Infant formula
Hi all, my sister is looking for Kendamil formula for an infant, she’s very particular and wanting to give the same one but it’s getting harder to find. I was trying to tell her just switch to a more available brand, does anyone know what’s the best most readily available one? the organic one seems easier got so maybe just switch to that or SMA equivalent

I would say Aptamil is easiest to get. Stocked in all shops including Lidl.
Had issues myself getting SMA recently so switched

You can get bulk 1.2kg sized tubs of aptamil on he boots website. Works out slightly cheaper than getting the 800g tub.

I think the organic one is harder on tummys for some reasonm maybe just research that first!

Organic is a misnomer on baby formula, regulations mean they all have to be "organic" anyway, it's literally just marketing.

Yeah don't know why they don't shout that there's no fat from vegetable oil and only fat from whole milk not skimmed in theirs, Instead of saying oRgAnIc.

The equivalent formula in other brands is just is just stage 1 if they're not on any special dietary formula such as for milk allergies.
I use kendamil for this baby but I am mostly breastfeeding (just use formula when she needs a top up). I swapped between organic and normal with a newborn without any issues when she was getting a good bit of formula while I was working on increasing my breast milk supply.
To be honest if I was exclusively formula feeding I would try and transition to a different formula purely because kendamil availability can be so hit and miss, that or stocking up when it's available. Organic is more available but there is a knock on when normal one isn't available
If your sister wants she could buy a small rtf bottle for different brands to see if baby has any adverse reaction before committing to a different formula? In theory they should all be fine as long as they're stage 1 and not any special formula such as for a milk allergy. For example I gave some cow and gate to my baby recently without any reactions (I had some rtf that were about to expire, had them when she was born in case she didn't like kendamil) but she only gets a bottle of formula every other day so I don't know if it would be a bigger change if all your sisters baby has ever had is kendamil.
On my first who was predominantly formula fed I used aptamil as this was the most available and there was never any issues with supply

Formula is so tightly regulated in Ireland that nearly all formula recipesare the exact same between the different brands

My baby only drinks Kendamil, won't touch another brand. I buy it in Boots and Tesco and occasionally order from this website.

She should just get a subscription. Head onto the Kendamil website, get a monthly subscription with however many tins she needs per month. Arrives within a couple days. It’s so handy, we did this when we found it hard to find on shelves.
