Trumps statement is clearly saying he thinks they are there for him. The idea they are covering a larger event and not specifically him is inconceivable to him. It was the same when he was with Mamdani, every reporter was there for Trump according to his own delusions.
The problem is that some people think "my leader should have an absolute right to tell 3rd parties what to do" is a reasonable preference that deserves to be put to a political debate.

If she had finished her statement with that… just a simple “We are credentialed by the United Nations to cover the General Assembly, piggy” we all could have watched him melt down and have a stroke in front of the world. Would’ve been glorious to see.
What's wild is that members of his administration (Rubio, I think) are saying "we didn't *ban* those news outlets. We just removed their special access to the White House. They can still write their stories, just not from inside the White House" and then less than 24 hours later Trump says explicitly about them "you shouldn't be covering me" and questions why they're allowed at the UN.
I don't think his statement will do him any favors when this gets in front of the Supreme Court since he has just admitted that he wants CNN to be prevented from covering him anywhere, not just inside the White House.
I am genuinely disappointed in Americans. This man represents you—congratulations on your choice, perhaps you will succeed in the midterms.
