He also showed there is LOTS of money for what matters. You just have to tax the rich properly.

It's weird, almost as if you can fund shit with tax dollars if you aren't either stealing it or giving it away to companies.

An American politician not using the office for personal enrichment? AND improving the situation of the people who voted for him? AND HES NOT PUNISHING PEOPLE WHO DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM???? HUH?!?!? THIS IS AMERICA! he can't just do that here.

This is why the media is trying so hard to smear him right now. They can’t afford to let this style of politics catch on and go mainstream

Anyone have a list on what he has accomplished because I’m sure it’s extensive

So serious question here. I'm not from ny so I'm only getting this info third party.

So where are the funds coming from and why didn't other mayors do this? This guy keeps getting win after win, and I'm like "ok surly it wasn't so corrupt that a guy can just walk in and fix shit"

This is oversimplified, but in a nutshell, he asked NY state to give more of its budget to NY city. IIRC the state had 10B of taxes held in reserve and gave 8B of that to the city. Mamdani intends to refill that reserve by taxing the wealthy and making existing programs more efficient.

Basically the state was keep a chunk of its funding as a rainy day fund and decided that this was it. The new taxes are going to refill that rainy day fund.

America is the wealthiest nation on the planet. We have the money.

We don't use that money to make life better for the average American because the establishment's power comes from wealth disparity and poverty. People in poverty can't say no to the wealthy, go into politics, risk being illegally fired for striking or joining a union, or afford lawyers for when a corporation poisons their water supply or for when one of the Epstein class rapes them. Keeping things bad for the average American weakens the country and the economy, but it strengthens the power of the ruling class. We are a democracy, there shouldn't be a ruling class.
