OP- you can start with tuning in NOAA weather radio (assuming you’re in the US) these stations are in the 162.4 to 162.6 range do a web search on the station in your area.
You can also give the weather satellite on 137 MHz a go for weather images.
Both of those option all you need is the dipole antenna that might have came with your receiver, and for the images you will need a software program called SatDump.
A setup for images is the GOES satellites (again for the americas) these need a clear line of sight to the satellite and a special antenna the GOES package from Nooelec (available from Amazon) works very well and is pretty simple to setup. But check your areas and make sure you have an unobstructed view to the satellite.
Out side of the NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts it’s probably the simplest way to get real time images and forecasts.

Good luck.

Also, might not be a bad idea to listen in on 433 mhz. You might discover a neighbor has one of those home weather stations. Two of my neighbors have them and I am able to pick up the current temp, wind speed and direction
