She was called “elite” as an insult. Yeah I want competent elites in charge.

Maybe not elite. But capable and professional

Conservatives called her an elitist to make her sound out of touch around the 2016 election cycle.

Clinton certainly was an elitist but so was every conservative calling her one. Including Donald Trump who then went on to become a terrorist after the world discovered he is a pedophile.

I was gonna say, Trump's ENTIRE PERSONALITY is about being as much of an "elite" as possible

I always forget to ad the 'domestic' qualifier. Every president has been a terrorist (re: war criminal), but only one, Donald Trump, is a domestic terrorist.

Always mind boggling that calling Clinton elitist worked when she was running against a damn billionaire who was born rich.

They're both elitist lol.

The issue is Clinton's immediate reputation and attributes are all about being "elite"...connections of a career politician, dynastic, schmoozing with power, political ambitions since day one, etc.

Obviously Trump is even worse in those regards, but his first impressions were more about his strong personality and not being "from" politics

connections of a career politician, dynastic, schmoozing with power, political ambitions since day one, etc.

Which I never understood this complaint.

Do I want someone who has been in the industry working for 30 years and full knowledge of it?

Or do I want someone is simply rich?

It's like hey do you want a mechanic to work on your car, he's a career mechanic, knows all the people the area in the industry.

Or, do you want something radical and new to work on your your vehicle that literally you need to survive in the country. This radical person could change your vehicle for the best!

It's this 5 year old child I found at a golf course! Lots of them really, covered in McDonald's wrappers.

But it's a radical difference!!!

So fucking stupid. People are.

That's incredibly reductive lol. I could sit here and spend a whole day telling you all the ways in which being a career politician is negative, but that wouldn't be the point either.

Instead let's just keep it straight forward, and have you think about this:

She was a politicians SPOUSE for 20 years, before jumping right to the US senate. By having the party clear the field for the primary, and buying a house in the most guaranteed Democrat win state in the country (NY). All while her husband was still president.

And then started her own presidential campaign 6 years later. Which she lost, but was immediately given Secretary of State.

There's no doubt that Hilary Clinton is incredibly intelligent and very, very capable. But come the fuck on, you should know why people don't want these things in a candidate.

Obviously Trump is worse on all fronts, but this conversation isn't about him.

It didn't help that MSNBC & CNN refered to them as the elite, or themselves as the elites.

She WAS out of touch lol. It's not like people were wrong to actually say that, it just so happens that it pales in comparison to Trump's bs

Make no mistake the Clinton is a woman with decades of government experience that has shown repeated competent decision make.

However, she did plenty if work to make herself look out of touch, it didn't help people "Pokémon go to the polls."

What’s the difference

I mean that's what an elite athlete is.

She went to college! what a nerd!

Right? Everyone wants elite athletes on the Olympic team. But for some reason, they want people with no discernable skills running the country.

Reminds me of those olympic athletes that got caught going to the gym before competitions. Shameful

Eh. Competent, yes. Elite, no.

"elite" isn't someone who is skilled. It's the modern nobility.
