Farmers are subsidized to high hell and still bitch when the federal government imports a ton of foreign beef because a pound of ground beef was more expensive than an hours work at minimum wage
All family farms are going under already because corporate profiteering interests have taken over.
But no, I don't think that. I think that if taxpayers are going to subsidize an entire industry those products should be made available to those taxpayers and not held hostage.
We have the ability to feed the world yet we fuck about over profit margins, bailouts, and massive waste of fresh foods some company couldn't sell and didn't want to donate.
No, I'm not on the farmers' side here, because their side is to take handouts and then try to play a game of capitalism while children go hungry.
And beyond that, they overwhelmingly support the xenophobic and racist agenda of Republicans so they can fuck right off and reap what they sow (because, obviously, they're farmers).
so why would you use the farmers to justify subsidized grocery stores? Shouldn't you point to something you support to indicate why you support something else? Feels weird, like you want to do bad stuff because the people you hate also do that stuff
Not at all. The equivalence is that an entire subset of society is bitching about a government subsidy while ignoring the other subsidies the government provides.
Many support the subsidizing of farmers to grow our food but then piss their panties when people try to eat it.
