How does the county board get to decide to remove voting sites? Shouldn’t that be approved by the voters? Those board members need to be thrown on the rack.

Republicans for sure...they love to cheat and make it difficult for everyone else.

25

u/PondersOverYonder 6h ago

But voter fraud... /s

22

u/YoureProbablyR1te 5h ago

North Carolina is one of if not the most aggressively gerrymandered states and the politics there at a state level are so corrupt it’s insane.

6

u/No_Difference_9195 5h ago

So I live in this county. The board of elections is 3 Republicans and 2 Democrats. There was 1 Democrat that was against this plan and the removal of the sites at A&T and UNCG.

Also to add, it was sent to the state for final approval, which is the same makeup.

u/uhooooook 2h ago

May they forever be remembered for this. Traitors.

First, you don't know if they're Republicans. Second, I hope you agree that regardless the right to vote should not be infringed. I may disagree with Republicans but I refuse to become what I hate by denying anyone their rights. Today 17th is a no Kings day and they might be Dems. Jose, I support your rights.

u/Rope_slingin_champ 5h ago

Look at what Texas has done with polling places and where they removed them. Wild shit

11

u/UniqueIndividual3579 5h ago

And Republican judges say it's all cool and legal.

3

u/Puzzled_Main3464 5h ago

Tarrant County has been real bad

As long as the ends justify the means. Ends being they never lose power.

u/saltwater98380 1h ago

The as TX 600000 new voter registration lawsuit barely hit the media. I read it on The Guardian and saw local news reports from TX on YouTube.

3

u/alternativepuffin 4h ago

Its usually controlled by the County Clerks office and hardly anyone ever wants the job. It's traditionally held by a Republican woman in her 60's who has been doing it for the past 20 years. And she is running unopposed 90% of the time.

If progressives want to build from the ground up, its the place to start.

4

u/AlbertTheHorse 5h ago

It’s run by people elected in tiny local elections that few people vote in.

2

u/fistedwithlove 1h ago

they've done it here in north texas as well. dozens have polling sites closed in my area while the population is exploding. it's bullshit.

2

u/nimblybimbly3000 1h ago

Time to drag these corrupt officials out by their short hairs.

1

u/henryeaterofpies 5h ago

Well you see we have X polling sites and Y people, which averages out to Z people per polling site. We can manage with z +500 people per polling site so to save costs we can remove, say, 50 polling sites statewide.

Well we cant remove any of the rural ones, because it would be too far for people to get to, so let's remove them where they are close together. Sure, that means that in actuality it's +2000 people per polling site there but that only hurts democrats so the republicans in charge are cool with it.

(Looks at the LONG history of political fuckery in the Jim Crow South)

Things change when the government respects/ fears the wrath of organized citizens that understand how to wield local power

C'mon Young Voters!! Trump won last time because young voters didn't vote. Trump no longer has Latino or younger voters. Let's show Trump that we hate fascism and we absolutely hate MAGA! 🌊💙VOTE BLUE 🌊🔵VOTE DEMOCRAT 🌊🔵💙

-3

u/Spankpocalypse_Now 4h ago

I don’t know. The 18 to 35 year old male demographic seems more conservative now than it did the first time Trump was elected.

2

u/Ok_Record_9908 3h ago

I really think we got a more than solid chance to flip most states Blue. Look at all these kids marching. I think it's safe to say they're not conservatives or Maga Republicans at all. There's millions of young voters that are completely against voting out of racism and bigotry like conservatives and Maga Republicans.

-1

u/Spankpocalypse_Now 1h ago

I sincerely hope you’re right, but we’ve heard this sentiment every two years since Republicans went full crazy.

33

u/tinyhousefever 6h ago

Say no to Jim Crow 2.0!

22

u/Callingouteverything 6h ago

Good. Hopefully they all voted blue.

Everything about the current administration needs to GO.

2

u/WildRabbitz 5h ago

I'd seriously reconsider my political affiliation if I were a Conservative student who just had the biased school board remove the on-campus polling site. There's a reason why they desperately want to hurt the educational system.

0

u/Critical_Kingdom 4h ago

I was talking to my Dad the other day. We are both Canadian. He's a boomer. We agreed this is not a single administration thing. Everything is broken, and those who vote for change will not see it without some courage I don't see in the establishment. It's rotten all the way down.

52

u/Jtz001 6h ago

Yeah it's over for Trump.

28

u/Connect-South4139 6h ago

That's what i said when i couldnt get into the Kamala rally in Philly. The line stretched for blocks. We see how that turned out.

6

u/Due_Night414 5h ago

90M eligible voters couldn’t be bothered back then. Now that their cost of living has doubled, they’re bothered. Trump support was a lot higher then, too. Now? Not so much. It’s not to the point that they’d vote democrat but it’s to the point that they won’t vote at all. Addition by subtraction.

The concern here is the DOJ. Already sending warning letters to Cali about 20,000 voters. Saying if Cali counts them (claim is that these specific 20k are ineligible to vote), prison time is waiting.

If just 10% of those who didn’t vote in 2024 turn out, that’s 9M people. 20k is nothing. Yet DOJ is trying to intimidate and influence. Todd Blanche is frumps personal attorney. Now he’s the Federal AG.

I’m glad to see that people will not bend to attempts to suppress. I’m wondering how far this will go.

1

u/Antique-Coach-214 2h ago

Not just Cali, four states at least, have fought it.

1

u/Due_Night414 1h ago

Problem is WHEN midterms don’t go his way, he will sick Blanche on it and “find” fraud.

6

u/Kowalski711 5h ago

Counterpoint : went to a Kamala rally in Dekalb county with Obama as the first speaker. Waited in line 6 hours to get in.
The moment Obama stepped off the stage and Kamala starter her speech, the crowd started leaving in droves.

5

u/Sharticus123 5h ago

And trump’s rallies were empty and lifeless and that mfer still won.

11

u/Dragon_wryter 6h ago

4

u/CuTe_M0nitor 6h ago

Don't need to wish. Go and vote and get two other to not vote for him

16

u/No-Cheek7925 6h ago

It's not over until the votes are counted. Don't make that mistake a third time.

11

u/One-Detective63 6h ago

If they actually get counted that is.

7

u/No-Cheek7925 6h ago

If they never get cast it's a guarantee that they won't be. If this election does not draw a record turnout something is very wrong. It's the last chance to end this peacefully, I hope everyone gives it a try. Defeatism can be saved for December if it does indeed get stolen.

2

u/MrCleanMagicReach 5h ago

It won't be a record turnout. It looks like it will be a record midterm turnout though. Americans are still dumb af and think only the presidential race matters. A big part of the reason why we're in this timeline.

2

u/TheDarkKnightRevises 4h ago

Ironically a good thing in the Trump era since it would mean a lot of the low engagement Trump voters are staying home since he's not on the ballot.

6

u/abitworndown 4h ago

I hate to be called a cynic but after admitting that Russia and musk helped trump cheat his way to the White House by suppressing votes and creating votes that didn’t exist, there is 0% chance it won’t happen again. Unfortunately I think he’s here to stay for a very long time.

0

u/uhooooook 2h ago

Exactly what they want you to think. Just give up right? That's the spirit!

2

u/abitworndown 46m ago

Oh yea that’s totally what I said

5

u/CuTe_M0nitor 6h ago

Yeah he got voted as president twice. Both time people said no one is going to vote for him. Instead go and vote and get two other to vote against him then we can speak

2

u/WildRabbitz 5h ago

He will do anything he can to stop that from happening.

I'm more looking forward to his obituary so his base can see how much the entire world will celebrate when the orange pedophile is gone.

2

u/Gilead-is-here 4h ago

We better hope so, not just for the sake of our nation but for the sake of the world.

17

u/SparksAndSpyro 6h ago

That’s great. But I wish it didn’t take a wannabe dictator to motivate people to vote.

12

u/Sad_Pay_9089 6h ago

Congratulations to them for exercising their constitutional right.

3

u/Born_Consequence3025 5h ago

They just shouldn’t have to get so much exercise to do it…

1

u/TailoredHam88 4h ago

They shouldn’t. But I’m not surprised. Democracy is often a messy exercise of power that requires the people to take the streets to remind the elites that they’re a small minority.

11

u/Unique_Watch2603 6h ago

I'm proud of the young people getting out and making sure their voices are heard no matter what. 🫶

11

u/ADeliciousDespot 6h ago

This is nightmare fuel for conservatives. Don't stop.

2

u/alsatian01 2h ago

Bc they are racists it actually encourages them to vote in an election they might just stay home for.

11

u/MyPr0j3ct 6h ago

Way to go...they will think twice or three times because that's thousands of votes being casted and counted for change.

https://giphy.com/gifs/ftNUD9Htwc6Qb8dGjT

3

u/concerts85701 6h ago

Let’s hope they actually get counted.

10

u/PapaBear_3000 6h ago

That’s a beautiful sight.

9

u/techman710 6h ago

People who are serving the public encourage voting. People who are serving themselves discourage voting. We need to overcome their road blocks and throw them out so we can get real leaders.

10

u/gdazInSeattle 6h ago

Good on them! This is the way.

8

u/AskMeAboutTheMOHO 5h ago

What a god damn shame. This 2026 is looking a lot like 1966. #FuckRacism

7

u/Responsible_Ladder25 6h ago

The more you try to stop someone from doing something, the more they’ll want to do it. Kudos to these young people for refusing to be stopped.

8

u/champagnesupernova62 5h ago

Greensboro, North Carolina and North Carolina A&T have a long history changing this country. Very proud to be in Aggie ...even if it's only in spirit.

7

u/TRDOffRoadGuy 6h ago

Every State and Town across America should be in the streets!

5

u/partylike1989 6h ago

I’m voting BLUE no more red

6

u/leggomyeggle 6h ago

Helluva message right there

6

u/fuckDJT2026 6h ago

Proud of them. Keep fighting.

5

u/Dharmabud 5h ago

Nothing says we don’t want you to vote quite like removing a nearby polling place.

6

u/Terrible_User4987 5h ago

ELI5 what this means? I will assume some trumpy shit to restrict easy access to voting for people of color? so, these kids are a show of solidarity in "fine, we will vote over here then and show you"?

7

u/epicredditdude1 5h ago

Republicans removed voting locations at a black university in an attempt to prevent people that will likely vote D from voting. It’s just a naked attempt at voter suppression.

It’s not working. They’re voting anyway.

2

u/Terrible_User4987 5h ago

figured as much, but needed an eli5, appreciate your comment.

4

u/Resident_Bee_9275 6h ago

Good for u lil ones

5

u/Ego_Destruction 6h ago

Thank you NC A&T! What an inspiration. I love this.

5

u/BoulevardNoir10 5h ago

This is exactly why Republicans will continue to "win." They've made it so hard for people to vote. Good luck, everyone in the U.S.

3

u/Glass-Amount-9170 5h ago

That’s a beautiful sight to see!!

6

u/Mainly_Miserable 5h ago edited 4h ago

Don’t let momentum, polls, and headlines convince you that you don’t need to vote.

Exercise your franchise. Get out there and vote.

4

u/maybeinoregon 5h ago

Yes! Good for them!

The powers that be, don’t want voting to be convenient.

Technology allows our license on our phone, medical records on our phone, insurance on our phone, credit cards and banking on our phone. The idea that the world is going to unravel if we make voting convenient is a fallacy sold by the people who want control, purchased by the same people who voted in an illiterate.

3

u/Educational_Ice3978 6h ago

I find this very inspiring. Those kids got the message!!

3

u/Dry_Counter533 6h ago edited 5h ago

To everyone who says kids these days are too brain-rotted to care about politics, I point you to the Gen Z revolutions in

- Nepal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Nepalese_Gen_Z_protests

- Madagascar: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Malagasy_protests

These kids literally toppled their governments.

The kids are engaged. Here and around the world.

4

u/SmugRooster 5h ago

That’s the first Americans on the streets i have seen in months!! Awesome!

3

u/Electrical-Drama-755 5h ago

YES AMERICA. THIS is what it's all about. These fascists won't last. Keep up the energy!

5

u/serinmcdaniel 4h ago

There's a story (in Tim Tyson's "Blood Done Sign My Name," which is excellent) about the Greensboro sit-ins. Members of the NC A&T football team showed up at the lunch counter just in case someone should decide to beat up the protestors. A shopper looked at this absolute wall of muscle and said, "Who ARE you?" and a football player answered, "The Union Army."

4

u/ryogam73 2h ago

This makes me cry happy tears.

3

u/minibearpants 6h ago

Now THAT is civic engagement.

3

u/Leights68 6h ago

Bravo👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

3

u/Smart-Firefighter87 6h ago

Yeah - if the younger generation does their job and vote, he should be out as expected lol

3

u/JABlongSKI 6h ago

Let's go!!

3

u/Think_Tooth1675 5h ago

Limit what people can do and it may just backfire. Perhaps instead you should spend more time working on policies that can improve America lives?

3

u/Spankpocalypse_Now 4h ago

Pleasantly surprised at the absence of deranged comments about “streets are for cars” and “marching like this only pushes people to the other side.”

3

u/Hayduke_2030 3h ago

Love to see it.

3

u/WebInformal9558 3h ago

Local elections matter, and great job by those young people.

3

u/Mtlbndr 3h ago

Awesome.
Love this.

3

u/LasVegas4590 2h ago

As despicable as the county board’s action was, it probably backfired. They made voting a social event. My guess is that more students voted because of this.

3

u/sobe33139 2h ago

The young people need to save us!

3

u/Iamjustanothercliche 2h ago

Excellent move.  The ultimate FU

2

u/Emotional_Dealer8905 4h ago

This is the real “rigging” of elections!

2

u/imspecial-soareyou 3h ago

I hope the seemingly transparent great AG Jeff Jackson steps in to not just help but also talk to these students!

2

u/rflulling 2h ago

Wisconsin not long ago was the test bed for this insanity. Reducing polling sites, reducing operational hours. I don't remember if it was Wisconsin or another state where they first tested stripping poling sites from universities. Its a little known secret that ballots are loaded specifically at certain times of the year to take advantage of students being at campus or away. Politicians see student votes as substantial a threat as they do from, liberals, democrats, or any other people who might disagree or disobey.

1

u/FeWho 1h ago

Will this be on the news?

1

u/Unhappy-Attention760 21m ago

Bless these students

-2

u/westport_blues 5h ago

This is sad, so sad.

3

u/Hayduke_2030 3h ago

The fact that suppressive GOP pols closed the campus polling stations to try to prevent these kids from voting is absolutely sad.

-5

u/Specialist-Treat1404 4h ago

why are they walking in the street?

1

u/JBeeWX 1h ago

Because their ancestors walked those steps.

-7

u/mrcorndogman33 4h ago

We're all just blocking the street! We're all just blocking the street!
