Advice needed What would actually make a grocery list app useful enough for you to keep using it?

I’ve been working on my first app, originally just to make grocery shopping easier for my family.

It started as a shared grocery list so everyone could add things as we ran out. Since then, I’ve added a few features:

Shared lists that update in real time.
AI that identifies groceries from a fridge photo.
Recipe scanning to add ingredients to your list.
Receipt scanning to collect actual grocery prices.
Comparing grocery costs across nearby stores using those prices.

The price comparison is what excites me most. I’d love to help families spend less, but getting accurate pricing is challenging.

I’m building this in my spare time and wondering if I’m overcomplicating it.

What would you actually use? Would receipt-based price comparisons be helpful, or would you rather have a simple shared list?

I’d genuinely appreciate some outside perspectives.

Self Promotion I built a calendar where each event has its own tasks

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi r/ProductivityApps

Over the past few years, I've been building a productivity app to replace both my calendar and to do apps. It's called Zesfy and you can directly add your daily tasks right inside calendar events instead schedule them one by one. Here's some of the features:

  • It combines your calendar and to-do list into a single view.
  • You can easily schedule multiple tasks together to calendar.
  • Helps you quickly decide what tasks to work on next
  • Organize week tasks with task status
  • Easily keep track of your task progress
  • Works entirely offline

I'd love to hear what you guys think about the app. Let me know if you have any feedbacks.

Self Promotion I built a Windows notes app where your notes automatically follow your files and projects

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ever open a spreadsheet, PDF, or any file / project and completely forget what you were working on?

That's the problem I built ClingNote to solve.

It's a Windows notes app where your notes follow your work.

ClingNote remembers which notes go with which files and applications. Open a spreadsheet, and its notes appear. Switch to another file, and the relevant notes can automatically switch with you. Come back weeks later, and everything is right where you left it.

Open a spreadsheet, and its notes are there. Switch to another file, and the relevant notes can automatically switch with you. Come back weeks later, and you can pick up where you left off without digging through folders trying to find your notes.

It's still a full notes app, with rich text, Markdown, checklists, multiple notes per file, deep search, pop-out notes, and export. Everything is stored locally.

The biggest feature request I've gotten so far is Tasks that work the same way, so I'm working on that now too.

What I'm most curious about from this sub:

Would you prefer having some notes automatically connected to the files you're working on, or do you like keeping everything in one central notes library?

Advice needed App that prompts you to write a note at a certain time?

I’ve been trying to get into the habit of brain-dumping after class as a way of active recall, but I’ve found doing it on paper is annoying due to having to transition classes and I always forget to do it if I try to use a notes app. Is there an app that could pop up or notify me to write something down after a class ends and keep them to look back on?
Or maybe just advice on another way to do this lol

Advice needed Best AI Agent for distinguishing between voices?

Hi Everyone!

I have meeting coming up soon, and I’ve been going through previous Reddit posts trying to find the best AI tools for this, but I haven’t found much specifically about distinguishing between different speakers.

I’m looking for a free AI agent that can accurately distinguish between multiple voices, identify who is speaking, and take organized notes with speaker labels. Ideally, it would also summarize key points, decisions, and action items while keeping track of who said what.

What are the best tools for this? I’d appreciate any recommendations based on personal experience, or if you’ve designed any for public use, especially tools that work well in real time during meetings. Thanks!

Self Promotion I made phoneless garden because i didn’t like blocking apps

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello.
Bit background:
So I started to notice that hmm I’m losing quite a lot time to doomscrolling and tried many traditional screen time apps. Somehow all of them felt just a bit wrong. The shame, the static goals, oh that video is now gone and it was only interesting thing today.

I tried to built my own bit more freedom version that allows any kind of goals and ended up what now is phoneless garden.

And what is that then? On phoneless garden you don’t get locked out for rest of day after x time. First you select how long you want to spend in app and then it just makes you pause for 10-90sec. You can always continue just by waiting a bit and selecting how long until next pause. Too simple to work? I thought it too but somehow it just works. Most of the time for me atleast I do have other things to do but would like to scroll just a bit and then stop.

I also wanted to include mood tracking so i can see if i scroll more on some days based on my mood. I also have daily type goals so I can choose that on work days my goals are smaller than on weekends when I have more time to spend on my phone.

It’s freemium model where all basic pause features are free but with subscription you get more customization, widgets and longer history data. It was very important to me that this is not another app that needs to be sign into so no accounts.

Any thoughts? Comments?

Feedback wanted Guidance on my Productivity App

Hi Guys!!

I am doing an android app called Goal Village which is about achieving your goals, and if you do it, your village gets bigger 😄 So you have a visual representation how are you doing it based on the villager population. It currently register goals and you can have kind like a pomodoro timer too.

The thing is that I have 3 big issues:

  1. I don't know if it's really an interesting concept, I haven't iterated with the community (this is my first approach), so I don't know if this solve something.

  2. I do feel that is kind a boring, it kind a feels like an agenda, and not that much as a game :( I am trying to add kind a like animations, but it doesn't feel that fun.

  3. Once I get too many villagers it gets too crowded. I was thinking on maybe making the villagers kind a like a currency where you can send them on missions or travels and you gain cool collectables/avatars on return

Also, if anybody is interested on testing, I would be more than happy to share the beta that I currently have for feedback :D

Thank you so much for reading so far!

Self Promotion Update on Plans: your calendar next to your tasks

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi community! Some of you might remember Plans from my earlier post here. Thanks to everyone who tried it and left feedback, a lot of this update came straight from your comments.

Quick intro if you're new: I built Plans because my to-dos kept getting lost inside notes. I'd write "Weekend plans" with all the details, and then nothing would happen, because the actual tasks lived in a different app. In Plans, you long-press a note, tap "Make it a task", and it shows up in Today. Tap the task later and you can jump right back to the note with all the details.

What's new:

📅 Calendar events next to your tasks. Today and Upcoming now show your iPhone Calendar events (Google Calendar too, if it's added to your iPhone).

🧹 Tap the Today tab again to hide overdue tasks and see only what's actually for today. Tap once more to bring them back.

🎨 A fresh look. New app icon, softer colors and now works on iPad.

⭐ The Today widget can now show only your priority tasks. Long-press it → Edit Widget → Priority only.

It's free to use, and the extra stuff (custom repeat days, reminders ahead of time, 5 additional themes) is a one-time purchase. No subscription.

Casual Conversations Just tried Addys AI on my own calls, and it’s amazing

After seeing several ads on my insta feed, I finally used Addys on my actual meetings, and wow, it honestly surprised me. I was expecting something closer to Granola, but it’s on a whole different level. The call ends and the follow-up and tasks are already drafted and ready to go.

If you know any other tools or proactive agents worth trying, let me know! This made me realize I should probably take testing new tools more seriously if I want to keep up with the latest trends.

Feedback wanted I’m building Yarimo to make planning less frustrating. What would you change about your current planner?

Hey everyone! I’m building Yarimo to help with the frustrating parts of traditional planners, like rewriting tasks and keeping up when plans change. I’d love to hear what bothers you about your current planner and what you’d want me to add in future updates. Any ideas are welcome :)

Advice needed is it too much?

So i ve build my own app to track stats and bad habits with. this pet. one of the features i have is this, if you are a smoker and trying to get rid of smoking, i have a feature that makes it easier to log your cigarettes. on your pc if it sees you from your webcam that you re smoking it instantly detects it an then asks you if you are actually somking or if it s a false alarm. It s very good as a feature tbh, but the thing is that i know not everyone would like to have his webcam open 24/7, it feels like it s a trust issue there, or at least it feels very sketchy, but the tracking is sooooo good so far i ve been the only one using it and it s amazing, also because no pictures of your are taken and sent to the internet or anything, the whiole app is running locally beside the friends, that s the only this that actually needs a database.

but is that feature too much for other users? cause for me tbh i love it and makes the whole process so smooth.

Casual Conversations Is Unrot battery ever gonna come back?

Ever since they deleted the battery approach in Unrot I hate the coin based system, I forget to turn on the Unrot timers, by consequence all the time I have 0 coins to scroll. That makes me delete the app, does anybody has the same issues? Or does anybody know when is coming back?

Casual Conversations What actually happens to your to-do list by the end of the day?

Curious how this plays out for other people. By the end of the day, your to-do list usually ends up…

A) Mostly done B) Written and never opened again C) Rewritten the next morning D) Half done, half carried over forever

Which one are you, and does the list actually change what you do, or is it more of a brain dump?

Self Promotion This planner might be for you if you like simple Notion planners

If you love elaborate trackers, habit streaks, mood logs, and aesthetic spreads this probably isn't that. I built it specifically for people who find those things overwhelming, not people who enjoy them.

It's deliberately bare. Dump tasks, see today, that's mostly it. If "simple to the point of empty" sounds like relief instead of boring, it's probably for you.

Casual Conversations Found this uniquely satisfying, funky new to-do app called Headscratch

Post image
0 Upvotes

Came across a relatively new productivity app called Headscratch and wanted to share how cool the interface looks.

Instead of normal checkboxes, you literally scratch tasks off to complete them, and everything is set up with expiring timelines and fun themes (this one is the pool theme).

Thought others here who like aesthetic or unusual productivity tools might find it interesting.

Advice needed Does anyone have a solution for this?

I hate saving pictures, links and notes on my phone and forgetting them which leads to never doing the tasks i intended on doing.

Does anyone have an app or tool that can organise this and make it so i can find, see and remember what i saved to do?

Casual Conversations Why do planning apps sometimes become another thing to manage?

Hey everyone!

I have been digging through reviews of Tiimo and other planning apps like Structured, Todoist, and TickTick lately, and I have noticed a recurring theme: a lot of people seem to struggle with the very apps that are supposed to make their lives easier.

They spend ages setting things up, keep moving unfinished tasks around, forget to open the app, or end up with a beautifully organized to-do list but still can't get themselves to actually do anything.

I have been looking into this from a UX perspective, but I would rather hear from real people than just rely on reviews and articles.

Q: Have you ever used a planning app that seemed great at first, but eventually just didn't work for you? What made you stop using it?

And if you have found something that actually works for you, I would love to hear about that too.

Thank you

Advice needed Released my productivity app this week. Feedback appreciated

App link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/notepods/id6812641440

Hope you guys are doing well. I launched my first app to the App Store recently. I would appreciate some feedback around product design, missing features that may be lacking, in app purchase structure, and anything else that may be preventing my app from being its best version. I’m new to the game and even subtle things like adding EULA and privacy policy wasn’t things I imagined I needed to have in my app. If there are glaring flaws in the app design let me know. Otherwise feedback about the app good or back is appreciated. I’ve been pretty quick about fixing things up or enhancing an existing feature. I would like to think the app is “ready” but let’s hear it from everyone here

Took me 2 months to solo develop this with 25k lines of code
Basic premise about this app is that it provides notetaking through mini utilities rather than simply notetaking with a rich text editor or canvas to draw on.

Casual Conversations I feel like most digital wellbeing apps just track your screen time but don’t really do much to keep you engaged, so you eventually lose interest and forget about them.

Post image

So that's why I build this app called screenbill that gives your phone usage as bill everyday without a miss.

I've been building this little android thing on weekends because my own screen time was embarrassing. basically your phone gives you a bill at night like an electricity bill, every app is a line item, and there's a line for anything you used after midnight.

last night's bill said instagram 1h 40m, 58 min of it after 12. the insult at the bottom was "you could have slept. you chose reels." which, fair.

solo project, free, everything stays on the phone. link in comments if anyone wants to poke at it, mostly want to know if the bill idea lands for anyone else or just me
