Reminder that one of the April fools what if stories is longer than THE BIBLE.

Edit: greed is relatively short, Wrath is much longer

I think Greed if I'm remembering correctly

101

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 07 '26

No it’s not. It’s equivalent to one light novel with around 300-400 pages. Bible is around 1500. Besides bible is not that long. I read book longer than that so it’s not really huge deal if something exceed that size

102

u/hellyeboi6 Shaula's Finger Guns Blew My Mind! May 07 '26

I think it's just fun to use the bible as a unit of measurement, for example the Re:Zero main story is currently like 7 times the length of the bible

40

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 07 '26

Well stormlight archieve one book is 1500 pages. And also it’s not fair to think rezero as a single book. It should be counted as 40 books as of arc 10 by the standard of light novel. And webnovel are usually really long

12

u/DylanTheZaku Newbie May 07 '26

Yeah most books in fiction actually are longer than the bible. It's just more easier (fun/interesting/engaging) to read something vs the bible.

u/FransTorquil Newbie May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

I’m not sure if page numbers are the best thing to go on for Bibles considering how compact the text usually is in them.
Audible shows that recordings of the Bible usually come out at anywhere between 70-85 hours depending on the narrator’s speed, which feels like a good 20 hours longer than even the longest fiction book I’ve seen on there.

8

u/Hdjbbdjfjjsl Mimi’s Cuteness Overload—Send Help! May 08 '26

Yeah I’m not exactly Christian so I’ve never read through the whole thing but I do know that if the font and word layout of the Bible was the same as any regular day modern novel the book would probably be a good 2-3x thicker.

I'm pretty sure Tappei spends every waking moment either brainstorming or writing stories for the Re:Zero universe.

How long is arc 7 and 8 in WN?

11

u/TheBoyz20 I Suppose, Therefore I Am May 08 '26

Arc 6: 90 chapters Arc 7: 110 ch Arc 8: 74 ch

Arc 8 feels short, even considering it is less chapters than 7. It really feels like Arc 8 is just part 3 of Arc 7. Arc 7 is kind of long, but its split into different parts so the pacing felt fine. It took me about 2 months reading 30-60 minutes a day on average.

I've only read arcs 6, 7, and 8. If I had to chose one to read it would always be 6. 7 and 8 go together and they're really good, but its hard to match arc 6. Studio Reverie has a great audio book on youtube and they were a big reason I loved the arc so much. I strongly recommend it if you want to read the arc.

7

u/Entire-Cap-9552 The Fluff Was a Lie 🐇💀 Now I Have PTSD May 08 '26

Oh thanks. Wasn't sure Witch cult translation was WB or LN. I have read arc 5,6 and half of 7. Don't have time these days to read it all. Would love to

9

u/TheBoyz20 I Suppose, Therefore I Am May 08 '26

Witch Cult is the web novel. The LN is copyrighted so you won't be able to find it for free unless you find a pirated Google doc or something. I've heard of people doing it, but the web novel/witch cult is good. I do wish the LNs weren't so expensive because I'd love to support the LNs, but the series is so long that its hundreds of dollars to buy it all :/.

3

u/Entire-Cap-9552 The Fluff Was a Lie 🐇💀 Now I Have PTSD May 08 '26

Is there a big difference in story b/w them or minor. I heard that one of Subaru burning death was cut in LN.

7

u/TheBoyz20 I Suppose, Therefore I Am May 08 '26

The WN is the rough draft, it always has a little more "fluff" that is edited and revised to make the LN, as with any rough draft. However, later arcs are much closer to the finished product than earlier arcs. The differences are pretty small at least from arc 6 onwards.

Some notable differences that I know about:

  • Arc 4 WN is much longer than the LN if I'm remembering correctly.
  • Arc 5 Liliana is a lot different, at least from the anime. Many WN readers hate her because her chapters are long and she is obnoxious. I think they changed a bunch of her part and made it better for the LN. She's totally fine in the anime, which usually follows the LN quite closely.

A bunch of the earlier arcs aren't even translated. Most translators are focusing on other rezero content because the anime did a good job adapting it.

Later arcs: Arc 6 and onward there are very few significant changes. There is the one skipped loop in the cave, Tappei said he wanted to save that kind of death for later so they cut it from the LN.

Other than that, I can't think of any really important changes up to where I am in arc 8. There may be some that I haven't heard about, you'd need someone who's read both to be certain, but I'm pretty sure there are at least no really important changes. It would be small bits of lore or doing events in a more effective orders, small changes that make it better, but don't change the overall story.

3

u/Entire-Cap-9552 The Fluff Was a Lie 🐇💀 Now I Have PTSD May 08 '26

Oh wow, thanks for the long answer.

2

u/DontWantToThnkOfName If Loving Natsumi-chan Is Wrong, I Don’t Wanna Be Right May 09 '26

Take this with a grain of salt as I don't recall the source, but I head the initial plan was to write 11 arcs, but 7 got so long that it was split in two and now there's gonna be 12. Hence why 8 feels like part 3 of 7. It literally is.

I was a book hater before Rezero tbh now i am adicted

9

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 07 '26

Anyone who wants to start reading rezero then they should opt for light novel instead of webnovel. Webnovel is much bigger and acts more like a draft. Anime adapts light novel so it’s more canon and each volume is not that big too. I could finish a single volume in a day. So until mid arc 7 you should just read light novel

22

u/Mohib964 Echidna Offered Knowledge. I Asked for a Hug. She Just Stared May 07 '26

this is me with arc 7 and 8. if it was alone i would brute force the WN but i haev to read side stories too for it that's why i havent read it yet. When those two get release i am skimming through arc 9 and 10

16

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 Newbie May 07 '26

You really don’t have to read the side stories, they give lots of background info and stuff but arcs 7-8 make complete sense on their own.

The only kinda exception is brotherhood of Pleiades, that should probably have been in the main story

7

u/hellyeboi6 Shaula's Finger Guns Blew My Mind! May 07 '26

I think the only truly necessary side stories are the EX volumes, although they're more like prequels rather than side stories

6

u/Beautiful-Neat-7609 Newbie May 07 '26

You don’t need those either, I read arc 7/8 without any of the ex volumes and it felt like a complete experience.

7

u/jatin_hehe Heinkel Said I Was Drinking Too Much May 07 '26

It's the same for me but it happens only when one starts to read a novel they haven't read... But once you get into it, you just can't stop yourself from reading just one more chapter adter binge reading 100 chapters in one go and it's 4:00 Am

7

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 07 '26

You know arc 7 was really boring at some parts but they have highest peak of all rezero. Especially phase 4 and 6 was so good that I couldn’t stop reading. But if you have problems with pacing then light novel is really good in that regard. So you can just wait for English translation of ln to complete arc 7

3

u/DaFragle Echidna Poured Me Tea—Now I’m Even Thirstier May 08 '26

I am reading the WN arc 6 right next to the anime releasing and honestly it feels like the anime is paced so much bettet than the novel, it genuenly takes a while to read the novel but watching the anime just gives you a faster experience. Though I still think giving the WN a read is worth it cause a lot of stuff is cut in the anime, like the anime gets done with the aftermath of priestella in a quick montage while the WN actually spends a whole chapter (maybe even more i don't remember) just about it, this may seem small but it leads to a lot of confusion, like my friend who hasn't read the WN before didn't even understand why they even had to go to the sage (maybe he's just stupid tho idk). Plus garfiel's reunion with his mom was so much better in the WN.

2

u/kolmogorov_simpleton Kept Emilia’s Ear, Now I’m the Villain May 07 '26

I like reading and will probably getting the light novels translations, but they aren't that far ahead of the anime, like just 1 arc, and the side content and web novel are kind of a pain to read, sometimes side content gets deleted without warning from witch club translations and you can tell the web novel really needs that editing that goes into the LNs.

Honestly it's not even the text, the problem is that the first novel was just written... really poorly, at least in terms of prose. Idk if it gets better later or if it's due to localization errors, but it's written like a 5th grader wrote it...

I have a question for everyone who loves rezero. I say love bc you guys must understand the story quite a bit and most likely take pride in it so…my question is why does the mangaka make most of the cast pedophiles??? I’m genuinely curious fr and w that being said he’s most likely a pedophile himself would u guys agree w this question? Or no?
