HELP Escalator losing speed control

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I honestly can’t tell with this one.

It looks like some of the people may not be moving their feet to step off at the end. Also, everyone on the escalator just seems…unsettlingly chill about the whole thing.

Sentiment: 0% AI

Sentiment reasoning: Commenters believe it is real, citing that the phone recording matches the events, people are reacting realistically to speeding escalators, and similar real videos have been observed.

Not AI. I’ve seen other very similar videos and it looked just like this

I think it is real. The phone recording in the video is same as what's happening. I see People are jumping off since directly stepping speeding escalators may cause harm

It’s real, I’ve seen this happen before at a mall I used to go to back in the 90’s

This is BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on 15 December 2025.

The escalator malfunctioned and suddenly accelerated, sending students toward the bottom at dangerously high speed. Students had to jump off to avoid colliding with one another.

It's a real incident, not a staged video.

You can watch the original 16-second footage here:

The video was filmed by Tahmid Kamal.
