Other Hmmm...Rainbow Braised Pork Belly

Post image

I came across this video someone shared while I was scrolling. I’d say this counts as a rainbow. If this isn’t allowed, mods feel free to remove it.

Red is probably just the normal caramelized sugar color. Yellow is probably from pan-frying. Green might be spinach juice. Blue might be squid ink. Purple could be purple sweet potato. Could the other blue be blueberry? Not sure about that one.

These are not natural food dyes, friend. Spinach doesn’t turn that color after braising. Squid ink is not blue

I dont think any of these are naturally dyed friend. Nothing natural makes those colors in that vibrancy on something thats not absorbent. Its... unique though. Very Pretty Patties coded.

It’s not tainted meat, it’s painted meat!

Reminds me of the food in the old school Star Trek. No wonder mister Spock was vegetarian

I've dyed a lot of foods rainbow, but didn't think it would work with meat haha. If this is even meat? It looks strangely white under there, it might be tofu or something.

Either way, seems like whatever video you got it from wasn't being honest if they also claimed this was done with natural dyes. Still fun though!

r/RainbowEverything doesn't allow the spread of misinformation. There is no conclusive evidence that food dyes are in any way dangerous, and unless you are allergic, consuming them is perfectly safe

Just because you know someone with health conditions that were effected by food colouring (and there are many different kinds of food colouring) doesn't mean they aren't generally safe for the majority of people.

It’s really interesting that you didn’t read the links and consider your ego more knowledgeable than two MDs that specialize in this topic.

Really interesting how defensive and black and white you are as well. Perhaps consider the ingredients list of the food you eat in mass. Assuming what I do is childish, especially when stated our nutrition is guided by appropriate professionals.

No thank you. That is way too much food coloring

There are plenty of quality food colouring brands that are extremely vibrant without having to use more than the end of a toothpicks worth
