Question Paginated Reports

I'm new to paginated reports and when I export the data in xlsx, the columns overflow into the next cell. How do I fix it? It doesn't happen when it's exported into csv.

If you have multiple tables on the report, make sure that all of the column widths match with each other if they are stacked vertically.

That’s it
Or just export it as csv

this is the one, misaligned widths will mess up the export every time

It's been a decade since I dealt with it, but might be it trying to match the rendering layout of the report.

Got a screenshot?

I'm not sure if you're talking about the standard Excel cell overflow where it autoflows into next cell if it's blank etc.

Or are you saying like it's merging and splitting cells that it shouldn't?

Generally the solution for export issues like this is correcting the height and width of each cell in the Paginated report. There's a couple tricks and these go back to the SSRS days. Basically you never want more than 2 decimal places on your Dimensions. It causes the conversion math to do funky stuff like merge cells or add cells where it shouldn't.

The other thing you can do is switch from "In" measurement to "pt". Which converts more smoothly to excel as it doesn't have to do the conversion math from Inches to Points.

This usually happens when the column widths in the report design don't align cleanly with the Excel grid columns. Try making sure your text box and column boundaries snap directly to the report ruler without tiny gaps, and check that no hidden elements are pushing the right margin out.

What about start from excel, then insert pivot table from PBI, then insert table.
