Messages are kept unread

What's up? When I go to my inbox, the messages are kept as unread. The mail icon still shows unread messages count. I have to click on every single one of them to make it mark as read.

Where does it happen? Inbox

What browser extensions are installed? ???

I think I've heard that this is happening for everyone on Old Reddit, even without RES. What seems to work for me is, from /message/unread specifically on a desktop PC browser set to Old Reddit (not mobile web, not even with Force Desktop Site, it has to be a full-fat PC browser), you need to upvote/downvote a comment-reply to mark it as read. Each and every one of them. Updownvoting the reply from the actual subreddit doesn't work, it has to be on the unread-messages page!
