It is a shame. As a European due to Trump, the USA has become abit of a laughing stock and can no longer be taken seriously.

i can't tell whether it's hilarious or depressing how many republicans are still brainwashed into thinking the US is respected by anyone on the planet anymore. it's like a circus clown seeing everyone laugh at him and think it's because they respect him

17

u/FoxyWolf27 5h ago

Honestly, that's disrespectful to the performance, talent, skills, and hard work required to be a circus clown. They are professionals who have worked hard to master their craft.

He is actively tearing down our democracy and has no respect for anyone or skills to speak of. I can only hope that we can repair the damage he has done to us on the world stage and on the home front. And to me, it's so depressing you can't help but laugh about it.

I think some of them are aware that other countries don't like or respect us but the way they view it is "were better than them anyway, so their opinion doesn't matter because we're winners and they are losers".

100% true. Isolationism is part of the agenda

1

u/sec713 3h ago

It's bold of you to assume they ever cared.

3

u/Commercial-Shame-335 2h ago

the US has most certainly had its time in the spotlight and has been essential in some major historical events, there was once a time that the country was respected. but it hasn't been in a long time

2

u/sec713 2h ago

Right. That's completely true. The US may have been respected at some point, but I don't think that's something Republicans ever cared about, which can easily explain why they care so little if the US isn't respected now.

It's funny that you think we give a shit about the respect of other countries for the most part. Most of which I might add the US still has to subsidize/aid.

2

u/ExistentialRebellion 2h ago

It's funny how you think that's true and that we don't need allies...

Laughing stock? I live here and I am horrified by what I see. I never knew my neighbors could support a dictator. I am hoping for great meaningful changes this November, but I am also terrified of this country being pushed off the rails by our fascist POTUS and his administration.

Tell me I am wrong: A fascist is a follower or supporter of fascismβ€”a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, and the forcible suppression of opposition.

You are 100% correct!

Reddit people are so entertaining.

Top 1% 🀣

-6

u/Bart-Doo 4h ago

I agree. I remember when you had to purchase health insurance or be fined, take a jab or be fired.

6

u/Overall_Echo_3063 4h ago

Really, you bring up vaccination into this as if its the same thing, wth

-5

u/Bart-Doo 4h ago

How many vaccinations are enough?

5

u/Relevant_Winter_7098 The Timeline Sucks 3h ago

Enough to stop the spread of preventable diseases

-3

u/Bart-Doo 3h ago

It didn't stop Dr Fauci from getting Covid.

4

u/Tubamajuba 2h ago

Now here's a guy who probably refuses to wear seat belts because people who wear seat belts can still get hurt in car accidents.

3

u/Relevant_Winter_7098 The Timeline Sucks 2h ago edited 1h ago

So you dont know how vaccinations work. Got it.

2

u/Allthemuffinswow 52m ago

Jfc, it doesn't work that way.

.....why am I even trying to bother explaining. You could take courses in microbiology and epidemiology and still not understand the basic mechanisms of how a vaccination works, I'd bet. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ˜’πŸ˜‘πŸ˜’πŸ˜‘πŸ˜’πŸ˜‘πŸ˜’πŸ˜‘

I have a lot of family (on both sides) living in several other countries. It is truly depressing to hear their feedback

1

u/MiLSturbie 3h ago

I used to be a laughing stock, but it really ain't funny anymore. I wish the people would wake up and take their country back.Β

1

u/JohnnyKac 2h ago

Maybe we should cut all subsidizing/support/military aid.

1

u/Ktucker01 2h ago

We are no longer giving them our money and they still hate us. Now they get to hate us for free !

1

u/Practical_Time3287 2h ago

A β€œbit”?

Gut wrenching watching it unfold from within.

1

u/twinbee 1h ago

Laughing stock? I admire you for having someone who isn't a total walkover in charge.

Much better than Obama, even if that guy was more intelligent in some ways (but less wise!).

I traveled 20 yrs ago to Italy… and we were a laughing stock then. I learned a lot about our real politics from listening to Italians. It’s so helpful for us to have leaders who hear out others critiques. To improve.

u/WuTangNameGenerat0r 4h ago

Right….. just like no one was going to attend the World Cup?

0

u/neityght 3h ago

What do you mean a European due to trump?

-1

u/Safe-Historian4028 4h ago

Dunno where you are from but they were a laughing stock from way, way before then. Now they are a public danger.

-2

u/Firm_Condition_4385 5h ago

Europeans have always thought the US was a laughing stock. In the early 2000s, it was over Bush, the wars, gas prices, americans being stupid and fat, etc.

Nothing has changed in this regard.

2

u/Relevant_Winter_7098 The Timeline Sucks 5h ago

"Always" is incorrect. Since Bush Jr. "Dubya" is definitely accurate based on my extensive travels and overseas family feedback since the 70s

1

u/Windman772 5h ago

So only a quarter century. Got it.

0

u/Relevant_Winter_7098 The Timeline Sucks 5h ago

Or 1/10 of our history. HUGE difference

1

u/deputyroughdicks 3h ago

This coming from someone who can be jailed based on tweets? Ya sure WE are the laughing stock

You sound a lot more like a bot than the comment above yours. You literally didn’t even hit on any points that were made in that comment…
