Feature Request Proton Notes - Please make it happen.
Proton has Mail, Calendar, Drive, Pass, Meet and VPN. The one thing missing? Notes.
Every major email service provider has one - Gmail has Keep, Outlook has OneNote. I know Proton already bundles Standard Notes with some plans, but it still feels like a separate app, separate login flow, and barely connected to the rest of the Proton ecosystem.
The easiest path forward - integrate Standard Notes into the Proton ecosystem. It’s already open-source and end-to-end encrypted. It fits perfectly.
Even a simple notes panel inside Proton Mail webmail would be a great start.

I would like them to further improve their existing products before launching more. Proton Meet, for instance, needs a lot of work. But it would make sense to do actual integration of Standard Notes, an existing service they own with decent userbase with the Proton ecosystem.

That's the thing though. Some of their existing products are missing very basic functions. That's why so many of us get frustrated when people suggest new feature requests or want aesthetic changes before fixing very basic functions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. We're not asking for perfection or for the products to be "done" - but it is 100% reasonable to request basic functionality of products that we've been waiting for for years before expanding their ecosystem or adding unnecessary features. (Unnecessary features being things like app icons and liquid glass, not a Notes app). But things need to be prioritized.

I'm a Proton Unlimited subscriber and enthusiastically support them, but even Calendar — one of their original products more than a decade old — is missing basic functionality.
Searching through the titles of past events is basic functionality in 2026, but they're still working on implementing that in the mobile apps. I hope they finish soon! But this is very slow progress. And as far as I can tell on iOS, they haven't yet perfected "offline mode" either. I assume that's coming in the major updates planned by EOY.

Is it? This feels kind of niche. I don't think I've ever had to go dig through past events.

Calendar - Agenda/Schedule View where it shows all your events at once just to name one.....i gave up using Calendar on IOS...Just about 2 years they couldn't even add that. But hey at least during that whole time, we got new products in Wallet ,Lumo, and Meet (/s). Kinda crazy that free apps have more "Features" and get updated at faster pace than proton cal. I get it to why people are upset( they have the right to be) focus on adding features to your Core apps instead of just maybe adding 1 every so often but yet coming out with new products right away.

Notesnook collaboration or at least some UI alignment?

They own Standard Notes already.

Notesnook is based in Pakistan.

What would you propose they do specifically? It sounds like you're asking them to triple prices to include SN and Lumo in the existing plans in the name of "convenience", but obviously most existing customers would take issue with that.
If your concern is communication, maybe you'll be glad to hear they're rebranding their Ultimate subscription to better reflect the new service lineup.

I think hes just pointing out that protons services and price plans aren't simple or fully inclusive of their services. Customers like things simple. Complications cause people to not want to use the product.
I know I found lumo pricing confusing... I pay for unlimited proton and then... I have to pay for lumo? Why is this extra? Why is it also so expensive when I'm already paying for protons services? So I didn't pay for lumo because it's too complicated.

Why would proton cannibalize their own product? Why would they compete with a product they already have but refuse to integrate?

I want a Google keep by proton.
I don't really care for a whole full fledged note app.

Bear notes synced to Proton Drive or other cloud services using Cryptomator is good. Simple but good.

Infomaniak est en train de développer son calendrier / notes / taches. Avec un écosystème reliés de bout en bout. Contrairement à Proton qui rachète Standard Notes. Mais qui ne fera jamais partie intégrante de Proton.

Even just copying the UI of Google Keep or Apple Notes would be sufficient at this point

Not an ios or mac user. But I like the ui of apple notes. An apple notes clone by proton would be fire.

I'm an Evernote user from the early days. I decided to give Standard Notes a try when they announced it. I exported my Evernote files but one file wouldn't import into Standard Notes. SN support tried to be helpful but could not provide a solution. I'm still an Evernote user.

What I really need is a note app that has both typing and handwriting. But I would honestly to get one from Proton

That's wright. I think standard notes isn't user friendly. Joplin is a good référence to build an appli

Do it - just do it.
Google Keeps must be possible to be copied, but like, in not evil : )

I don’t know, a privacy focused porn site might be interesting. Ass2Ass encryption.

Why do you want a Proton Notes app when can just use Joplin
1
u/Regular_Bat8162 May 21 '26
Why use Proton Mail when you can just use Tuta, why use Proton Pass when you can just use Bitwarden, why use Proton VPN when you can just use Mullvad.
Why does Proton exist at all when there are alternatives?
Why not have more options and integration with the Proton ecosystem?
What a pointless comment

They’re complaining about Standard Notes (Proton app) in their post
1
u/Regular_Bat8162 May 21 '26
Standard Notes is not a Proton app
It is owned by Proton but there is no integration, Proton branding, different login, seperate pricing
To add to that officially the Standard Notes service is operated by Standard Notes Ltd based in the US not by Proton in Switzerland

Absolutely
And no Standard Notes is not what we want
A separate subscription, no integration, horrible UI
Ludicrously expensive (even with the Proton subscriber discounts)
And the free plan is too basic
Another login
We want Proton Notes (and Tasks)
u/Proton_Team u/ProtonSupportTeam
And notes in Proton Pass while nice are for a different purpose - not general info, but secrets, security questions etc
They may be good solutions while we wait for something good but they’re not The Solution
