Outrage over cultural appropriation has always been a fake problem, a form of neo-segregation, no matter who is whining about it.

For some reason i know more black Ballet dancers than i do white.....
Its typical white girl stuff when young but most drop out when they realise how brutal it is.

Why is he making this a race thing? Just, like, do it? Have fun? Enjoy yourself. I hope he has fun and all.

Is he making it a race thing? Or is he pointing out the idiocy of making it a race thing because he wants to dance in shoes that are closer to his skin tone and some people got big mad about it?

it is so funny that people assume a person of the color is the one making things racial. you cannot imagine the daily bs. even misty copeland still faces this shit constantly.

The ballet world has always been gatekept from POC, so it’s been a “race thing” for a very long time.

Wait... is this all because of a brown ballet shoe? They're supposed to be skin coloured ffs. Tight and shoe colours don't define a whole artform.
This guy sounds like an obnoxious wanker, but the argument that somebody wearing non-white skin coloured ballet shoes is cultural appropriation is absolute bollocks anyway so 🤷♀️

No, cultural appropriation is not ‘bollocks’.
Ballet, like many things done by the former British Empire, was pushed upon a people and their cultural art was downgraded.
Until the cultural art becomes cool or trendy.
If it’s divorced from the culture it’s taken from. If respect and awareness of the history of the culture is acknowledged, it’s not appropriation.
Wearing a bindi with the awareness of the symbolism of its cultural history is fine. It is the awareness of the inner self with colors adding additional meaning.
When Gwen Stefani was dating Tony Kanal, Kanal’s mother gave some to her as a gift. Instead of acknowledging the deeper meaning, she adopted it because it cooled cool. Meanwhile, she practices a faith where the rosary is strictly forbidden as a fashion accessory despite how beautiful some can be because it is a prayer tool and sacramental.
Yet, she couldn’t see the similarities.
