They have requested it in their budget, but that has not been approved. While it is likely that it is approved there is still a chance that it could be denied.

But are there any surprises in the area?
Are any of the hidden ones they use on the border installed around here ?

Genuine question because I really donât know what our options really are. If we donât want Flock (which seems like a no brainer) but we also donât want Axon, what do we want downtown? It seems like the position is âno city usage of cameras for law enforcementâ or âgo back to CCTVâ.
Is that correct or is some alternative system being proposed? Or is it just about the license plate reading function and everything else is fine? I canât totally follow what advocates are looking for but I want to understand it

Btween the options of doing the bad thing, and not doing the bad thing, we should probably go for the latter. We don't need to record everything. Well, almost everything: the rick folk seem to be able to avoid a lot if this surveillance

Yeah that wasnât really my question. I am not opposed to removing Flock and I am not in favor of Axon. Iâm asking if the alternative is just no cameras and reduced remote law enforcement downtown.
If it is, yeah city council isnât going to gaf. That isnât reflective of my personal opinion but rather the fact that city council isnât some anti-surveillance leftist group, theyâre not reading Foucault before voting on this stuff. Theyâre politically centrist and weigh public safety concerns of their voter base. If they donât have an alternative that preserves some surveillance access for the city, theyâre just gonna contract Axon so itâs not very smart in my view to go in with no idea of an alternative system, or safeguards as a middle ground

RPD already asked for 20 million dollars for replacements from another company.
Imagine what local schools could do with TWENTY ONE MILLION DOLLARS
