I live in Chicago, the city where all these inbreds you’re talking about have been brainwashed into thinking it’s the most violent place on the planet. None of them understand crime rates to realize Chicago doesn’t even crack the top 40 most dangerous cities in the US. They just hear the Fox News reports that 6 (of the 9 million) people were murdered over the weekend, but never bat an eye at the 4 (of 680k) people killed in Memphis that same weekend.

What even more crazy is how concentrated most of Chicago’s crime is in certain neighborhoods I’ve never even been through and never will, and certainly no tourist ever would. It will be like random two-block stretches between the city and the suburbs, where it’s just nonstop gang on gang violence and turf wars.

But nobody here is too bothered by the MAGA repellant narrative.

Fucking parts of Alabama are waaaay more dangerous than Chicago. Chicago is safer than New York and ny is nowhere near as dangerous as people make it out to be. Heck southern states are more scary and dangerous, like we still have sundown towns in this day and age

I grew up and lived most of my life in Atlanta, and have been in Chicago for about six years now. I can confirm that Atlanta is far more dangerous as a whole than Chicago. Most notably because the danger is just spread out across anywhere and everywhere in the city. It’s not consolidated into smaller areas. If you were going to look at a murder map of Chicago, where the safe areas are blue and the dangerous areas are red, you’re going to see mostly blue with a few areas that are just hot red. Atlanta’s whole map would just be different shades of purple.

Tea Party Mother in Law (gets all her news from Fox and conservative radio) doesn’t live anywhere near Cleveland. Our family doesn’t either (we live in NJ) but when we visited we went to Cleveland for some games with my son and the Rock Hall. We also visited other family in Ohio.

We offered and sister in law offered to get her a ticket when both sides of the family went to the Lake Erie Crushers game…nope..Avon is too close to Cleveland! Friggin Avon!

She couldn’t believe we would trust taking our kid to “the city.” Two of her other grandkids went to college in the city and settled there, she said,”I guess I’ll never see you again” “Don’t join MS-13!” and various other fucked up shit.

We flew out of Philadelphia to visit her and offered to fly her out a few times. She said she heard about Kensington (the small depressed neighborhood that became viral for drugs online). She also was afraid to come out this summer because the World Cup was in Phila and “There will surely be illegals trafficking women there.”

These people believe anywhere that is not the sanctuary of Lutheran white folks is an urban Blue hellhole.

It is utterly shocking how easy it really is to achieve that. People are primed to be scared of existential threats they don't understand - just wind them up, and point them in a direction

I think it was Freuds nephew that first weaponized this. Forget his name.

Chicago, while very much a safe place to be, isnt actually safer than NYC. NYC is kind of remarkable I think it ranks like 74th in the country.

Crime rates? They don't understand "rates" at all. Averages, median, per capita....hell, based on those goddamn stupid maps that they love to post showing how red the country supposedly is, they don't even understand how numbers work at all.

Let’s face it, they don’t understand how fucking anything works, and there are far too many powerful people in America that like it that way, and want more of these people. It’s the reason that they don’t want them aborting babies. They want more and more and more dumber and dumber and dumber people

It's not just America. Conservatives are (almost) equally as dumb up here. There are people running in our provincial election right now who think you can repeal things that aren't legislation and have a fundamental misunderstanding of the responsibilities different levels of government have. And they're proud of it.

I also live in Chicago but im from Minneapolis and some people here think Minneapolis is a burning pile of ash. Like look outside and recognize that this city isnt what you see on the news, then let that make you skeptical about any other cities people claim are crime ridden warzones.
