Is the original RG350 model discontinued?

I was planning to buy another RG350 because of its 240p screen (yeah, I'm one of those weirdos who actually prefers it over 480p), but I can't find it anywhere except for second hand. All I can find are the 350P and 350M models, and the newer Anbernic consoles, but they're all 480p.

I know the original RG350 is pretty old by today (man, I got my first one when it was just a few months). Did they stop producing that model?

If that's the case, do you know of any other emulation consoles with a 240p screen?

I doubt it’s still being made. Anbernic’s product designs are iterative and have moved beyond some of the parts used in the RG350, for example, the analog stick modules. The RG350 (and others from that time) was based on the Ingenic JZ4770 chipset, which was manufactured in 2011; I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess the whole RG350 manufacturing run was built with new-old stock parts (possibly including the LCD) that probably aren’t as available anymore, if at all.

Hello me! I’m one of those weirdo’s too! I believe the rg350p was 240p, at least when I purchased mine years ago.

Yeah I remember when it was announced that it was 240p, but I wonder if that's still the case because the current Aliexpress listings says:

> 3.5-inch IPS HD Display with 320x480 Resolution

So maybe they changed the screen? Who knows...

Darn, that is a shame. If you are located in Japan, I would be willing to sell mine, but I’m assuming not?

Damn, I didn't think about that. Rg350 model it's not what I would consider the best handheld now or at the time, but it is so good for what it is.

I have no doubt they have discontinued it, though I still have my RG350M. PSX in my pocket is so convenient!

I might have one you can have if you're in the states. It's practically new. I never got into it so it's been sitting around. pretty sure I have the box and everything.

Damn. I still like my RG350 too. I originally bought the black and orange unit because it strangely reminded me of the Dreamcast. Sadly, it doesn't play Dreamcast games though...lol

It was s really cool system for it's time though. Very cool indeed.

I still use my GP32 and GP2X as well as my RG350.

Why not just buy used? Though if you look hard enough, you might find some new old stock. A guy I follow on Youtube has a bunch of new old stock of TVs and Radios going back to the 50s and 60s. The best place to buy NOS is likely ebay.

These consoles are not outdated if you continue playing this type of games.

Generally speaking and with some minor exceptions, my gaming cut off is generally the PSX/Saturn era. Snes/Genesis and back are what I like to play. So, yeah, they work as well with these games as they ever did.

Why do you prefer a 240p screen. Could you explain why is better for you play retro games using this resolution?

The RG350P is an excellent device. Only the last units have the 480p screen. The most of RG350P have the 240p screen.

Almost all retro games run at 240p, so a 240p screen displays them in pixel perfect. I like the visible pixel grid of the screen, it gives the image a look that I think is more authentic. A 480p screen loses that effect because it scales it by 2. There aren't many retro games that natively run at 480p anyway, besides a few PS1 games.
