He didn't post it as proof. More likely just stating how people's implicit memory still remembers the old spelling. Also I know it be chik, even though others remember it as chic.

It was Chik for me in the late 80s/early 90s, then briefly Chic, the Chik again in the 00s. And Chick only for the past 15 years or so.

i specifically remember, as a non-american, that i always wondered how it was pronounced, since it was "chic-fil-a" and not chick. And because I had only seen it in written form and not heard anyone say it. I kept thinking "I wonder if it's sheek or chick" etc. This was way back in the days of ye olde twitter when there was some drama with that chain and I remember everyone writing it as "chic". Of course, maybe everyone mistyped it, idk, but I obviously wouldnt wonder about the pronunciation if it was chick rather than chic.

I remember Chic too.
Reality is not hard fixed.
Now wondering further, could that person have still been in the Chic timeline when making the sign and when told it's Chick flips to the Chick timeline??

Yes. This happens. Right now there are people on LinkedIn from the south that were recently hired spelling it Chic-fil-A. If you bring it to their attention online they'll say they misspelled it. If you bring it to their attention in person it'll change in front of their eyes. Either a parallel reality merge, or some kind of veil over their eyes where they see it spelled differently.

this one gets me every time, all the signs, stores, everything in the physical world changing, not just some AI reinterpretation of a movie, what a trip

The fact that it isn't "Chic-fil-A" I don't think will ever sit right with me. As I kid I would sometime pronounce it in the French pronunciation.

According to many reports including myself it used to be called:
"Chic-fil-A" not "Chick-fil-A" what seems like a pretty simple retcon becomes more jarring as you think about it because the spellings are so different it's hard to not notice.
I said in another comment but I used to pronounce "Chic" in the French pronunciation.

I worked at Chick-fil-a like 25 years ago in high school and it has always been the aforementioned spelling for my timeline.
The interesting thing is that there is 3 spellings that I’ve seen people mention: Chick-fil-a, Chic-fil-a, and Chik-fil-a. And there are adamant proponents for each one.

It went Chic-fil-a to Chick-fil-a then to Chick-fil-A for me.
The weird capital A at the end still looks strange to me.

The ads with the cows is I think the source of this confusion. The cows purposely spelled stuff wrong and would write eat. More chik fil a

I actually have a very vivid memory of sitting in a Chic-fil-a as a child in the 90’s.
I was with my Aunt and my Mom eating and we had an entire discussion about this.
I was eating facing the sign in the Mall Food Court and asked if was pronounced “Chick” or “Chic” (sheek) because it was spelled as “Chic”.
A debate ensued because I didn’t understand why they just didn’t put the k in there if it pronounced as “Chick”.
I’m 1000% certain it was Chic-fil-a
