Real. It is a hot air balloon.

É real, aqui no Brasil tem um pessoal que se dedica a soltar esses balões mesmo sendo crime ambiental. São balões realmente grandes.

u/DewDropWhine 19d ago
Do they eventually land? Imagine this coming down and covering part of a neighborhood.

u/ProcedureCultural474 19d ago

Ok but isn't it extremely dangerous?

u/ProcedureCultural474 19d ago
Sim, em alguns lugares são a principal causa de incêndio. Quando eu assistia jornal costumava ver direto os estragos causados por essa prática. Alguns o pessoal coloca fogos de artifício, infelizmente sao lindos é um espetáculo de se ver.

Right now we have this problem where if someone doesn’t recognize something they immediately insist it’s AI.
But if you watch this video it’s clearly not AI.
Consistency, audio, video quality all absolutely and undeniably real.
In a few years when ai is able to replicate this type of video it won’t matter people today already can’t tell the difference between clearly ai and not.

u/Kryptosis 20d ago edited 20d ago
Which means the problem is only going to get worse with people dismissing everything they don’t want to understand as fake AI. Same as we saw with “fake news” and same as we see with anti-science types.
Meanwhile they’ll be mass generating videos of Jesus, aliens and ghosts and passing them off as real.

Seriously, last month I saw a 3d ball that everyone was saying was ai. I had downloaded the model and was printing it while I was reading that it was ai and couldn't be printed.

I don't think OP is insisting it's AI. They are just trying to be cautious. And cautiousness can be healthy.

u/no_rxn 20d ago
I agree. It's been proven at this point people are going to use AI to lie. They aren't going to be up front, they aren't going to add a disclaimer, they want to trick you.
So the correct response is to question and have an open dialog with others to prove reliability in some form, and give people the tools to do that research on their own.
Blindly trusting everything online is how we have declined so far in media literacy. AI waking people up and making them want to research facts should be welcomed, not mocked.
We have always said "don't trust everything you see online" and now that AI is actually reality bending for people who can't visually differentiate it, they aren't expected to question it?

To be honest, it's weird and many people haven't seen anything like this before. I was having trouble even grasping what I was looking at. It's an ominous floating object and the question was posted in an era of AI clickbait.

I don’t know about that, it’s just new technology, just watch CGI in movies from 80’s and 90’s, everyone ate that up as looking very real, now watching that stuff it’s laughable anyone thought it was realistic.

Oh yeah the internet is inevitably going to die off totally within the next few years, ive been saying it for the last few months. This is untenable.

Oh gosh! I hate it so much!!! Don’t know exactly why.

u/Yabbos77 20d ago
I just commented this myself!
I have a “phobia” that doesn’t seem to have a name. Giant objects in the sky that don’t belong there.
I saw an ad on Reddit once. It was a scrollable 3D ad of a beach. It was neat technology when I first saw it- and I did the click and drag to move the screen. There was suddenly massive letters above the water with the company name that terrified me.
And it’s not megalophobia, because giant objects in general don’t scare me.

u/RainbowRatArt 20d ago
Have you watched Nope? Did it trigger that feeling? 🤔
2
u/Yabbos77 19d ago
I haven’t. Is it a good movie?
3
u/PlayWhatYouWant 19d ago
It's great, but fair warning, if this video is a trigger for you, Nope will set it off too.

u/RainbowRatArt 19d ago
It's good but a bit artsy and creepy. I liked it and wanted to watch it again but lowkey am afraid of it hahaha

u/oVioletValkyriex 20d ago
This phobia needs a name, cus it's not about massive objects. It's about objects that clearly don't belong in the sky that happen to be massive.

I know exactly what you mean. I remember this add of channel 4 in the uk. It showed a quite tall character that appeared in beautiful sceneries like next to the ocean, running in the meadows and such. It used to give me quite a terrifying feeling. I hated that it didn’t belong there.

u/Yabbos77 20d ago
It makes me so weirdly happy to know I’m not the only person experiencing this weird phenomenon!

I get this feeling with the video of the carnival rides that don’t really exist. I also got it watching this video but not this first time I saw it. Don’t know why this time I got that really uneasy feeling.

u/ConsciousBenefit87 20d ago
I had no clue what it was so my brain thought it was torn up flesh??? (Because I thought it was AI)

True, it just looks “fake” to me? I’ve never seen anything like that before though so it could be a knee jerk reaction. I’ve noticed a few people saying it’s real link a brazilian news website but I don’t see anything in that?

u/Hour_Papaya_5583 19d ago
Not AI, these happen in Brazil. Used to join a group when I was young and they can be huge. Interesting footage tho

Wow, that balloon is really massive. I wonder what the point of launching it is since no one is riding in it? It seems like a ton of time, effort, and money to make, but I don't really understand the appeal of you don't ride in it or reuse it. It's just an enormous amount of trash after it comes down.

u/Evening-Rough-9709 20d ago
I don't think that's the balloon but a large cloth banner being lifted by a hot air balloon.

AI. Not only is there literally nothing holding the banner up, it would be impossible to make one that size because it would tare itself apart under its own weight.
10
u/Shed_Some_Skin 20d ago
Not saying it's not AI, but it does look pretty torn apart
There's a lot of details here that look really consistent. The brand logos on the cars, the fence posts, the bikes. The guy lifting it over the fence to stop it getting stuck
But when the camera pans up it looks completely unreal. I wonder if it was originally just video of some more normal kites or something and it's been edited to add the gigantic banner

It’s not AI you’re right to assume it looks very real. Literally, all it takes is scrolling past the second top level comment on the original post to get the source. Everything in this sub is AI until proven real I guess but nobody actually cares to look for the proof so it’s just AI. 🙄

It's not a banner. It's a hot air balloon. They are massive and they would float like this in the wind even when shredded.

Hello!
Your comment has been removed due to not having a clear reasoning showing how you came to the conclusion that's AI generated. Please provide proof or a train of thought that made your think this way. AI "detector" software is not a valid argument as they are extremely unreliable.

Sentiment: 15% AI
Sentiment reasoning: A small number of commenters believe it is AI due to the perceived lack of visible support for the banner, its impossible size and weight, and visual inconsistencies where tattered cloth appears to turn into clothes. The majority believe it is real, citing it as a type of hot air balloon common in Brazil, and pointing to details like the tearing of the material and the way it interacts with a fence as evidence of its authenticity and realistic video quality.
