Question Waiting…

In the case of a BCR, how long did you wait from the moment the doctor ordered the PET-CT scan until you received the results and began radiation therapy?

Until you get a PET scan the treatment options are not final.

My PET scan was ordered on 7/10; performed on 7/22. Got the scan results the same day. They also ordered a Decipher score on 7/10 and got the results on 7/16.

Had to meet with a radiation oncologist and my urologist (surgeon) to discuss treatment options. Last appointment was 8/25 (got Lupron shot too). I had IMRT (28 treatments) starting 9/1.

It’s all confusing and takes a long time. And the PSA is rising.

Where are you based? How much flexibility does your insurance plan give you?

BCR in February. PSMA PET scan and MRI in April. ADT began in May. ARPi began in early July. SBRT began in late July.

Do you have a Medical Oncologist? ADT can delay further progression of the cancer while treatment is being sorted out. Have you repeated the PSA to confirm the latest number and the tendency?
