City Life Parking in the City
I am a new resident of the city (Riverside, in particular, off Tulpehocken Street). I have received no less than 10 parking tickets during the time I have lived here (7 months), usually violations for parking where they are street sweeping. The latest round is so high that I have $800 in tickets and had to get on a pay plan. Can anyone offer any suggestions about what to do about this? NOTE: Please don’t insult my intelligence by saying “park somewhere else.” I tried that and my back window was shattered, which cost me almost $2k to fix.

set alarms for the street sweeping times where you usually park and move the damn car lol I've already gotten up at dawn to move the car. you'll get used to it over time it's second nature after awhile.

2k to fix a window? Get better insurance maybe. Should have been zero.
I put a thing on my calendar to remind me of street cleaning days.

Comprehensive usually has a deductible and if you pay to not have one, you're wasting money.

The unfortunate reality is that you are on a signed, regular (weekly) street sweeping route. The Reading Parking Authority (RPA) precedes the sweeper as it comes down the street and issues tickets to those who are not moved. You must move or you get ticketed. This continues year-round unless there is snow on the streets and the City specifically postpones sweeping.
Your choices are limited: Park on the other side of the block, park elsewhere, work/travel during that 4-hour period of time, or wait / watch for the sweeper and preemptively move your car before the RPA car arrives (usually a block ahead of the sweeper). Pain in the a$$ but that’s the situation you’re in. Good luck!

Sorry I don’t have anything helpful on the parking itself.
A shattered back window should fall under comprehensive coverage though– don’t people keep a lower $250 or maybe $500 deductible for that compared to collision?

Thank you everyone for weighing in! I have a buddy who lives a few streets away near one of the auto garages off Route 12 that said I can park by his house. No street sweeper over there!
