Im coming to Riga this week for ASAP Rocky concert. What are the best nightclubs to visit in Riga on thursday? Any other tips about the nightlife in Riga?

Was about to say the exact same thing + don't walk drunk at night in Old Riga. Don't get drunk at all.

Don't get catfished. There are a few shady bars / clubs that will sell hugely overpriced alcohol and bully you into paying. Don't trust girls that approach you on their own to take you to a "great spot". Just check Google reviews before going anywhere.

Apart from that, most of the clubs are of pretty similar quality. My clubbing days are in the past now, so I'm not suggesting any specific place but, as far as I know, people and tourists are happy with the club scene.

I know it was more common 10 years ago. Maybe some stories are more recent. Embassies even compiled lists of places to avoid (then those places would shut down and reopen with a different name)

Does this still happen? I kinda don’t hear those stories anymore and it seems like it’s been cleaned up somewhat.

Hi!

It is still very active. I worked at the Circle K that's located at the old town, and I would often get visits of what I used to call "legal prostitutes" that would pretty much carry the drunk men in and buy nicotine products for +/-200€, and then move on to the ATM that was just across the building to take out some cash.

While it was 2 years ago, I would still watch out from the bars that are close to that specific location

There is a reason why I put it in quotation marks

they weren't soliciting sex either, therefore both words are in quotation marks

sure they led on the guys believing it will happen at the end of the night, but these half legal bars aren't selling sex for a reason

Fairly certain it hasn't happened on a large scale since after COVID.

It does. A coworker of mine had this happen to him only a few months ago. Got whiskey doll'd with expert precision.

Go to old town where all the foreigners hang out. Don't come to our cool bars

You will hear two stories.

The first story says that everything happens in the old town. But it’s dangerous. There are bad girls, and bad boys.
Be careful, that’s just how Riga is.

The second story says that almost nothing of any interest at all ever goes down in the old town anyway, except for the fleecing of the more foolish tourists ( including Latvian out-of-towners ) and that most Riga residents don’t even go there … but that there is actually a vibrant bar&music&club&cultural scene, it’s just not AT ALL in the old town …

Of course, both of these stories are true, but for some reason the overwhelming majority of tourists still seem to pretty much stay in the old town, thinking that they know something about what’s happening … it’s a shame …

no more good nightlife in Riga, only some interesting pop-ups, not much either :(
