Over the past few days, I've run countless tests, switching back and forth between three operating systems to make the version more and more stable.

Many hours have gone into the reverse-engineering process and testing on all platforms using the actual hardware.

I probably don’t need to mention that this was done with massive support from AI, but I still believe that writing posts involving human interaction should NOT be done by AI. That’s why I wrote this post myself typos included xD.

After extensive testing with the great Reaper on Ubuntu, I’m now confident enough to share the news, and I’m looking for people who own Access Virus TI hardware and might want to participate in the testing phase.

Like, everything in the non-loop region is a little distracting. I’d much rather maximize the space I have and clean things up.

Edit: Also for example, it would be cool to only have 1 entire measure locked into view, and then you could scroll out and it snaps to 2 measures, and then 3 and so on.

Reaper hive mind: I made a copy of a project to work on different eq approaches. In the copy, out of nowhere the volume fader for one synth track does something strange (I haven’t set up last-touched automation etc.). As I increase volume, the sound becomes more nasally, not louder, and I can hear more reverb/delay. Reducing the volume reduces the volume.
I have three automation lanes - one for volume, one for panning, one for the Blackhole mix level. I altered the Blackhole mix level a little in the copied project, and made a significant change to eq.

Plugins on the track:

Blackhole
ReEq
But other than the changes outlined above,
it’s the same as the original.

What are some good plugins to get for Reaper to work with an Akai MPK Midi keyboard for making trap beats? I've been rapping over other people's beats and recording and mixing my own vocals for a while now, but I want to try move onto producing and mastering my own stuff too. I already have Vital, Iota and a a couple others but I'm mainly lookin for samplers for use with the Akai's drum pads, and some plugins that would be useful in mastering. Thanks in advnace

I have played with latency in asio configuration and recording preferences, (forward and back to be safe) and It sounds fine being played live but everytime I record, my notes are moved forward way to much, any help?

Is anyone able to help point me in the right direction on how to export a session from reaper in OMF format to send to someone who uses ProTools, and will have all the session without committing the stems to a single take

Has anyone had any dealings with an application called Interchanger? Have been recommended it but wondering if it’s any use before committing to paying for it

I am very new to Reaper, and let me tell you, being able to customize this DAW to work with my workflow, I am loving it so far. Today I am trying out the recording feature. Quick question though, I want to highlight an area but for some reason it highlights my entire timeline (all items). How do I turn that off?

Hello! I recently downloaded Reaper to build backing tracks for my band. Decided on Reaper because it seems reliable. I am trying to program Preset changes via MIDI Output to my Quad Cortex. The only thing is this UI for mapping something as simple as

CC32: 3, CC0:0, Program 3, Expression 1

is the worst thing I have ever had to try to use in my life.

Is there a better method for sending 3-4 Midi Output commands at a time, than this Piano Roll-esque window? Is there a better plugin or mod or something to fix this UI into something usable?

I'm sure someone has dealt with this:

Focusrite 2i2 2nd gen is plugged in to my dell laptop, running windows.

Downloaded & installed my focusrite 2i2 2nd gen driver.

Preferences>Divece>ASIO>Focusrite USB ASIO... BUT nothing shows up for inputs & outputs.

Add new track, arm track & get "There was an error opening the audio hardware: Error initializing ASIO driver"

I've been searching youtube but not finding anything about this specific issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Every now and then, people here have asked for an easy-to-use looper to get live jams going. I've been looking for one myself in a very wallet-friendly price range. So, with some heavy assistance from AI, I decided to whip up a simple JSFX plugin: you can just drop it onto a track or several, and route other instruments into it if needed.

If you feel like trying out this little contraption, you can download it from www.paterax.fi, though the website is still pretty much a work in progress. :)

I haven't really planned on developing the plugin any further, as it's ended up being just for my own occasional use. But I thought I'd offer it to others anyway, just in case someone gets some joy out of it.

all my vst's and plugins don't fit in the window size, preventing me from seeing certain controls. how can i fix this?

i am using an electric yamaha keyboard as a midi controller for native instruments kontakt. the sustain pedal works for some things, such as synth, but not for others, such as a basic piano sound

So I'm interested in setting Reaper up after working on Cubase 5 from 2010-2015, and occasional helping the producer in band recordings.

To my understanding, setting up Reaper and getting to learn it takes a bit of time, and I was thinking of letting Claude set it up for me using cowork.

What are your general thoughts of it? My main issue is time to do it in a full time job and not wanting to spend all my "music time" trying to get this thing working. I don't really have experience with it yet, mainly trying to scope out what I need to do to get it up, running, and functioning quickly.

Hello! I've been using Reaper as a recording/editing software for years but I'm trying to do something new with it. I am designing sound for a musical, and would like to implement loops and devamps in Reaper the way that Qlab does it (playback is going as normal, enters a loop, stays in the loop until you hit "devamp" and then when it reaches the end of the loop it keeps playing what's left of the file/s without any jumps in the audio).

I've found some things online but was curious if anyone here has done this before.

like the title says, there is an issue in reaper where the note cuts off the beginning at playback (specifically for the bfd drums player vst)

but it works fine when it loops or if i nudge the note to the right , i've come across this thread : https://forum-amz.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=263122, but to no avail

Has anyone had luck bridging vsts on linux? I am on cachyos using vstbridge and wine-staging 11.19 but half of the vsts i bridge fail to load in reaper. There are no error logs in vstbridgectl so i'm not sure what to do.

I was originally using yabridge but it requires you to keep an older version of wine, so i moved to vstbridge to avoid that.

Maybe a simple question, but I searched and didn't find a good answer.

Let's say I have a mouse with 7 buttons. How can I assign actions to those? E.g. I'd like to assign "Item: Split Item under mouse cursor (select Left)" to one of the extra buttons, but I only see a way to assign keyboard keys and not mouse keys to shortcuts.

On a Mac, and have mice from a few different mouse makers (logitech and elecom).

I just started using analog lab pro V which is my first real midi plugin and I just recorded a whole song on it while listening through my speakers (so I didn’t notice it at the start) and I go to edit, then I can’t hear anything in my left ear. It shows up fine in the tracks section but not on my end. Does anyone know what to do?

I'm having a little melt down here...PC with Windows 11, Reaper 7.42. To give context, someone sent me an instrumental which i imported, i spent some time trying to figure out the tempo (set the audio file to 'beats position only' in the preferences and then scroll through the BPM until i find the correct one) but for some reason it was in between BPM (between 124 and 125) so i just left it at 124.1 and continued recording without the metronome. Everything went fine during the recording and on playback everything is fine and in time, however every time i consolidate the stems and re-import, the vocals at the end of the tracks have slipped out of time, and even when i render tracks instead of consolidate its still out of time. Does anyone have any idea what's happening?

I find myself having a project where I did a lot of long takes of stuff like rhythm guitar, then finding the take I like and kind of building the project off that take. This leaves me with stuff I don't want or need on either side, which wouldn't normally be an issue, but when I'm rendering from a track, it renders the entire project, which could be super long. (Sure I know, I should have made a new project early on and ported just the take over, but it's too late for that now).

Even when I delete everything and razor edit move my time selection all the way to the left, there still must be hidden data or something later on that makes all those renders take 5 minutes instead of 30 seconds.

So what is the easiest way to "get rid" of all that?

I'd like to capture my progress playing the piano but when I play with headphones, the sound of the video logically won't have the sound coming out of what's recorded in reaper/vst.

Is there a way to conveniently do this?

I'm thinking to manually sync the audio by playing a big chord in the beginning or something that would indicate the beginning both in the "waveform" (midiform? :D) and the videos visual.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm asking because it would be awkward having to sync multiple videos if I split the videos up by not letting one video run the entire time, but several with time in between.
