods like mini veg spring rolls, mushroom bao buns, mini vegan pizza (and this easy to make yourself).

If you like the skewer idea then cut up cooked vegan meatballs, sausages, or burgers, threaded on with cherry tomatoes, olives, veggie bits or whatever you like will look good and be easy to eat.

If the people are funny about vegan food then the bought options are a good choice, but none of these ideas are obviously vegan or strange.

I hope you find ideas that will work for you.

I make these whenever I go to a pot luck or vegan picnic meetup. Always get rave reviews
