My favorite is the American flag hanging with the confederate flag in the same yard. Aside from the slavery/racism ect...dont they know that flag represents the south try to secede from the other flag you have hanging?

More of a rhetorical question because anyone hanging a confederate flag usually had the IQ of a mosquito but still.

I agree that the Confederate flag is anathema to my understanding of the US.

That said, I am slow to condemn someone for my associations with their symbology.

Many people wear crosses as a symbol of their belief in the kindness and love of God. Yet for Muslims, especially those in the Middle east, it's still a symbol of evil and hatred.

I can imagine a world--especially for people who were raised in a time when the civil war was not portrayed as about slavery--where the Dixie flag isn't about the Old South, but about something more benign like just The South. I can especially believe the pride one might feel in his home when it's the butt of many jokes about rednecks and inbreeding.

In short, I try to be slow to condemn and take my time to understand.

I mean they have had about 150 years, but its not specifically about the confederate flag itself but pairing that with the US flag at the same time is going against what they each stand for.

I get what you're saying, but they have had plenty of time this didnt happen last night.
